Training camp is about us continuing our development and evaluating our players, Chiefs Head Coach Romeo Crennel said. We are very excited to be hosting another NFL team in St. Joseph. This will give us another opportunity to further evaluate our team under a different set of circumstances before we get into our preseason schedule. We could not be happier to host two NFL franchises this year at Missouri Western, Missouri Western State University Director of Athletics Kurt McGuffi n said. There is a buzz in the air about camp this summer, and with the addition of the Cardinals, the interest is elevated around St. Joseph and beyond. We would like to thank the Chiefs for bringing us this opportunity. Arizona joins Kansas City s training camp in St. Joseph after opening its preseason slate on Sunday, Aug. 5 when the Cardinals took on the New Orleans Saints in the 2012 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. There are many benefits to this arrangement and we appreciate Coach Crennel and the Chiefs working to make this happen, Cardinals Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt said. Logistically, it makes a lot of sense since we play Sunday night in Canton and then Friday night at Kansas City, but I ve always found there s also great value in getting work against another team in a setting like this. RB Priest Holmes, the franchise s all-time leading rusher, produced 1,615 rushing yards in 2002, the third-best seasonal mark in club annals. NFL RECORD BOOK MOST PRO BOWL SEASONS OFFENSIVE TACKLE Willie Roaf , Anthony Munoz Jonathan Ogden Art Shell , 1980 WHAT THEY RE SAYING ABOUT ROAF Willie is one of the finest offensive lineman to suit up in a Chiefs uniform and is worthy of this extremely prestigious honor. In his four seasons with the Chiefs, Willie anchored one of the best offensive lines in the National Football League. His election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame solidifies his place as one of the greatest offensive lineman in the history of professional football. Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt Willie s unique abilities, work ethic and dedication to the game played a major part in allowing the Chiefs to become the most prolific offense in the National Football League during his time with Kansas City. He set the standard for the play at his position and was the single-most dominating pass protector of his era. His performance enabled his teammates to achieve standards of excellence that still remain record-setting performances in NFL history. Al Saunders Offensive Coordinator, I just don t know if there s ever been one any better. I don t know of anybody that was as complete of a player as he was. He had no limitations. He is a unique guy, athletically and in every way. He s very bright, very big and fast and explosive. It was far better to coach with him than against him. Dick Vermeil Head Coach, His consistency and what he brought to the field on game day really changed the way the position was played. Willie really made a huge difference with the attitude he brought to the playing field, which was something special. I know for a fact that we wouldn t have been able to accomplish what we did offensively in the early 2000s without him. I would say that he is as talented as any left tackle that s ever played the game. When you talk about big, athletic left tackles, he definitely has to be in that argument for one of the best to ever play, if not the best to ever play the position.
