2 I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 3rd Annual Kuntz Farms Bull Sale with guest consignors Edwards Angus on March 14, Being the fifth generation, I still take the advice my Great Grandfather insisted on, good planning and calculated decisions are the keys for a business to succeed. We have always believed in the performance testing program with the Canadian Angus Association. As well as selective choices for herd sires, we used A.I. to match sires and dams to make mating decisions with common sense to boot. My Grandfather always said Keep true to your breeding philosophy and success will follow. The cows and calves are put to grass at the end of May and stay till mid Oct when harvest is done with no pampering. The bulls and heifers are then put on haylage and a limited amount of grain. The cow herd is fed as a group and are fed strictly a hay diet with no silage or grain. Not only to minimize expenses but so as not to distort the true ability of each cow. With mixed emotions, this will be your last opportunity to purchase Kuntz Farms genetics. I have greatly enjoyed the industry and all of you that I have met along the way. I am inviting you to come to the sale on March 14 at the farm to enjoy a complimentary lunch, some refreshments and to tour the bulls. It is with mixed emotions that we are offering Staunch 64Y for sale today, as we have heard nothing but great comments about the 2 year olds that are now calving this year. Here is what we have been hearing: - From Goad Family Angus who purchased the 2nd high selling bull and a ½ interest in the high selling female Pathy 6A last year in the bull sale and came back and purchased a portion of the cow herd this fall. We have nothing but good things to say about these heifers. They are great mothers with good dispositions and solid udders. Lots of size, shape and all are standouts in our yearling heifer and bull pens this year. Staunch 64Y s first calf crop not only has pleased us by having averaged more than $1000 over the sale average, it is great to hear that the females are performing great in other operations as well. With a +110 Yearling Weight, he ranks in the top 2% of the Red Angus Breed and it shows as all the breeders that have had calves from him are amazed how they come out so easy and top the scales with the highest gains in their pens. The strong hereditary trait of the Ltt gene that Barney 53M carried still exhibits itself with the easy fleshing ability, with no extra feed than any other. They carry the same big top and rear quarter as their sire, walking on an ideal foot with lots of heel. These two bulls will be a great addition to any bull battery. This Barney 53M dam started out as a showy heifer doing well at Agribition. KJG 58R has developed into an ELITE DAM, raising many top selling animals with a ratio of 110 index. She was the top seller in Dad s 2012 dispersal selling to Hahn Cattle Co. for $10,500. ½ interest in her heifer was the 2nd top seller going to Adair Angus. She went on to be Reserve Senior Champion at Agribition in 2013 and her bull calf was the high seller at my bull sale last year. Two of her sons KJG 12Z and KJG 14Z, who are flush mates to these boys, sold for $10,000 each going to Cactus Creek and Corona Creek Cattle Co. KJG 12Z produced some great looking calves. This fall Dale and Annette, Corona Creek, won Intermediate Bull Calf Champion at Farmfair and another son was Senior Bull Calf Champion at Lloydminster. We were fortunate enough to be one of the first breeders to use Real Deal semen. His heifers that I have calved out are standout females, good milkers with picture perfect udders and ideal teat size. These bulls have been eye catchers right from the beginning. They are long bodied, square and deep hipped, have a ton of middle and very clean front ends. They have lots of hair and move exceptionally well. They quickly grab your attention as soon you enter the pen.
