The new Board and committee members are eager to serve CWA and its stakeholders, and are enthusiastic about the many opportunities that lie ahead as we move into newly completed facilities. Agribition has a long and strong history of volunteerism and I would like to thank all of you who work with us throughout the year. We saw many of you at the April Volunteer Appreciation Dinner and would like to congratulate those who received long-serving volunteer pins and other award recipients for your outstanding contributions. 2 A year of change, a year of success CWA announced at their Annual General Meeting on April 6, a profit from operations of $745,852 and a provincial economic impact of $56 million annually. Some highlights from the 2016 event include: $2.9 million in livestock sales, the second highest value in decades Increased number of international buyers, who did more business at the show in 2016 than they d done in the last four years combined Record space occupied by trade show exhibitors 8,000 students attended through the registered Education Program, a record high Record number of attendees at ticketed events, reaching 25,000 people Our partnerships with organizations such as Mosaic, Country Thunder Saskatchewan, Canadian Professional Rodeo Association, Young s Equipment, and Ford, allowed us to produce entertainment events that attracted an outstanding crowd. Their support allowed us to host Agribition Pro Rodeo, Full Contact Jousting and Running with the Bulls to entertain our visitors, says CEO, Chris Lane. New at the 2017 show CWA is always looking for ways to attract new visitors and improve the visitor experience. Some new events or recently added events that you can expect to see at the 2017 show include: Return of Agribition Pro Rodeo presented by Ford: in partnership with CPRA, Agribition Pro Rodeo returns with the same format to bring more action over four nights than Regina has ever seen. You ll want to get your tickets early this year! Return of Running with the Bulls presented by Nissan: missed it last year? We re giving visitors a second chance to demonstrate bravery by running with bulls Saturday afternoon for a chance to win cash and a shiny belt buckle! CWA Show Calf Genetics Sale: in conjunction with the Prospect Steer and Heifer Sale presented by Masterfeeds on Saturday, November 25, CWA is holding a show calf genetics sale featuring semen, embryos, flushes, bulls and bred females, carrying the latest genetics the industry has to offer. CWA will be seeking consignors for the sale - complete details will be made available late June. Mini-Chuckwagon Racing: for the first time since 2011, mini-chuckwagon racing returns to CWA. The Hawreluik Racing Group from Sheho, SK are bringing their wagon-pulling equines to Agribition and can be seen each night at the rodeo as well on Saturday afternoon. Steer Riding School: Agribition is partnering with the Claypool Steer Riding School to give anyone over 12 a chance to learn from the pros what it takes to be a rodeo cowboy. You ll learn how to get on real rodeo stock in the chutes, work the rope, and finally how to ride a real bucking steer on the rodeo dirt in the Brandt Centre. Follow Canadian Western Agribition on social media to receive updates on these and other new events that develop over the year! Facebook: Canadian Western Agribition

3 Canadian Western Agribition Hall of Fame 2016 Inductees Shirley Rosso Shirley was raised southwest of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where she married John Rosso; there they farmed and raised their four children. Shirley was a hard worker, a true partner in the farm and a successful businesswoman, owning her own company for many years. Young people had a special place in Shirley s heart. She was involved with the local 4-H program for decades. Shirley shared her energy and enthusiasm for youth in agriculture and 4-H through longterm volunteer service with CWA, serving on the 4-H and youth committee for more than 30 years. Shirley s warm smile, boundless energy, unfailing support, and lessons of commitment, positive work ethic and achievement, will never be forgotten. Her induction is a tribute to her memory in recognition of her many years of devoted service and the example she set for so many CWA youth. Fred Bartolf Dr. Fred Bartolf grew up on a farm east of Oxbow, Saskatchewan. He earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario. After three years of private practice he joined Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada where he spent nearly 35 years. Fred became interested in CWA while performing duties related to his job. He has been a volunteer for 35 years, serving on the prospect steer and heifer committee, commercial cattle committee, 4-H and youth committee and served as a Barn Boss. Fred has three children, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is a life member of Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association and was a member of the Regina Exhibition Association until its dissolution. Grant Royan Dr. Grant Royan is one of the most respected animal health practitioners in Western Canada; many times awarded for service to the indutry and considered a key mentor by many. Over a period of more than 30 years, Grant has served CWA as a health professional consultant, volunteer, committee chair, board member, and executive committee member. He serves on the rodeo committee, animal health advisory group, prospect steer and heifer committee, horse pull committee and trainer s challenge committee. In an organization that takes great pride in the commitment of its volunteers, Grant has set a stellar example in the extraordinary amount of time he has devoted to the support and betterment of the show. Barn Boss of the Year Award Kim Hextall Kim Hextall of Grenfell, SK was awarded the Barn Boss of the Year Award for her outstanding work as the Stock Exchange Barn Boss at the 2016 show. Working Cowboy Award Sparky Berthelot Kelly Brice presented the Working Cowboy Award, which is the Tiny Simpson Memorial Award, to Sparky Berthelot.

5 Long-Serving Volunteer Awards 35 Years of Service: Fred Bartolf 40 Years of Service: Perry Wilkes Missing: Lyal Fox Sr, Gerry Miller 45 Years of Service: John Willmott Missing: Leroy Berry Become a Volunteer Thank you to all of the volunteers who have dedicated so much time and energy into making CWA a success! We are currently looking for volunteers who would like to help with community events CWA participates in throughout the year. Some of these events include Canada Day (July), I Love Regina Day (July), Folk Festival (August), the Queen City Marathon (September), and the Kick Off to Agribition BBQ (November). If you are interested in volunteering for any of these community events, please contact Carson Reid at creid@agribition.com. If you d like to volunteer at the show and are a new volunteer, please complete the volunteer application form located at under About >> Become a Volunteer Infrastructure Update We are on the homestretch when it comes to the massive facility upgrade here at Agribition. Construction of the International Trade Centre (ITC) is on schedule and will be fully complete for CWA in November. The ITC will be at the heart of the show and a meeting place for urban and rural guests alike. The ITC will be home to an entire hall of purebred beef stalling, the brand new show ring which will host the RBC Beef Supreme, as well as home to sheep, goats and most of the horse stalls. The International Business Centre will also relocate to the ITC, taking advantage of a state-of-the-art second-floor mezzanine that looks out over all the action in the barns and show ring. All of this means that for the first time in CWA history, the event will truly be under one roof with no need for visitors to step outside once they re on the property. Whether you re here for livestock, shopping, rodeo or family fun, nobody will have to take on the weather to enjoy it all. To make way for all this, the Stadium and Winter Fair buildings were demolished earlier this year. The Pasqua and Harlton buildings will be the final structures to be torn down this summer, adding 200 potential parking spaces to the property by fall.
