The Falcons will host the Cowgirls during their annual PINK match on Thursday (Oct. 20) at 7 p.m., before hosting instate foe Colorado State at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 22. Both matches will be held at the Academy s Falcon Court at East Gym. MATCH INFORMATION PROMOTIONS Both matches will be available via live stats and webcast on GoAirForceFalcons.com. Thursday s match will be the Falcons annual PINK match, so fans wearing pink will receive free admission to the match and the first 300 fans will receive a commemorative Pink Zone tee-shirt. Saturday s match runs in conjunction with the second-annual Alumni Weekend. SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS Wyoming is 14-8 on the year, finishing the first half of the MW season with a 4-3 mark. Wyoming split last weekend, as they dropped a 3-2 contest to TCU and swept New Mexico, 3-0. Jodi Purdy, who leads the league with 0.33 aces per set, is the Cowgirls leader in kills per set with 3.63 (third in conference). SCOUTING THE RAMS Colorado State is 13-4 on the year and 6-1 in conference. They are receiving votes in the weekly coaches poll, after a 27-week run in the national rankings was snapped on Oct. 10. Last weekend, the Rams swept both New Mexico and TCU at home. Katelyn Steffan, the reigning MW Player of the Week, leads the conference with 4.12 kills per set, while Megan Ploudre holds a league-leading 1.49 blocks per set average. SERIES HISTORY Wyoming leads the series by a 28-5 margin. Air Force last won match in that series in Colorado State leads its series with Air Force by a 35-1 margin. The Falcons only win over the Rams came in FLYING ACES Air Force is ranked second in the league in terms of aces, with a 1.28 per-set average. Individually, Josalynn Wise is ranked tied for seventh overall (0.27) and fifth in MWC matches (0.29) in service aces per set. CONFERENCE STANDINGS Air Force players are listed among the league s top 10 in several other categories. Maiya Perich is fourth with 4.42 digs and Hillary Keltner is eighth with 6.08 assists, while Cami Richan and Ayesha Hein are ranked ninth in kills (2.89) and points (3.19), respectively. Holding a season average of.281 (171k-59e-399a), Hein has hit over.400 in five matches and over.500 in three. ALL HANDS IN With the exception of the two back row players, every member has gotten a hand on at least one block. The Falcons, who have 10 solo stops and 124 assisted blocks in 65 sets, are led by Ayesha Hein s 42 total blocks (five solo, 37 assisted) and Kristen Holt s 27 total stops (three solo, 24 assisted). CAN YOU DIG IT? With 287 digs in the first 65 matches of the season, Maiya Perich has blasted past her previous seasonbest (230 digs in 103 sets during the 2010 season). COME ONE, COME ALL The gym was jumping on Oct. 8, as 1001 fans packed into Falcon Court at East Gym for the Falcons match with Boise State. That total is the best of the season for Air Force, as well as the sixth-highest total in the program s Division I history. In the first seven matches of the season, Air Force has recorded three of the top 10 attendance totals in Division I history. NOW SERVING Cami Richan collected her 10th service ace of the season against TCU on Oct. 1. She became the fifth Falcon to tally at least 10 service aces on the year, joining Josalynn Wise (13), Ayesha Hein (13), Maiya Perich (12) and Emma Dridge (12). MAKING A CONNECTION Highlighted by three Falcons posting hitting percentages of at least.200, the Falcons recorded their best single-match hitting average of the conference season against TCU. Bolstered by Ayesha Hein s.333 (7k-3e-12a), Victoria Foster s.243 (16k-7e-37a) and Cami Richan s.200 (12k-4e-40a), Air Force combined for a.179 hitting tally (42k-21e-117a). GOING FOR TWO Against New Mexico on Sept. 29, Josalynn Wise and Megan Clary became the first Falcons since conference play opened to tally multiple aces in a match, as they both recorded two aces during the match. THE SWING SET Cami Richan hit a season-best.345 against Wyoming on Sept. 24. The sophomore accounted for 10 kills on 29 swings, while committing no errors. It is tied for the sixth-best hitting performance of the season and the only in the top 10 without an attacking error. HEIN NAMED TO ALL-TOURNEY TEAM For the fourth straight week, Ayesha Hein was named to an all-tourney team, claiming honors at the Aggie Invitational. Over three matches, Hein recorded 27 kills and a.279 hitting percentage. She also added three digs and six total blocks, including one solo stop. She posted double-figures in kills during both the Seattle (11) and Hofstra (10) matches, while hitting a match-best.450 (10k-1e-20a) against Hofstra. FALCONS HIT AT A SEASON-BEST.302 CLIP Air force hit a season-best.302 on Sept. 16, connecting on 42 of 96 attempts and committing just 13 errors. Kristen Holt paced the Falcons with a seasonbest.600 hitting percentage, accounting for six kills on 10 attempts and no errors. Megan Clary (.333, 5k-1e-12a) and Ayesha Hein (.318, 11k-4e-22a) each hit over.300 on the day. Both defensive specialists Emma Dridge and Maiya Perich went a perfect one-for-one, recording their first kills of the season. MORE ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS Ayesha Hein was named to the all-tournament team of the Falcon Invitational marking the third straight week that the freshman has earned all-tourney honors. She paced the Falcons in kills against SC Upstate (19) and Northern Arizona (10), while hitting a teamleading.571 (19K-3e-28a) against the Spartans and a.533 (9k-1e-15a) against Utah Valley. She also added three service aces, six digs and seven total blocks. COMING TOGETHER Against SC Upstate, the Falcons hit a season-best.293, connecting on 61 of 140 attempts with 20 errors. Highlighting the outing was a.423 performance in the second set (16k-5e-26a), while Air Force hit over.300 in all three of its winning sets (.378 in the first,.306 in the fourth). MORE AWARDS FOR THE FALCONS Maiya Perich was voted as the Best Libero of the Denver Invitational by the tournament coaches and Ayesha Hein was also selected to the all-tournament team. It is the second straight week that the pair has earned all-tournament honors. In addition, Perich was selected as the Academy s Athlete of the Week. MEET THE ALL-TOURNEY FALCONS Maiya Perich dug 70 balls over the weekend, led all players in digs during all three Air Force contests and successfully converted 104 of 110 serves. Ayesha Hein recorded 37 kills and eight total blocks over the three-match weekend, highlighted by a hitting clip of.500 (15k-1e-28a) in the Falcons win over Bryant. EQUAL MEASURES Cami Richan and Ayesha Hein combined for 30 kills as Air Force defeated Bryant in four sets (Sept. 2). Hein hit a team-best.500 during the match, connecting on 15 of 28 attempts, while committing just one error. CAN YOU DIG IT? Maiya Perich set a new Air Force Division I singlematch record on Sept. 1, as she accounted for 36 digs in the Falcons 3-2 loss to Denver. Perich, who easily broke the program s old record of 29, was one of three Falcons to tally double-digit dig totals as the squad combined for a season-best 80 total digs. GOOD COMPANY As the Division I single-match record-holder, Maiya Perich is in good company. Current assistant coach Louella Maxwell holds the program s all-time and Division II record with 45 digs in a match in COLLCTING A WIN On Aug. 30, Air Force collected its first set win over Northern Colorado (25-21) since 2004.

4 IT S OFFICIAL Air Force is one of the youngest teams in the country, as 93.7% of its opening day roster was made up of freshmen and sophomores. The Falcons edged out Buffalo (92.8%), as those were the only two programs in the nation to feature a roster with at least 83% of its team in either their first or second-year of competition. TAKING HOME THE HARDWARE Ayesha Hein and Maiya Perich were named to the all-tournament team of the Kristen Dickmann Invitational. Perich posted a team-leading 26 digs, while adding a pair of service aces. Hein had a stellar debut weekend for the Blue and Silver, accounting for a team-leading 26 kills,.333 hitting percentage, seven service aces and five total blocks. Hein was also selected as the Academy s Athlete of the Week. STAT FACT In three matches, the Falcons accounted for 25 aces. That was one-fourth of the total number of aces that Air Force recorded all of last year (104). DID YOU KNOW? Air Force is now 9-1 all-time against Navy. OPENING WEEKEND RECAP The Falcons went 1-2 to open the 2011 season, falling to Bowling Green (0-3) and St. John s (0-3), before sweeping Navy in straight sets. LONE STAR STATE OF MIND Over half of the Falcons 13-player roster hails from the state of Texas. Casey Boyle (Dallas), Lizzy Carpenter (Murphy), Megan Clary (Sunnyvale), Emma Dridge (Allen), Victoria Foster (El Paso), Maiya Perich (Houston) and Josalynn Wise (Amarillo) all call Texas home. LEADING THE WAY Junior Maiya Perich and sophomore Claire Bieber were selected as co-captains of the 2011 squad. It is the first time since 2008 that two teammates have shared the captaincy duties.
