2 Welcome to the 3rd Annual Harvest of the Reds Sale!! Kaye and I are always excited to work with this group of breeders. They are a group of very progressive breeders that are forging their way forward with new and exciting programs and information. In the past year alone they have started a website, a newsletter and are making plans to host the 2016 NAJRAE Event to be held in Springfield. One of the things I truly appreciate is their dedication to their junior program and this is reflected in the programs they have set up for juniors throughout the year; from adding significant prize money to juniors who purchase heifers through either of the Illinois Red Angus sales to starting a Land of Lincoln class in the upcoming NAJRAE show. As we travel the countryside managing sales and attending shows, it has become very apparent the demand for Red Angus females is as strong as ever across all classes. Superior did a 4 year study and of all of the females sold through Superior sales, Red Angus influenced females averaged right at $4.00 a hundred more than their nearest counterpart. As we restock the country with cattle, I think you will see a far greater percentage of red hided momma cows than ever before. Even with the volatility of the recent cattle market, Red Angus have remained in strong demand with prices equaling or bettering the prices of a year ago when the market was at an all-time high. The reason for this is simple; the cattle are just that good. Red Angus bulls and females cross well with pretty much any breed of cattle in existence. They are maternal and efficient with carcass traits that the industry is demanding. As you study the catalog, I would encourage you to call any of the breeders or myself with any questions you may have, we will be more than happy to assist you in any way that we possibly can. I think that you will find genetics on the following pages that will work for your breeding program and recommend that you find those genetics and be ready on sale day. If you cannot attend the sale in person it will also be broadcast live on DVAuction. And of course you can call my cell at if you would like to leave an absentee bid. All bids will be held in the strictest of confidence as you have come to expect from us.
