3 WINTER AQUATICS EVENTS&INFORMATION TUES. 2/24 SAT. 2/28 Dive-in Movie 8:00 pm 11:30 pm Campus Recreation will be hosting a Dive-in movie! ring your swim suit and join us in the pool or pool-side to watch a movie and enjoy free food. Innertubes will be provided. Youth Dive-in Movie 5:30 pm 7:30 pm Campus Recreation will be hosting our first Youth Dive-In Movie! ring your swim suit and join us in the pool for free food, games and a kid friendly movie. Innertubes will be provided or you can bring your own. A great family event! Swim Clinics Swim classes for beginners and advanced level swimmers are available. See schedule for class offerings and register at Member Services. Youth Hours The pool is available for designated activities. See the Aquatics schedule for more details. It is recommended for families to come during Open Rec Swim hours, though they are welcome during any scheduled youth hours. NEW NEW Pool Closures The pool will be closing at 7:00 pm on 2/24, and at 4:30 on 2/28 in order to prepare for the regular and youth Dive-in movies. Closed on 1/31 at 6:00 pm for in-service staff training. Spa will be opening at 7:10 am every Wednesday for regularly scheduled maintenance. Youth Swim Lessons Youth swim lessons begin 1/24 and cost $30 for 6 lessons on Saturdays. During youth lessons there is no lap swim. Inclusive Swim An inclusive lane is available during all lap swim times, except Water X and Open Rec Swim. Adaptive Swim On s from 10:00 am 12:00 pm there will be an instructor from Oregon Disability Sports available to assist with modifications and adaptations. Swim X This is a free program for individuals who want to take their swim workouts to the next level. See schedule for times. Earn and log points in three categories: healthy habits, exercise, and event participation. Open to the entire PSU community (non-members receive a 6 visit pass to the Rec Center with registration). Women On Weights Mondays & Wednesdays Location: Weight Room 9:00 am 10:00 am How to Join a Group X Fitness Class To participate in a fitness class, check out a Group X Fitness Pass at equipment issue up to 30 minutes prior to the beginning of a class. During these times, there is a community of women who use the weight room. There will be a female personal trainer available to answer any questions you may have. She will lead a mini-lesson on different muscle groups, equipment, and exercises for interested participants. This will help you learn proper exercise form and technique and begin to build a strength training program. Group X Classes run from 1/5-3/20 and are free for members. 7 WINTERINCLUSIVE EVENTS&INFORMATION SAT. 1/24 1/30 1/31 NEW 3v3 Wheelchair asketball Tournament 10:00 am 4:00 pm Location: Courts 1, 2 This is a fun tournament! It s a great time to get your friends together, a floor from housing or your classmates. This is a fun sport and we have plenty of chairs for you to try out wheelchair basketball. You might even like it so much that you decide to join the 4 week Wheelchair asketball League starting on February 14. For more info on the tournament check out the Intramurals page. Mt. achelor Adaptive Skiing Friday & Saturday Location: Off Campus 3:00 pm 8:00 pm This overnight ski trip to Mt. achelor near end is for anyone with a disability or injury that requires a modification. Oregon Adaptive Sports will provide any needed modifications, such as a sit ski or a guide. The trip cost includes transportation, ski rental, lift ticket, lessons if needed, as well as overnight accommodations. No previous skiing experience is necessary! Fresh Friday Fridays Location: 7:00 pm We will be introducing new sports and recreational activities. Everyone is welcome to come and learn something Fresh. Accommodations can be made for anyone. 2/6 2/8 Cascade Classic Goalball Tournament Location: WSS Vancouver WA Fri: 2:00 pm 9:30 pm Sat: 7:30 am 9:30 pm Sun: 7:30 am 1:30 pm This is our big community service project. We will provide transportation to and from PSU daily if you need transportation. Seats are limited on the transportation option, however we can help find you a car pool or you can drive yourself across the river to Vancouver. This goalball tournament happens at the WA school for the blind and teams from around the region and country come to participate in this tournament. PSU has two college students and a staff member that play for the local Rose City Thorns team. You will also recieve a tournament shirt and a meal during your shift! Hood Meadows Ski Shuttle 1/24, 2/21, 3/7 8:00 am Kayak Pool Sessions Thursdays 6:30 pm 8:20 pm NEW Want to hit the slopes but don t want to deal with driving? The Outdoor Program is offering a ski / snowboard shuttle to Mt. Hood Meadows. The trip fee for members is $75, and $100 for non-members. This includes the round-trip shuttle from Campus Rec and a day lift ticket. If you already have a season pass, you can pay $20 for members, and $30 for non-members for just the bus ride. At Smith Rock, the birthplace of American Sport Climbing, participants will apply their new skills by mockleading and practicing anchor building and cleaning. 14 WINTER DROP-IN SPORTS INFORMATION Drop-in sports allow members the ability to show up and participate with others also looking to play in a variety of sports offered. During these scheduled times, the Rec Center identifies activities that will take priority on specific courts.
