8 8 Meet the State 4-H Leadership Team: Ambassadors Faith Bohannon Cibola County Faith Bohannon The reason I applied to be an Ambassador was to make a change. I want more kids to get involved and to show them all of the opportunities 4-H offers. 4-H has helped open so many doors for me and I want to do the same for others.while in this position I want to better my communication and leadership skills. I want to walk away knowing I helped change someone s life for the better. Brianna Chavez Growing up shy, I never saw myself as a leader. I joined 4-H when I was nine, and going to my first meeting I had to stand up and say my name. At the time, that was terrifying. Yet now, I m passionate about public speaking and love talking in front of a crowd. What changed? I was put in many different situations that pushed me to step out of my comfort zone, each time realizing, Brianna Chavez Socorro County Hey, maybe this isn t so bad... I never thought it was possible to have the confidence that 4-H gave me, and I want to pass on that confidence by sharing my story and setting a good example for others. That is why I ran for State 4-H Ambassador. Gabriel Doherty In the past six years, 4-H has become my life. The 4-H program has given me a lot, by taking me to many places and achievements at the State and National levels. In addition, 4-H has equipped me with life skills, such as public speaking and working on a team, along with practical knowledge I use everyday. Realizing what 4-H has given me, I decided to apply for a State Ambassador position because I see the State Leadership Team as a way to give back to the 4-H program that has made me into who I am today. As a State Ambassador, I not only Gabriel Doherty San Juan County Bella Lucero Bernalillo County look forward to planning state-wide (See TEAM on page 9)

9 9 TEAM (continued from page 8 Monday night 7/11/16: events, but I also want to help other 4-H ers see the big picture of 4-H, by helping them to live out the 4-H Pledge. Bella Lucero I decided to apply to be on the 4-H leadership team because I want to work together as a close knit team to recruit more leaders and teach other 4-H kids how to be good leaders. What I hope to get out of this position is to be able to have an influence on other people. I want to be the person that other people would say that I m the one that inspired them to do something out of their comfort zone, or something they normally wouldn t. I want to be an inspiration to others and try my best to model the ideal model of what 4-H considers to be a good leader.
