3 1 GENERAL INFORMATION 1.1 General warnings l WARNING This manual is the prperty f Elmec Grup S.r.l. and its cntents may nt be cpied r passed n t third parties. All rights reserved. The appliance is nt designed t be used in envirnments with a ptentially explsive atmsphere. This manual is an integral part f the prduct; make sure that it is always kept with the appliance, even in the case f sale/transfer t anther wner, s it can be cnsulted by the user r by the staff authrised t carry ut maintenance and repairs. Read this manual thrughly befre using the appliance in rder t ensure peratinal safety. In the event f dubts cncerning the cnditins and/r wrking f the appliance r its parts, the lcal distributr shuld be cntacted fr further infrmatin. 5 1.5 Burner descriptin The burners B-Hme Rund 25 and B-Essential Rund 50 are very versatile and are able t cver a great many functins, frm installatin n new generatin bilers, bread vens and ht air generatrs t the transfrmatin f ld bilers They are made up f a rund cmbustin head, a variable-speed main ventilatr, a reliable start-up system, thanks t the flame detectin phtcell, an internal cchlea fr feeding the fuel and they are designed s a cmpressed-air self-cleaning kit can be installed. They must be cmpleted with a fuel feeding system made up f a cchlea, with a flexible tube cnnected t the burner and by a pellet cntainer, which is supplied separately, as an accessry. 8 1.11 Running The running f the appliance is cntrlled frm a cntrl panel with a micrprcessr which prgrammes the fllwing phases: When a request fr heat is sent in start-up mde the main fan, the external cchlea and the internal lading cchlea start up t supply the necessary quantity f pellets fr ignitin. The internal cchlea starts up 8 secnds later than the external cchlea; When the pellet lading fr ignitin is finished, the ignitin resistance is pwered electrically, and this ignites the flame the brightness f which is recrded by the phtcell within a max. f 20 minutes (safety time). In the event f nn-ignitin, the burner ges int SHUTDOWN mde. In the event f a SHUTDOWN, in rder t reactivate nrmal running cnditins, it is necessary t discnnect the appliance frm the mains, remve the cause f the malfunctin, and then recnnect it t the pwer supply; After the flame has been crrectly detected, the appliance starts t run nrmally with a gradual increase in pwer supply until the maximum value prgrammed is reached, and the appliance cntinues t perate in mdulatin until the prgrammed water temperature fr the biler is reached, r that f a water strage heater if ne is installed. While the burner is running, the external and internal cchleas als wrk accrding t the prgrammed ON and OFF times; Once the prgrammed temperature has been reached, the cchleas, bth internal and external, are stpped by the cntrl panel, and the pellets remaining in the cmbustin chamber cntinue t burn; When the brightness f the phtcell ges belw 20 lux, the fan speed increases t clear the cmbustin chamber f the last residue and then it stps. The burner is then ready fr the next start-up. m d WARNING CAUTION The prgramming f the parameters MUST be carried ut EXCLUSIVELY BY QUALIFIED TECHNICIANS AUTHOR- ISED BY Elmec Grup S.r.l., and nly after the Passwrd has been given. Fr the wrking and shut-dwn perids f the burner, whether the "time bands" are activated r nt shuld be taken int cnsideratin. If the COMPRESSED AIR KIT is als present, cleaning f the cmbustin chamber takes place at the beginning and at the end f each peratinal cycle f the burner. 11 2 INSTALLATION 2.1 Delivery and identificatin f the prduct The appliances B-Max are delivered in separate packs and are placed n wden pallets Burner (1) It is supplied packed int a duplex crrugated cardbard bx. Backfire safety device (2) It is supplied packed int a duplex crrugated cardbard bx Pellet supply cchlea (3) It is supplied packed int a duplex crrugated cardbard bx and it is supplied separately frm the burner. The jints must be sealed and resistent t the maximum temperature levels that the fumes can reach. 11

12 2.3 Installatin lcatin The pellet burner must be installed in a place that cnfrms t current Legislatin, Regulatins and Directives against fire hazards. The psitining f the devices and the cmpnents must be rganised s that there is enugh space fr maintenance wrk, cleaning and st remval frm the burner, the biler and the flues. a WARNING DANGER The rm must have sufficient ventilatin vents which are f the right size and are psitined crrectly. 2.4 Munting the burner When munting the burner nt the biler: check that the pening (1) f the dr (2) f the biler is sufficiently large t allw the cmbustin chamber f the burner t pass thrugh it. If this is nt the case, adapt it t the diameter make fur threaded hles (3) (M8) fr fixing the burner supprt flange psitin the seal (4), supplied with the burner, between the flange (5) and the dr (2) f the biler push in the 4 screws (6) (M8) but ONLY tighten the tw screws which hld the lwer split-flange. The tw screws f the upper split-flange must ONLY BE PLACED but nt tightened. Insert the cmbustin chamber f the burner int the biler as far as is necessary tighten the tw semi-flanges with the screws (7) and the screws (6), which were previusly just placed in psitin 7 1 Rund Ø Rund 50 Ø a WARNING DANGER The burner MUST be munted ONLYin the psitin shwn in the diagram. Any ther psitin is FORBIDDEN. The flame will prpagate in a straight line, thrugh the hle f the burner cmbustin chamber. 12

Use the seal supplied by the manufacturer. 2.5 Munting f the lading cchlea and the pellet cntainer The munting f the external lading cchlea and f the pellet cntainer is very imprtant if the burner is t run crrectly. It is advisable t buy and use the riginal accessries, because they have been specifically designed t ensure the crrect running f the burner. l WARNING The manufacturer Elmec Grup S.r.l. DOES NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY fr any damage t peple, animals r things caused by the use f cmpnents that are nt riginal. 2.6 Release f exhaust fumes The burnersb-hme Rund 25 and B-Essential Rund 50 have been designed t perate slely with heat generatrs that have a vacuum cmbustin chamber, s the smke duct and the flue must be designed and realised t satisfy these requirements. The jints must be sealed and resistent t the maximum temperature levels that the fumes can reach. a WARNING DANGER Any applicatins which are different frm the ne specified in the manual can cause fire. Nn-insulated exhaust ducts are a ptential surce f danger. The manufacturer Elmec Grup S.r.l. DECLINES ANY RESPONSIBILITY fr any damage t peple, animals r things, caused by the absence f grunding f the appliance and f the nn-cmpliance with anything specified in this manual. IT IS FORBIDDEN Use the water pipes fr the grunding f the appliance. 13

14 3 START-UP 3.1 Befre starting up the burner Befre starting up the appliance check that: the burner is crrectly munted n the biler dr and that this latter is firmly clsed the cchlea and the burner flexible cnnectin hse are psitined crrectly the pellet cntainer has been filled the water temperature prbe has been crrectly psitined the biler and the plant has been filled with water the hydraulic circuit valves are pen the fumes exhaust duct has been set up prperly. 3.2 First ignitin Cnnect the burner pwer supply, psitining the plant main switch and the main burner switch in the "ON" psitin, and check that the screen lights up. The burner has already been calibrated fr maximum pwer in the factry, s fr the first ignitin just press the F key fr abut 2 secnds and wait fr the flame t light. Leave the burner in the cntinuus running mde, at maximum pwer fr abut 15 minutes, and then with a flue gas analyser check that the values recrded are clse t the nes indicated in the table: Descriptin U/M Crrect vlaue O2 % ~ 10 CO (average) mg/cm 3 < 500 Exhaust temperature C Press the F key t turn ff the burner and leave it t cl. l WARNING This peratin must be carried ut ONLY by authrised and qualified technicians. 3.3 Checks t carry ut after the first ignitin After the first ignitin, with a cld burner: discnnect the pellet supply tube frm the burner pen the biler dr and check that n the cmbustin chamber grill THERE IS NO unburnt material. If this is nt the case, it is necessary t mdify the settings n the basis f the specific needs (the cmbustin air and the quantity f fuel) and t repeat the "FIRST IGNITION" phase previusly described. 3.4 Autmatic shut-dwn and subsequent start-ups Once the request fr heat has been satisfied, the pellet feeder stps, and the burner regulates its speed fr the burning f the residual pellet, present in the cmbustin chamber, up t the minimum luminance (20 lux) measured by the phtcell. When 20 lux is reached, the fan ges up t maximum velcity (fr 4 minutes) t clean the cmbustin chamber f any residual matter and then it turns ff. At every request fr heat all the phases described previusly are repeated. 3.5 Pellet calibratin The calibratin f the quantity f pellets necessary fr ignitin and fr running the burner is achieved as fllws: fill the pellet cntainer pull ut the flexible hse frm the burner scket and place it in a recipient (basin) Check that there are n requests fr heat Cnnect the burner pwer supply, psitining the plant main switch and the main burner switch in the "ON" psitin, and check that the screen lights up press the buttn (manual lading) until the pellets are falling cntinuusly int the recipient (the cchlea is full f pellets) empty the recipient and press the buttn again (manual lading) fr abut 6 secnds (lading time fr max pwer 5), cntrlling the time with a stpwatch, and weigh the pellets which have fallen int the basin. 14

15 Calculate the maximum burner pwer using the fllwing frmula: Y*5/45*3,6= z (kw/h) where Y Quantity f pellets (in grams) weighed in 6 secnds (lading time fr max pwer) 5 p.c.i. f the pellets 45 max. cchlea time 3,6 pellets in Kg/h. m WARNING CAUTION If the type f pellets being used is changed (nt advisable) the calibratin f the pellets MUST be repeated, because the cmbustin characteristics will change. 3.6 Prgramming f user parameters The prgramming f the user parameters can be dne fllwing the flw diagram abve, after cnnecting the burner t the mains. Lux Lux shut-dwn If the brightness ges belw the level recrded during the time regulated within the Dead Band parameter ("Banda Mrta"), the burner shuts dwn. If this happens during nrmal running f the Lux appliance, the signal ERROR appears n the display. Dead band (s) This is the time during which the ptical sensr must cntinuusly recrd a value higher than the parameter "Minimum lux start- up" ("Lux minim avvi"). Every time the values recrded g belw the sec parameter Minimum lux start- up ("Lux minim avvi"), the cunt starts up again. 19 4 MAINTENANCE 4.1 Peridic maintenance Peridic maintenance, as well as being necessary fr the ptimal functining f the burner and the plant, is required by Law and if maintenance regulatins are nt bserved, there can be prblems r even fines. Maintenance must be entrusted t and carried ut SOLELY by qualified technicians. The pellet burners B-Hme Rund 25 and B-Essential Rund 50 have been designed t require minimal maintenance, the frequency f which depends directly n the quality and the size f the pellets used (certified r nt) and n hw the burner is regulated. f m WARNING DANGER ELECTRICITY Befre carrying ut any maintenance activity, discnnect the appliance frm the mains, and put the general switches n the plant int the OFF psitin, but als the main nes n the burner and the biler (if present). WARNING CAUTION When carrying ur maintenance, all the Persnal Safety Equipment required by current Legislatin must be used. Peridic maintenance refers t the whle plant in which the burner is installed.
