1 Southland Dog Training Club NEWSLETTER August 2011 Another month of winter goes by and we ve had some extraordinary weather! Many thanks to all of you who attended our Show and competed, and even more thanks to those who just came along to watch and help. We keep saying it but our shows don t run themselves and without the club members there couldn t be a show. Congratulations to all of you who got places and ribbons and I will congratulate my little Pickled Pepper for getting 4th in her first Jumpers B class. It only took 25 clear rounds to get her there! Hopefully for our next show we will be a little warmer and we won t have our more Northern friends running scared of the weather. Thanks to Jo s husband, who took some great photos on our Fly day Fly dogs - Skipper & Flynn The sausage sizzle tasted great and was a good effort towards our fundraising. Don t forget your buckets for the Quiz Night! Good luck and may the best team win. Caroline

SAFETY MESSAGE For the safety of all dogs, handlers and members of the public, the SDTC Committee requests the following: Unless you are actually working your dog, they must be on a lead held by a capable person or shut securely in a vehicle or crate so that the dog cannot get its head out. Remember, there are kennels available for use at the back of the hall. BLUE RIBBON POLICY The Southland Dog Training Club has a Blue Ribbon Policy. If your dog does not enjoy the attention of other dogs or people, please tie a blue ribbon to its collar. The ribbon will identify your dog as needing a large personal space. It does NOT mean that your dog is aggressive. If you are the owner or handler of a very friendly dog, please respect other people and dogs and do not let your dog invade the personal space of any dog or person without invitation.
