PC In Home Openers...The Friars have posted a 5-8 mark all-time in home openers. PC last won a home debut in 2000, defeating Holy Cross, In last season s home opener, Providence fell to Fairfield, 7-6, in overtime on February 23, Current senior Bobby Labadini (Westford, Mass.) posted two points in the game on a goal and an assist. Friars Versus The Statesmen...Today s matchup marks the first meeting between Providence and Hobart on the lacrosse field. Scouting Hobart...Hobart is 2-0 after opening the season with two road wins. On Saturday, February 21, the Statesmen defeated Saint Joseph s, 12-7, and bested Binghamton, 8-4, on Tuesday, February 24. Offensively, Hobart is led by grad student attack/midfielder Chris Pedersen and senior attack Jeff Colburn. Pedersen has posted seven points on five goals and two assists, while Colburn has recorded one goal and a team-high six assists. On defense, the Statesmen are anchored by senior defensive midfielder Matt Smalley. The preseason all- ECAC selection leads the team with seven ground balls and recorded a teamhigh 63 last season, good for 23rd in the nation. Junior goaltender Max Silberlicht has played all 120:00 minutes in net this season, recording 27 saves and a 5.50 goals against average. Next Game...The Friars return to action on Thursday, March 5 with a 7:00 p.m. contest against Yale at Reese Stadium in New Haven, Conn. PC is 0-1 all-time against the Bulldogs. In the two team s only meeting, Yale prevailed, 11-5, on March 10, 2006 in Boca Raton, Fla. Labadini Paces Friars...Senior Bobby Labadini (Westford, Mass.) led Providence with two goals in the team s 22-3 loss to #2/1 Syracuse on February 15. Labadini s first goal tied the game at one and helped the Friars play a competitve quarter against the defending national champions. The 6-1 attack has recorded 54 career points on 38 goals and 16 assists. Impact Freshmen...Two Friar freshmen recorded their first collegiate points in the loss to Syracuse. Evan Olsen (Tampa, Fla.) found the back of the net off an assist from Pete Wujciak (Essex Falls, N.J.) at the 11:00 mark of the fourth quarter to record one of two Friar goals in the second half. Burdick Tops Amongst MAAC Coaches...Providence Head Coach Chris Burdick is one of the winningest active coaches in Division I men s lacrosse. Burdick ranks 25th in win percentage (.460) and is first amongst MAAC coaches in that category. His 74 career wins ranks 23rd and is second in the MAAC, behind only Tom Gravante of Mt. St. Mary s who has 90.

2 PRESEASON NOTES Friars Picked Second In MAAC Preseason Poll... Providence was picked to finish second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Poll compiled by the league s coaches. Canisius was selected to win the league with 80 points after the Golden Griffins advanced to the NCAA Tournament in The Friars received 68 points. Tigh And Fallon All-MAAC Preseason Selections...Junior attack Colin Tigh and junior midfielder Jackson Fallon were selected to the Preseason All-MAAC Team as voted on by the league s coaches. After being named to the All-MAAC Second Team in 2008, Fallon was selected to the 2009 All-MAAC Team Preseason team. The 5-foot-10-inch junior ranked fourth on the Friars last season with 23 points on 14 goals and nine assists and recorded at least one point in 13 of the 15 games he played. Tigh was a 2009 All-MAAC Preseason Team selection at attack. The 5-foot-7-inch junior was second on the Friars with 27 points on 18 goals and nine assists in Tigh posted at least one point in 14 of his 15 games played last season and posted four points against VMI and Brown. Friars Picked Second In MAAC In Inside Lacrosse Preseason Poll... The Friars were picked to finish second in the MAAC in Inside Lacrosse s 2009 Face-Off Yearbook. Canisius, which won the 2008 MAAC tournament, was picked to win the league. After PC, Siena was picked third, followed by VMI and Manhattan. St. Joseph s was picked fifth, while Marist, Mt. St. Mary s and Wagner rounded out the league, respectively. Labadini And Fallon Receive Preseason Honors...Senior attack Bobby Labadini and junior midfielder Jackson Fallon were selected to the MAAC All-Conerence team in Inside Lacrosse s 2009 Face-Off Yearbook. Labadini was selected at short stick defensive midfielder. The 6-1 senior registered 16 points on 12 goals and four assists in 2008 and has recorded 52 career points at PC. Fallon was a midfield selection after receiving All-MAAC Second Team Honors in The 5-10 junior posted 14 goals and nine assists last season and has 32 career points. Providence also won the league in 2003, 2005 and During the Chris Burdick era, the Friars have been a consistent player in the MAAC title race. The Friars have appeared in the conference tournament in eight-consecutive seasons. PC has also won the MAAC Tournament in three of the last five seasons (2004, 2006 and 2007) and advanced to the NCAA Division I Men s Lacrosse Tournament during each of those campaigns.

4 HEAD COACH CHRIS BURDICK In 10 seasons as Head Coach of the Providence College lacrosse team, Chris Burdick has led the Friars to an unprecedented eight-consecutive MAAC Tournament appearances ( ). Providence has captured four Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Regular-Season titles (2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008). The Friars also have claimed the MAAC Tournament championship crown in three of the last five seasons (2004, 2006 and 2007) and advanced to the NCAA Division I Men s Lacrosse Tournament during each of those campaigns. Burdick has compiled an overall record of In MAAC action, the Friars have posted a mark. The Friars posted their best league finishes in 2003, 2005 and 2008 with identical MAAC records of 7-1. In 2006, Burdick guided the Friars to a program-best 10 wins overall (10-7), tying them with PC s 1985 squad which also finished with 10 victories (10-2). At the conclusion of the 2008 season, Burdick was named Anaconda Sports/MAAC Coach of the Year for leading the Friars to their fourth regular-season league title in the last six years. BURDICK YEAR-BY-YEAR Year Overall MAAC Total Burdick, who has built a championship program predicated on defense, has guided the Friars to a top-10 ranking in scoring defense among all NCAA Division I men s lacrosse programs in four of the last six seasons. The Friars achieved their highest ranking (No. 2) in 2008, after allowing just 6.47 goals per game. Burdick also is credited with the recruitment and development of the first players at Providence College to be selected to the All-MAAC First and Second Teams since joining the conference in In all, Burdick has had 20 players earn All-Conference honors a total of 30 times, including Brian O Rorke, who finished his eligibility in 2004 as the program s most decorated player. O Rorke is a three-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and First-Team selection (2002, 2003 & 2004). O Rorke also earned MAAC Rookie of the Year honors under Burdick s guidance, in James Courter 07 and Ben Johnston 08 also earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. A Friar has earned the honor in five of the last seven seasons. In January of 2005, O Rorke became the first lacrosse player from Providence to get drafted by Major League Lacrosse. The New Jersey Pride took O Rorke in the 13th round (73rd overall) of the supplemental draft held in Philadelphia, Pa. In January of 2008, former Friar goalkeeper Peter Littell ( 07) was added to the Long Island Lizard s 35-man roster and was invited to training camp. Burdick also helped to develop the program s first-ever All-America selections in Michael Farley and Ben Johnston. Both players earned USILA Honorable Mention All-America accolades in 2006 and 2008, respectively. Burdick came to Providence with an impressive resume, having earned valuable experience with some of the top teams in collegiate lacrosse. A 1991 graduate from the University of Delaware, he was one of the top goalkeepers to ever play for the Blue Hens. Upon graduation from Delaware, Burdick quickly got into coaching and began to establish himself as one of the best young evaluators of talent in collegiate lacrosse. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Notre Dame in He helped guide the Fighting Irish to two-consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament. After two years at Notre Dame, Burdick returned to Delaware to serve as the defensive coordinator for the 15th-ranked Blue Hens in In 1995, he was named the offensive coordinator. While at Delaware, Burdick earned his master s degree in health, physical education and recreation. He continued to work with top programs when he became an assistant coach for the 12th-ranked UMass Minutemen in At UMass, Burdick coached the team s goalies and worked with the defense. The following year, he went to Cornell to become the assistant head coach. He spent one season with the Big Red under coaching legend Richie Moran before coming to Providence. In addition to his work as a coach in the collegiate ranks, Burdick is very involved with lacrosse at all levels, having made many speaking appearances at various clinics. He also served as the president of the MAAC Lacrosse Coaches Association in 2003, and has been a member of the regional advisory committee for NCAA tournament selection. In 2003, Burdick was selected to coach in the Division I Men s Lacrosse North/ South All-Star game. Burdick is the director and owner of the Friar Lacrosse Camp network which runs camps and clinics nationwide. The Friar Elite Camp, held at Providence College, is the leading venue for future Friar lacrosse student athletes, with over 75 percent of the current roster having attended. The network includes the PLASMA local HS Club organization, an underclass venue, the Future Chip Showcase, as well as teaching camps and clinics in Providence, R.I., Buffalo, N.Y. and Portland, Ore. 10 GAME SUMMARIES GAME 1 - #2 Syracuse 22, Providence 3 Bobby Labadini Evan Olsen Syracuse, N.Y. - The Providence College men s lacrosse team (0-1) dropped its season opener to #2/1 Syracuse University (1-0) by the score of 22-3 on Sunday, February 15 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. Senior attack Bobby Labadini (Westford, Mass.) led PC with two goals and freshman attack Evan Olsen (Tampa, Fla.) netted his first career score for the Friars in the second half. After Syracuse attack Steven Keogh posted the first goal of the game, Labadini split the Orange defense and rifled a shot past SU goaltender John Galloway to tie the score at one with 5:53 to play in the first quarter. Helped by a 3:00 minute man-up opportunity against the Friars, Syracuse scored six-straight goals in the final five minutes of the first quarter to take a 7-1 lead. The Orange outscored PC 5-0 in the second quarter and took a 12-1 lead into the half. Syracuse outshot the Friars 33-5 in the half and was 3-of-4 on man-up opportunities. After four Orange goals to open the second half, Providence netted a score on a quick shot by Labadini. Sophomore midfielder Mike Feldberg (Voorhees, N.J.) assisted on the goal and the Friars trailed 16-2 with 1:28 to go in the third quarter. With the Orange leading 17-2 with 11:00 to go in the game, freshman Evan Olsen found the back of the cage to net his first career goal for the Friars. Freshman midfielder Pete Wujciak (Essex Falls, N.J.) assisted on the goal for his first career helper in a PC uniform. Senior goaltender Robert Bryan (Apex, N.C.) took the loss for the Friars and is now 0-1 on the year. In 30:00 minutes of action, he made seven saves while allowing 12 goals. He was relieved by freshman Tim Finnegan (Lowell, Mass.) who played 15:00 minutes and made three saves. Freshman Christian Dzwilewski (Huntington, N.Y.) saw 9:03 minutes of action between the pipes, while junior Frank Cicero (Venetia, Pa.) and sophomore Jake Goodelman (Wantagh, N.Y.) played 3:00 minutes and 2:57 minutes respectively to finish out the game for the Friars. Sophomore goaltender John Galloway made four saves in 45:00 minutes of action and junior Al Cavalieri played the final 15:00 for the Orange. The Providence goaltenders held an 11-to-7 edge over Syracuse in saves made. Senior Kenny Nims posted a career-high eight points on three goals and five assists to lead the Syracuse offense. 11 2008 IN REVIEW 2008 MEN S LACROSSE Record: 7-8 (7-1 BIG EAST, Tied First Place, MAAC Co-Regular Season Champion) Head Coach: Chris Burdick Captains: Bennett Murphy, Henry Pynchon, Dylan Cox, Colin Reposa, Danny Ryan The Friars claimed a share of the MAAC Regular-Season title with its 7-1 league record. Providence s only loss in MAAC play came at Marist (7-6) on April 16 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Friars started the league slate with five-straight wins. The Friars advanced to the MAAC Championship Tournament for an unprecedented eighth-straight time. Providence s 7-1 league record is tied for its best showing all-time since joining the league in In 2003 and 2005, the Friars also posted 7-1 records in MAAC action. The Friars earned the MAAC Regular-Season title for the fourth time since joining the league in Providence claimed the regular-season title for the first time in 2003 and also earned the title in 2005, 2006 and The only time Providence has claimed the title outright was in It has shared the other three titles. Senior Ben Johnston (Branford, Conn.) became just the second Friar in program history to earn USILA All-America honors (honorable mention). The Friars started the 2008 schedule with five-consecutive losses before winning seven of their last 10 games on the year. Seven of the Friars eight losses on the year were decided by two goals or less, including five games decided by just one goal. Providence played four overtime games in 2008, including a 9-8 overtime loss in the semifinals of the MAAC Tournament to VMI on May 2 in Loudonville, N.Y. The Friars were 1-3 on the year in overtime games. PC s only victory in extra sessions came at Siena College on March 29. Providence defeated the Saints, 4-3, in four overtimes. The Saints were picked to win the MAAC title in the preseason poll. Senior defenseman Ben Johnston (Branford, Conn.) was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. A Friar has won the award a total of five times overall - including five of the last seven seasons. Brian O Rorke 04 won it three times (2002, 2003, 2004), while James Courter 07 earned the honor in Senior Ben Johnston (Branford, Conn.) and graduate student Mark Dillon (Gaithersburg, Md.) were named to the All-MAAC First Team. Senior Dylan Cox (Newbury, Mass.), sophomore Jackson Fallon (Arlington, Mass.), graduate student Bennett Murphy (Princeton, N.J.) and sophomore Ryan Riedl (Winchester, Mass.) were named to the All-MAAC Second Team. PC s six selections overall were the most in program history for a single season. Graduate student Bennett Murphy (Princeton, N.J.) and graduate student Thomas Wenskus (East Islip, N.Y.) were named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team. Murphy netted two goals and added one assist in PC s semifinal loss (9-8, OT) to VMI on May 2.
