2 January 2013 News and Views from the President National Association of Riding Clubs and Sherriff s Possess Wishing everyone a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. The year 2013 is starting out with lots of events on the schedule. On January 12 th we had convention at the Cleburne convention center. Everyone came with an open mind and was thinking of ways to improve attendance at all of our events. We have a new slate of officers who came with a lot of new ideas. Check out the event calendar on our web site. The trail ride is one week earlier and in a different place. The Chisholm Challenge was held at the John Justin arena in Fort Worth on January 15 th and 16 th. This is one of the NARC&SP biggest events we help sponsor. Glenda Edmonson did a great job representing the NARC&SP association. Kim Pennock, Tina Nolan and Susan Short took many pictures and Ashley Michael really enjoyed working with the kids. Snow and ice started the event but caring people and special people who love horses warmed up John Justin arena. Mark your calendar for January 19 th. Get your horses ready and ride with your new queen Ashley Michael. She will be proudly representing NARC&SP at the Fort Worth parade and rodeo. The parade is the opening for the Fort Worth stock show. Be part of the world s largest non-motorized parade. The parade starts at 11:00 but give yourself an hour to get ready. You will be bringing joy and smiles to hundreds of young kids and adults (you and your horse will be looked at in awe) along the parade route. I really enjoy riding in the Grand Entry. Please come out and ride with Ashley and me at this year s Rodeo s Grand entry. I have had contact with the new American Association (AASP&RC) president. We are working out a date for the /50 Challenge. The American Association wants to win the trophy back. Let s keep it in the National Association. I encourage all high school seniors to start getting information ready for the 2013 scholarship application. The NARS&SP gives scholarships to help you get started in your higher education. Looking forward to seeing you at one of the upcoming events, until then: Make time for your loved ones. We are not promised tomorrow so make the most of today David

12 DISTRICT 6 WRANGLER Hi Everyone! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, my name is Braden Martin. I am the 2013 Wrangler for District 6. I am really excited to see what this year has in store. I am looking forward to meeting everyone, and ready for the playday season to begin. I am a member of the National Association and this is my senior year in high school, so as well as being the D6 Wrangler, I am the FFA president for the school I attend and I have shown a pig and goat every year. This year will be a busy year for me. But I am up for the challenge. I hope everyone had a Happy New Years, and I look forward to getting to know you all. Thank you to everyone that purchased tickets at the January Convention for the blanket!!!! Congratulations to Laura Beatty for winning the blanket! Braden Marti

13 Hi! This is Meagan, your District 6 Queen. This December was a great month for me! The best thing I have to say was that white Christmas, and in Texas. I think I went and played in it for 2 minutes before I decided it was to cold lol. I also had a blast at Tip Top s Christmas party. Congratulations to all the 2012 winners ;). Also I have to say me and my mom, Kelly Drawdy's, barn Christmas party was a big hit. That was one competitive bingo game! I can t wait till next years. I also enjoyed decorating the horses for all the Christmas parades. I think my horse is happy to have that over with teehee. This year I rode in the Fort Worth toy parade, and the Alvarado parade of lights. Both were amazing! I am looking super forward to this month and the rest of the 2103 year. I can t wait for the stock show rodeo and parade, the playdays coming up, and getting rid of this cold weather! I am also SUPER exited to be district 6s queen and represent the district with the rest of the district royalty, Tip Top s Sweetheart Tarryn Howey, Tip Top s Jr. Sweetheart Jessika Johnson, and Braden Martin, the D6 Wrangler. I hope everyone stays safe and warm this January. ~ Meagan Me with all the other 2013 Royalty at Tip Top s Christmas Party Me and Cowgirl at the Fort Worth toys for tot s parade
