7 CENTRE FOR INCLUSIVE SPORT DEVELOPMENT Families joining Variety Village demonstrate their commitment to ac vity and the importance of exercise on a daily basis. Alongside programs available for parents, we offer recrea onal and aqua cs programs for children that create new connec ons, foster fundamental movement skills and teach simple sport skills. Our goal is to promote physical ac vity in an environment that is inclusive. INTRODUCING PHYSICAL LITERACY TO YOUR INFANT OR TODDLER Parent and child can register for a number of early morning/early a ernoon programs in the fieldhouse or pool. The ac vi es are designed to foster social play and connec ons for the child and friendships for the parents. GETTING ACTIVE WITH CHILDREN IN MOTION Programs for children three to six years of age. In the fieldhouse and in the pool, we introduce children to fundamental movement in an environment that is fun, inclusive and interac ve. NOT SURE WHICH SPORT YOUR CHILD IS INTERESTED IN PURSUING? As children transi on out of our Children in Mo on classes and show an interest in sport, Variety Village offers mul -sport classes on land and Red Cross swim programs in water. These classes introduce and help to foster sport skills. Throughout the 11-week program, coaches from our teams will guest teach, introducing simple sport specific skills. This gives children the opportunity to experience each of the sports we offer at Variety Village. For Children five years and older. INTRODUCTION TO SPORT This program suits children who have mastered basic fundamental movement skills through the Children in Mo on and/or Mul -sport classes. If your child has an interest in par cipa ng in a specific sport on land or in water, Variety Village offers eight introduc on to sport teams including, wheelchair basketball, weightli ing, track, swimming, synchronized swimming, Taekwondo, powerli ing and boccia. Coaches facilita ng the program follow a teaching model that focuses on age, stage and development under the Canadian Sport for Life Long Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD). At this level, children are introduced to the ABC s of sport: agility, balance and coordina on in an environment that is athlete-centered, fun, safe and inclusive. For children five years or older. VARIETY VILLAGE ATHLETIC CLUBS Youngsters who have excelled in the grassroots programs and are interested in compe on will transi on towards the Athle c Clubs, where the focus is on compe on following the LTAD model.
