Newsletter January/February 2015 Welcome to the Jay County 4-H 2015 program year! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year! Making New Year s resolutions is always on folks minds and I ve made some for the 4-H program for 2015! I want to give you 4-H Leaders the opportunity to incorporate more STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Healthy Living, and Citizenship activities into your clubs. I am also hoping to offer STEM learning opportunities to area youth, so stay tuned to hear about upcoming Robotics Encounter and countywide workshops. I m working on a 4-H 101 program for the families of first-year members so that they can get the most out of their child s 4-H tenure and can feel prepared for the year ahead, so be watching for more information! Hope to see you at these events and all the best! Cara READ! It is important that you READ your 4-H manuals and materials that you have for your 4-H project. We hope that the projects that your child has selected are of interest to them. They should want to read and learn more about the project. By doing so, they will increase their knowledge and that will help them to increase their skills on the subject of their project. Parents, if your child is having difficulty reading it then you need to read it WITH them it is okay. Perhaps spend one hour a weekend reading from the project materials with your child. It will not only help with the 4-H project it will help your child with their reading at school! Start with reading the 4-H RULES for the projects your child is taking! Rules for all of the projects are on the web page at Special Accommodations If you or your child is in need of special accommodations for any and all 4-H or Purdue Extension programs and events, please call the Purdue Extension Office to give reasonable notices of the accommodations needed. Purdue Extension Office Closed: February 16th, The Extension Office will be closed in observance of Presidents Day. Please note: 4-H members and their families are responsible for the information that is mailed to them in newsletters and general mailings and for information in the 4-H Handbooks, which contains the rules and regulations governing the Jay County 4-H Program. Any questions concerning information found in the newsletter may be directed to the Extension Office at or ckobza@purdue.edu Purdue University, Indiana Counties and U.S. Department of Agriculture Cooperating An Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Institution
