This operation s sole income is from the cattle business, and they work very hard to raise top quality bulls. All the females are retained in the herd to ensure maternal strength is always increasing. The bulls are raised on a high forage and low starch diet to ensure longevity. You will find bulls sired by the greatest AI bulls in the breed in large sire groups. I viewed the bulls late in the day on one of the coldest, windiest days in January and was very impressed. This is a set of bulls produced to propel you to a new level in the beef business. If you are searching for a red or black Simmental, then this is a must see set of bulls with exceptional depth of quality through the entire offering. 3 Welcome to the Skor Simmental 7th annual red and black bull sale. We look forward to seeing you again and thank all the buyers and bidders in the past that have taken the time to attend the bull sale or visit the farm. If you are able, we highly recommend that you come to the farm and view the bulls in their pens. We also invite you to take a few minutes to check out the cows and their new calves in their pens. This will give you a better view of what we are trying to accomplish as a breeder. It also gives us more time to visit with you and try to answer your questions about how our bulls can fit your needs. Today s cattle industry has a multitude of operators all looking for different traits. Whether it is maternal, carcass, calving ease, performance traits or a combination of these that you are looking for we believe that this year s sale offering has something for everyone. The bulls are thick, meaty beef bulls that have been on a no starch soy/oat hull ration. They are coming out of some of the best AI sires that the breed has to offer. We are one of the few breeders to have sire groups for AI sires. It gives you a chance to see what consistency a sire has and likely what he will do in your herd. Experience has taught us that too many herd sires fail to live up to the hype they create in the first year. We believe that a bull who purebred breeders don t want to use anymore because everyone has a son is the mark of a bull that commercial cattleman will be using for years. But enough preaching. We are really proud of this set of bulls and encourage you to come out and see them. That way if you are unable to attend the sale for whatever reason you can either bid over the phone or place an order with the very capable staff of Transcon. We realize that this has been a tough year in the cattle industry but there are signs that we have turned the corner. The price of calves and cull cows has been creeping higher the last few weeks and things seem to suggest higher prices for the fall. Big performing, high yielding Simmental cross calves have been selling at a premium the last two years, and we are confident that this year s bulls have the DNA to add value and pounds to your calves. His dam, 2K, is a moderate framed cow who consistently produces high sellers. Sons of 2K have sold to Boyencrest Farms, Sun Star Simmentals, Kory and David Ziemmer, and Rock Lake Colony. Her one and only daughter had a great Gunner calf last year, so it seems this cross is no fluke. 2K rings the bell every time, but we think this may be her best calf. Retaining a semen interest. 22.
