3 The Total Program Welcome to Justamere s 18th Annual Bull Sale. On behalf of the Fox family, we would like to thank all of you for your past business and look forward to seeing all of you again on April 15 at the Sale Barn in Lloydminster. We would also like to invite and welcome any new customers and thank you for your interest. What a winter it has been; the snow has been on the ground here for exactly six months as I write this welcome letter. In my mind that s plenty long enough. However, we are also thankful for the moisture and the plentiful haying and grazing it is sure to provide us with this spring and summer. It s an exciting time in the agriculture and the beef sector is no different. We are on the edge of a huge expansion in the cow calf sector. Demand is exceeding supply in most areas, which always bodes well for the producer. At Justamere, we are continuing to build our cowherd numbers both in Manitoba and Lloydminster. It s also exciting to see and meet new young people getting into the business or returning to their roots and taking on the family farm business. Shelly and I are watching our kids grow up too fast. Living next to a booming city is very demanding on a young farm family, but it is great to see our kids grow up and know where they come from and be very proud of it. Their friends come out to visit Justamere, time and again and it is rewarding to hear them tell the kids how lucky they are to live on a farm. The Angus bulls on offer in this catalogue are without any doubt the strongest that we have ever offered from front to back. Also we have four great Hereford bulls from my Grandmother Mary s elite herd she keeps here at the farm. Our consignors again this year are Express Ranches from Oklahoma, Hills of Home from Alberta, Tina Jones and family from Lloydminster and West Cowan from Saskatchewan. At Justamere, we have always taken the common sense approach to our breeding herd. Calving ease combined with growth, carcass and maternal in a good structural, good footed and good looking bull is what we look for and utilize. Then we add all the performance data and EPD s and try to find the right balance for all traits. We believe we are on the right track, as well as many of our satisfied customers are being able to make our mark in many of top Angus herds in North America. The bulls have been fed right and bred right, so they last a long time for you the customer. We have five great sons from the new herd sire EXAR First Rate that are very stout made, fancy individuals, all out of first calvers. Our Lot 14, Upshot son is a very interesting breeding piece. The current National Champion sells as Lot 1. Also some of our best bulls are again out of our two main herd sires, Justamere Stabilizer and Justamere Bell Ringer. Check out Lot 20, the full brother to Bellagio, we feel he is also quite a herd sire in the making. Express has consigned some very unique genetics in the three yearling sons of Dameron First Class. One of which Lot 31 was National Western Pen member, also a full brother to EXAR Classen in Lot 33; two excellent long yearlings sired by Coneally Concencus and two awesome sons of EXAR Wanted. Breed leading genetics only offered in this sale in Canada. The Shierman family has once again put their best foot forward and sent some very powerful bulls for the sale. The Jones are continuing to build their herd but have consigned four good grandsons of Net Worth. As always, we will semen test and deliver the bulls in May. He, of course, is a direct son of Upshot and brother to our Lot 14 here in this sale. This bull is bred in royalty; the Carla cow family traces back to the Stalwart OSU program. His mother, Justamere Carla 898W is our best Bada Bing daughter on the place. He is as deep and thick as we could ask for. We would like to thank the Strumeki family of Stoney Acres Angus for their kind donation of a heifer last year at the bull sale.
