1 SACRAMENTO COUNTY FAIR LIVESTOCK, HORSE & DOG SHOW COMPETITIVE HANDBOOK INCLUDES SMALL AND LARGE LIVESTOCK (BREEDING, MARKET AND SHOWMANSHIP), DOG SHOW AND HORSE SHOW INFORMATION

2 Dear Exhibitor: Welcome to the 2013 Sacramento County Fair! We have a FANTASTIC, EXCITING Fair planned for you this year. We are thrilled you have decided to enter YOUR county Fair. This year s Fair dates are and the theme is Let s Eat, Have Fun & Celebrate the Red, White & Blue. Please help us spread the word to all your friends and family. We are working diligently to increase our attendance, but need our entire Fair family to help us promote the Fair. The Sacramento County Fair continues to go through change due to the lack of state funding. In the past, Sacramento County Fair received a significant portion of our budget from the State of California. In 2011 Governor Brown zeroed out all Fair funding and this year s State budget includes no funding for California Fairs. In order to continue to provide our exhibitors with the same awards, premiums and classes we have mounted an aggressive sponsorship program. Remember, it is less expensive to enter online with a $5.00 fee and if your entry is mailed/delivered it is a $10.00 fee per exhibitor. Last year we had a great fair. Our attendance increased by 40%, our food vendors increased by 32% and our carnival had a record year. Keeping with the goals of the Board of Directors, youth education is our primary focus. Our 2012 school tours and Farm Garden In A Wheelbarrow program educated 11,000 school age children. We continue to work to decrease expenses and are working to increase our volunteer base during the fair. This year all animals will be represented by a volunteer chairperson. If you would like to get involved please call the office. Our carnival partner Midway of Fun is offering a $29.50 wristband that will be good all week for carnival rides. Please see the attached flyer. Wristbands must be purchased at time of entry. We appreciate your understanding and support during these tough budgetary times. The Board of Directors and staff are working to assemble the best entertainers, shows and exhibits during the 77 th annual Sacramento County Fair. If you have any questions, please call the Fair office we look forward to assisting you with ANY of your Fair needs or questions. See You In May, PJF Pamela J. Fyock CEO Sacramento County Fair
