2 We ve started a new Valen/ne s Day tradi/on! The EVENT: In 2014, nearly 800 women (plus a few men) lined up to enjoy the 1 st Annual Wine and Chocolate Half Marathon, 10k and 5k. This year, we are preparing for an even bigger and bejer experience with more space (as LakePoint connnues to grow), more chocolate, more wine & more runners! The GOAL: To help women (and men) learn that acnvity can be fun and, that delicious food can be healthy and enjoyed if consumed in moderanon. The ValenNne s Day Wine and Chocolate Half Marathon, 10k and 5k is an opportunity to monvate parncipants to get moving, have a lijle fun and take home a great swag bag full of goodies for ValenNne s Day. The PARTNERSHIP: Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States, affecnng more than half a million women each year. Women are 4 to 6 Nmes more likely to die of cardiovascular disease than of breast cancer, and cardiovascular disease kills more women over 65 than all cancers combined. Our partner organizanon, The Cartersville Medical Center, will help us build a Heart Healthy Expo with screenings and informanon on women s heart health. Our theme each and every year will be to Love Yourself : Love Others. Our goal will be to raise money for the educanon of women (and men) on the causes of heart disease and the day to day simple steps you can take to prevent and somenmes even reverse heart disease. The Love Yourself : Love Others theme will project that only by taking care of yourself first can you be your best self in taking care of others.
