7 2016 Interim General Meeting President s Report Jeremy Gough HIGHLITES Registrations 3.8% from OMHA grew by 2 teams overall No waiting list for Initiation actually dropped by 10 players Added reg. 2 ice times 1 in Stavely, 1 in Black Diamond several random in Black Diamond Each team is still able to have 2 practices a week with this additional ice and we made it through the curly event where we lost use of Pason for 10 days 1st Safety Meeting Jersey and Jeans event Casino 2016 next rotation 10 months apart Pason Addition Partnership with the Town

10 2016 Interim General Meeting Operations Coordinator Jamie Steer CAHL, 22 teams did Tiering round. All teams should have had 6 games with some teams getting 8. For the first time they are re setting everyone to zero games and playing a 15 to 18 game schedule. So for Okotoks teams games should go up this season. Introduction of a lot of new associations in CAHL has made the league bigger and better. Did make for a long re-tiering meeting but I think most of our teams got where they wanted or needed to be We have 10 teams in the RMFHL this season. Atoms did not do a tiering round. The others did and they are just starting there season as well Our entry into the Rocky House league this season has grown to 7 teams. The league is looking at registering with Hockey Alberta as a sanctioned league which could lead to even more growth. Good luck to all teams this season both in the Rocky, RMFHL and CAHL. Q&A

Respect in Sport Update RIS parent as of November 14th. All parents have completed the RIS Parent course RIS-Coach 8 coaches still need it as of November 15th Q&A

16 2016 Interim General Meeting VP of Programs Gabe Amyotte Safety Working with Ryan Klippenstein on gaining education surrounding Concussions and baseline testing. Numerous options out there. Looking to Educate our membership with regards to return to play protocols. Midget aged Players Driving Policy Policy in place to protect our players. Will be on website shortly. Please read it, follow it. Would hate to see anyone get hurt. Jr. A Oilers/ Jr. B Bison s OMHA has been distributing schedule info for the Oilers and Bison s Jr. teams to further enhance the experiences for the membership. - House Hockey A continued success in 2016/2017. It will be a program that will expand further in the coming years

17 2016 Interim General Meeting VP of Programs Gabe Amyotte Communication Collaboration is ongoing to find a vehicle to help us distribute information to our membership more effectively. (Facebook/blog/etc.) Looking for ideas or suggestions to reach more people. Evaluations Feedback will be obtained from the Board and OMHA to review the process of improving the evaluation and team selection process for next year and the future. Discussions have started to help fill the numerous volunteer positions as OMHA/OOAA will be growing 5 10% on average in the coming years. THANK YOU to the membership for being patient and respectful during the evaluation and team selection process. We all know how busy it is, how frustrating and tense they are and I wanted to say thanks for respecting our directors as they put in a lot of time in order make sure your child is placed properly. DIRECTORS THANK YOU for your time and effort during this arduous period of time. It is truly appreciated.

25 Shinney Division Director Jason Krueger Shinny has 15 registered players. Many are returning from last year. Numbers are consistent year over year Majority of the kids are in the elementary age group. Belief is the Shinney program lost Junior high kids to the rec leagues. There still lots of interest in the Shinny program. Membership sees it as an option for their kids. Potential issue that may warrant further discussion however impacted by available ice: Students who attend Public schools in Okotoks are unable to participate in Shinny due to the early ice time and their later school day.

26 House Hockey Division Director Tara Woodgate-Small Peewee, Bantam and Midget First year in the Rocky Hockey League (RHL) for Okotoks. 3 Peewee teams 2 Bantam teams 2 Midget teams This house league is non-contact. Alberta Hockey rules apply to this league. RHL has decided to create 2 groups within the Peewee and Bantam levels - goal was to make it more competitive for each group

27 Initiation Division Director Kurt Thomas 2016/1017 season 162 Initiation aged players on 11 teams (143 boys & 19 girls) new players, 59 returning players 2015/2016 season Initiation aged players on 12 teams (comparison reasons) We tiered the Initiation program this year: Tier 1 (returning players) 5 teams (consisting of 14 or 15 players) 11 first year kids moved up due to skill during evaluations Tier 2 (First year kids/new to hockey? 6 teams (consisting of 14 or 15 players) 4 kids moved down from Tier 1 to help with development of fundamentals Initiation Tournament: March 4th and 5th team spots available and only a few spots left to fill

28 Novice Division Director Lee Kennedy 221 players make up 14 teams (2015/2016 had 213 players on 13 teams) Travel 2 teams (15 players each) House A 6 teams (95 players) House B 6 teams (96 players) Also have 3 Female teams, 1 from High River and 1 from Black Diamond play in the house division Novice division grew by 4% from last year 8 more players Difficulty with setting up evenly matched teams this year conversations being had about adding a House C level next year. Discussions on going. Okotoks Novice Friendship Tournament to be held Dec. 16th 18th weekend. Thanks to tournament coordinator Jenn Zaffino for organizing. Tournament is full. Some of the funds from the tourney will be used for on-ice development for each team. Couple sessions each. Continued discussions to amend tournament guidelines in our bylaws that would help regulate tournament roles responsibilities and use of proceeds. Hockey Canada and Hockey Alberta are discussing the possibility and opportunity to have the Novice Level play cross ice games.

29 Atom Division Director Roy Bowlby The Atom Travel division is comprised of 85 players playing in the co-ed hockey division. The players were placed on 5 teams consisting of 15 skaters and 2 goalies. Atom 1 Green -Tiered as AT1 After Re-Tiering AT1 Atom 1 Gold - Tiered as T1 After Re-Tiering AT1 Atom 2 - Tiered as AT3 After Re-Tiering AT2 Atom 3 - Tiered as AT4 After Re-Tiering AT3 Atom 4 - Tiered as AT6 After Re-Tiering AT4 38 skaters and 4 goalies were released from the Atom Travel Program back into the House program after the coach skates.

House A 4 teams involving 61 skaters and 8 goalies House B 4 teams involving 57 skaters and 8 goalies 1 team from Foothills

30 Atom House Division Director Rob Albers The Atom House division is comprised of 134 players playing in the co-ed hockey division. The players were placed on 8 teams, 4 in House A and 4 in House B. House A 4 teams involving 61 skaters and 8 goalies House B 4 teams involving 57 skaters and 8 goalies 1 team from Foothills Minor hockey Challenges: Goalie evals to be consistent throughout all done by the same evaluators Increase skill based evals from 1 skate to 2 as it would provide a better starting platform

31 Peewee Division Director Kevin Pashuk We had 97 players and 12 goalies registered in Peewee this year. CAHL teams originally had been put into tiers 1 to 6. - Peewee 1 In tier 1 after re-tier. 17 players - Peewee 2 In Tier 3 after re-tier. 17 players - Peewee 3 In Tier 4 gold (strong) after re-tier. 16 players - Peewee 4 - In Tier 4 south division after re-tier. Will not cross over. 16 players - Peewee 5 Green In Tier 5 after re-tier. 16 players - Peewee 5 Gold In Tier 5 after re-tier. 15 players Evals went smooth. Lucky to have 2 goalies per team. 27 defensemen tried out. Spread out as evenly as possible.

32 Bantam Division Director Karla Helm Total Bantam Enrollment = 142 players AAA = 11 players AA = 19 players OMHA = 112 players remained (this includes 4 players that either requested releases or dropped out during evaluations) OMHA Bantam 1 - Tier 1 (stayed in T1) OMHA Bantam 2 - Tier 2 (started in T3) OMHA Bantam 3 - Tier 3 (started in T4) OMHA Bantam 4 - Tier 4 (started in T6) OMHA Bantam 5A - Tier 6 (started in T7) OMHA Bantam 5B - Tier 6 (started in T7) Coach: Rob Ellis (10F/6D/2G) Coach: Craig Thomas (10F/6D/2G) Coach: Darcy Bishop (10F/6D/2G) Coach: Jay Gyug (10F/6D/1G) Coach: Todd Scaddan (11F/5D/2G) Coach: Todd Weiss (11F/6D/2G) Comments from Membership: 1)Skills component overall, had positive feedback. Communications were well received. 2)Goalie Evaluations overall, had good feedback about the improvements made. 3)Managers again did not enjoy the added pressures of finding tournaments before Nov 8 as there are lots of tournaments still in the planning stages and have no dates yet.

33 Midget Division Director Jeff Faye 3 CAHL teams (56 players of which 6 are goalies) Tier 1 Midget 1 - will play in Tier 2 Tier 3 Midget 2 - will play in Tier 4 south Tier 5 Midget 3 - will play in Tier 5 Chanllenges: - strengthen the policy on what to do with excess numbers prior to evals starting - Struggle through evals with unknown numbers - working with OOAA was excellent. Communication lines were open and always sharing info - Midget Age players driving policy in place. We have worked through the details and would like to see the membership follow it. For the kids safety is paramount.

34 Female Division Director Carrie Fischer Asst. Director David Harper 210 girls in the female division 13 teams House teams include: 3 Novice B (equal) Held the Okotoks Female Hockey Classic on the weekend of November 11-13th with 40+ teams participating in 10 divisions. Here is how we faired: Novice Coyotes lost in the A finals Novice Storm won B finals Atom Green lost in A finals (shoot out) Atom White Won B finals Peewee A Won A finals Travel teams playing in Rocky Mountain Female Hockey League include: 3 Atom (equal) 1 Peewee A 3 Peewee B (equal) 1 Bantam A 1 Bantam B 1 Midget A

35 Okotoks Referee Association (ORA) Referee Liaison Kerry Rawson - VP HIGHLIGHTS ~150 Registered Officials, slight decrease from last year ~35 First Year Officials Cover Okotoks, High River, Black Diamond and Blackie Officiate Jr. B to Novice House ~1800 games to be assigned, 4500 individual assignments (1 assignor) Continue to improve working relationship with OMHA, OOAA, HCMHA and FMHA Recognized Supervision and Mentorship program within Central zone ~200 supervisions to date ~114 mentors completed of 1st year Officials to date All hockey games to be officiated 3 man, if possible. Elite Development program in place CHALLENGES Retention of Officials Recruitment of Female Officials Verbal abuse of Officials Working with OMHA to reduce verbal abuse through education and increased communication So far so good.

36 Police Record Check Coordinator Lindsay Graw Police Record Checks need to be in asap that are not yet. The rest are waiting for the PRC to be processed by the RCMP.

37 Game and Conduct Director Doug Baba This years Focus will be all about ZERO TOLERANCE regarding Game and Conduct issues. Please ensure everyone (players, parents, coaches, fans, off ice officials) understand the PLEDGE signed off at the start of the season. Everyone is responsible for maintaining proper conduct when participating in any Minor Hockey Event.
