3 H Horse Validation Important Horse Validation Information As a reminder, horse validation via 4-H Connect is required for horses shown at the District and State 4- H Horse Shows. Horses must be owned and validated by the 4-H member, their parents, grandparents, legal guardian, or sibling by May 1 st of each year. A horse that has been validated before must be re-validated (and paid) each year, if it is to be shown. The validation of multiple horses is encouraged, so the 4-H member has options, in case of an unforeseen accident, injury, or death of one of the horses. Horse Validation Dates March 1 April 15 - $10/horse April 16 May 1 - $20/horse May 1 st is the absolute deadline for validation of horses. For more information please visit the following link: (Click on State 4-H Horse Show link.) Here s a chance to make a difference in the literacy of children who are taking part in the Families Reading Every Day Program (FRED). The goal is to collect 50 of each book to reward families who complete the program. 8 4H Exchange is a county wide group composed of members from 4H clubs throughout. It focuses on citizenship, service, and leadership development. A new group forms every 3 years, with the next one set to start fall It is open to students who will be in 8th-10th grade as the club forms, and historically is a 3 year commitment. The general purpose of the club is to exchange with another 4H Exchange program in another state, so that each group can learn about the other state and the 4H program in that state. As part of that exchange, one summer, we host the other exchange group for one week taking them to various attractions around Texas. Another summer, we travel to the other state. The final summer, we travel to Washington, D.C. and spend a week at the National 4H Center.
