Susanna White competed in the Fashion Show Buying Division and placed 3rd, in Photography-1 blue ribbon and 2nd Place in Details/ Macro. Joanna White competed in the Fashion Show Buying Division and placed 1st and with her Photography she received 2 red ribbons. Josiah White competed in the Fashion Show Buying Division and placed 3rd, in Photography and received 2 blue ribbons and placed 1st place in Digital Darkroom. Timothy White competed in the Photography contest and received one red ribbon. Samuel White competed in the Photography division and received 1 red and 1 blue ribbon. The Swine Quiz Bowl team, composed of Dakota Goss, Dakota Ard and Sawyer Alvis placed 2nd in the quiz bowl. Also, in the Piney Woods Derby Race, Hardin County finished 3rd overall on Friday, with a car that was built by Timothy White. Congratulations to EVERY- ONE! We are so PROUD of you!!!!!!!

2 Hardin County Youth Project Show The Hardin County Youth Project Show is scheduled to be held October 11-14th, Please mark your calendars with the following important dates for entries and deadlines: May 7-Steer tag in/entry at Kountze Show Barn 6:30-10:00 a.m. June 1-Tag orders for HCYPS due by noon to Extension office for Lamb, Goat & Pig. August 20 Swine, Goat, Lamb tag in and Entry 6:30-10:00 a.m. at the Kountze Show Barn September 17-Meat Rabbit Validation/entry Silsbee High School Ag Building October 4-Exhibit Hall Entries due Our office only assist with copies of the rules and turning in/notarizing entry forms for 4-H members. We do not control the dates or rules that are set by the YPS Board. If you need a copy of the rules you can contact the Extension office, if you have a problem or questions about Validations, you will need to contact a YPS Board member. Leadership Lab The 2016 Senior Leadership Lab is for ages and will be held in Galveston on June 28th-30th. The purpose of Leadership Lab is intended to help young people develop and practice leadership skills through recreation and education. Activities are designed to build teamwork, knowledge and skills, as well as encourage ca- maraderie among youth. The registration deadline is May 15th. There will be educational sessions and lots of fun activities like Schlitterbahn and Maritime Exploration. The cost to participate is $255 which covers t-shirt, lodging, insurance, activities, educational supplies and meals. If you would like to run for an office on District Council, applications are due by May 22nd to the Extension office. 3 Horse Show If you are planning on attending the District 9 Horse show you must be registered on 4 -H Connect no later than midnight on May 22, If you have any questions or need assistance feel free to contact the Extension office at or you can go to eventsandcontests/horseshow/, this page has all of the forms such as the Hold Harmless Form, the Authorization for Medical Care along with the Worksheet to help you while registering on 4-H Connect that you will need. 4-H Club Officer Elections During your May 4-H Club meeting you will be electing officers for the H year! If you would like to be a leader in your 4-H Club please get with your club manager! Also, once you have been elected as an officer in your 4-H Club, you will receive a nomination form to run for an office position on the Hardin County 4-H Council. If you are interested in being an officer on the Council, please make sure you complete the nomination form and get it to the Extension office by the deadline. Hardin County Club Change Challenge Don t forget about the ongoing Club Change Challenge. 4 Record Books & Star Awards In order to apply for a Star Award you must do a record book. Record books and Star Award Applications, as well as Club Scrap Books and Club Secretary Books are due to the Extension office by noon on Friday June 17th. Star Award interviews will be scheduled at a later date. We encourage everyone that is interested in applying for a Star Award, please do a record book even if you are not participating in the District Competition. Star Awards Are: 4-H Rookie of the Year is to recognize a 4 H er for outstanding accomplishments their 1st year in 4-H, regardless of age. 4-H Bronze Star-9-10 Save the Date Save the Date! The Annual Awards and Recognition Ceremony will be held on August 13, Location and time to be determined. Invitations will be years old as of August 31st if the current 4-H year. 4-H Silver Star yrs. old as of Aug 31st if the current 4-H year. I Dare You Award-must be at least 14 on August 31st of the current 4-H Year. 4-H Gold Star-Must be at least 15 on August 31st of the current 4-H year. Club Awards: Club Scrapbook-Clubs use their creativity to prepare a scrapbook depicting the involvement of their membership during the current 4-H year. Club Secretary Bookkeeping of accurate, neat club meeting records provides an opportunity for Club Secretaries to submit their records for an award and their records will also be displayed at the annual County Recognition program.
