The Falcons will welcome league newcomer Nevada on Thursday, Oct. 11, before hos ng San Diego State for the final me as a conference foe on Saturday, Oct. 13. MATCH INFORMATION Both matches are slated to begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. Single-match ckets are $5 ($2 youth), while season ckets are $25 ($10 youth). SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK Mountain West newcomer Nevada enters Thursday s match with the Falcons holding a 4-14 overall record, as well as a 1-4 mark in league play. Last weekend, the Wolfpack dropped a five-set decision to instate rival UNLV, before being swept by Fresno State at home. Tessa Lea ea currently leads Nevada in both kills and blocks, holding per-set averages of 3.06 and 1.40, respec vely. A COACHING CONNECTION Nevada head coach Ruth Lawanson served as an assistant for Air Force during the seasons. SCOUTING THE AZTECS In its final season in the Mountain West, San Diego State is currently 11-6 on the year (3-2). The Aztecs, who will first visit Boise State on Oct. 11, are coming off of a pair of five-set victories over Fresno State and UNLV last weekend. Four players average over 2.30 kills per set, while Summer Nash leads the way with a 3.07 average. In addi on, three Aztecs average over one block per set, highlighted by Emily Harris 1.25 average. A LOOK AT THE CONFERENCE Maiya Perich is ranked second in the conference with a 4.72 digs per set average, while Hillary Keltner is ranked fourth in assists with a 9.96 average. Cami Richan is ranked fi h in kills (3.45 kps) and 10th in points (3.63 pps), while Keltner con nues to lead the league in double-doubles with 12. MORE FROM THE LEAGUE STANDINGS Cami Richan s 27 kills against Arkansas State remains the conference s second-highest overall single-match performance of the season, while Maiya Perich s 30 digs against Army is ed for fourth. It is the second me this season that Keltner has paced the team in both stat categories. BY THE NUMBERS Air Force dropped a 3-0 decision to Boise State during its final conference trip to Idaho. The match marked the Falcons first three-set loss since Aug. 31 a span of 12 matches. During that span, the Falcons played three three-set matches (3-0), six four-set matches (1-5) and three five-set matches (2-1). GOING OUT WITH A BANG The Falcons closed out an impressive seven-match homestand with a drama c 3-2 comeback victory over instate rival Denver on Sept. 25. Despite trailing 2-1 (18-25, 25-20, 19-25) a er three sets, the Falcons responded with 26-24, 15-9 victories to defeat the Pioneers. Highlighted by a.350 hi ng performance (10k-3e-20a) in the deciding set, Air Force hit.230 or be er in its three winning sets. FAST FACTS The Falcons victories over Fresno State (Sept. 22) and Denver (Sept. 25) marked the first me since 2003 that Air Force recorded consecu ve wins outside of tournament play. The win over DU also marked the Falcons fourth home win of the season. That is ed with the 2008 squad for the second most home victories in the last decade, trailing only the 2003 team that amassed six home wins. SHERRILL SHINES AGAINST INSTATE TEAMS Colorado na ve Maggie Sherrill posted her two highest kill totals of the season against teams from within her home state. The freshman amassed 18 kills against Denver on Sept. 25 to be er her previous career-high total of 15 that she set against Colorado on Sept. 13. Sherrill also recorded a career-high five blocks and her first service ace of the year against the Buffs. KELTNER NAMED AF ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Hillary Keltner, who became the seventh Division I player in Academy history to record 1000 career assists on Sept. 20 and helped Air Force to its first Mountain West victory in two years on Sept. 22 was selected as the Air Force Athlete of the Week. She is the third volleyball player to earn the department s weekly award this season. FALCONS CLAIM CONFERENCE VICTORY OVER FRESNO STATE Air Force defeated Fresno State 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, to record their first Mountain West win since 2010 and just the second conference victory since the end of the 2005 season. The Falcons, who hit.258 as a team, recorded six players with hi ng percentages over.200, including three that posted averages over.300. Cami Richan led the team with 16 kills, while Felicia Clement added 11. A LOOK AT THE CONFERENCE Maiya Perich is ranked second in the Mountain West with a 4.86 digs-per-set average, while the team is ranked fourth with a average. In addi on, Hillary Keltner is ranked fourth in assists (9.98) and Cami Richan is ranked fourth in kills (3.50) and ninth in points (3.72). BUT WAIT THERE S MORE With 10 double-doubles in 15 matches, Hillary Keltner con nues to lead the Mountain West. DID YOU KNOW? As a team, the Falcons hit over.250 during the two season-opening matches (.261, vs. UNLV;.258 vs. Fresno State). Air Force had only hit over.250 in a conference match one other me since HOME SWEET HOME The win over Fresno State marked the third home win of the season for the Falcons. That is already the most since the Falcons picked up four victories at the Academy during the 2008 season. WELCOME BACK, TAYLOR Taylor Parker made an immediate impact to the squad upon her return from injury during the third set of the Falcons match with Fresno State. In just two games, the freshman accounted for a career-best matching seven blocks (one solo, six assisted). She also accounted for a.429 hi ng percentage (4k-1e-7a). THE HELPING HAND Backed by a career-best 51 assists on Sept. 20, Hillary Keltner became just the seventh Division I player in Academy history to record 1000 assists in a career. Reached that dis nc on in just 44 matches, she became the second-fastest DI Falcon to reach that mark (Kristen Hui, 37 matches). Her 51 assists are the most in a singlematch since Jessica Hellmann recorded 56 helpers against Louisiana Tech in THE PERFECT DAY Air Force swept CSU Bakersfield (25-15, 25-22, 25-22) and Norfolk State (25-11, 25-19, 25-14) on Sept. 14 to mark the first me since 2009 that the Falcons have won two matches on the same day during non-conference tournament ac on. 4 MAKING IT LOOK EASY As a team, the Falcons hit a season-best.492 against Norfolk State, connec ng on 36 of 63 a empts and commi ng just five errors. Hillary Keltner was a perfect four-for-four, while Ayesha Hein hit.600 (6k-0e-10a). Cami Richan (.583, 7k-0e-21a), Kristen Holt (.500, 3k-0e-6a) and Felicia Clement (.429, 8k-2e-14a) all hit above.400 for the match. The team s.492 average is the second-best single-match performance in the conference to-date. THE SHERRILL SHOWCASE Maggie Sherrill had a career night against Colorado, tallying 15 kills, five blocks and her first collegiate service ace. Sherrill, who had 11 total kills prior to the CU match, more than doubled her previous high of seven. WHAT A MATCH! Air Force and Colorado hadn t faced each other since 2000 made up for lost me of Sept. 13, ba ling to a thrilling five-set (35-37, 26-28, 26-24, 25-21, 12-15) victory by the Buffs. The Falcons 35 points in the opening set is a new program record (since moving to the 25-point scoring system in 2008), as is the 124 total points. BY THE NUMBERS Since moving to the 25-point scoring system in 2008, Air Force s 124 total points against Colorado broke the previous record of 116 that was set in the Falcons five-set victory over Long Island in Air Force has scored more than 110 points on just three occasions, including the Long Island and Colorado matches. The 35-point first set broke the program standard of 30 that came against South Dakota State in PUTTING IT IN PERSPECTIVE Over the last decade... which includes the old 30-point scoring system... Air Force has only accounted for more than 124 points in a match four mes (132 vs. Centenary-2006; 126 vs. Chicago State-2007; 125 vs. Utah Valley State-2005; 125 vs. Marist-2007) and it has only scored more than 35 points in a set once (36 vs. Denver-2004). PERICH BREAKS THE 1,000-DIG MARK Maiya Perich became the first player since Amie Grabanski in 1995 to reach the 1000-dig plateau at the Academy. During a 30-dig performance against Army on Sept. 8, the program s Division I record-holder reached another milestone with her 1000th career dig. The 30-dig output was the second-best single-match total in DI history falling just shy of the 36 she recorded last year in a five-set contest at Denver. CAN YOU DIG IT? Air Force collected 93 total digs against the Black Knights, pos ng the program s highest total since a 95-dig performance against North Carolina A&T in Maiya Perich paced the Falcons with 30 digs, while Hillary Keltner recorded her first 20-dig match and Josalynn Wise added 10. Rebecca Bates, a defensive specialist who recorded her first collegiate kill against the Black Knights, narrowly missed a double-digit total with eight. HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT Five Falcons hit be er than.300 against The Citadel on Sept. 8, with Hillary Keltner leading the squad with a.583 average (7k-0e-12a). Ayesha Hein averaged.467 (7-0-15), while Lizzy Carpenter posted a mark of.350 (9-2-20) and Victoria Foster added a total of.333 ( ). Taylor Parker, the only non-sophomore of the group, rounded out the group of Air Force a ackers with a.308 average (6-2-13). A er dropping the first two sets (13-25, 14-25) to Navy on Sept. 7, the Falcons roared back to win the final threes (25-17, 25-17, 15-12) and take the match from the Mids. The win, the Falcons first five-set victory since defea ng Hofstra in 2010, improved Air Force to 10-1 all- me against their service academy rivals from Navy. FALCONS TAKE ONE FROM NORTHERN COLORADO The second-set victory over Northern Colorado on Sept. 1 marked just the third me since the two teams renewed their rivalry in 2004 that the Falcons have taken the Bears to extra sets. PERICH BECOMES ALL-TIME D-I DIGS LEADER With 25 digs against North Dakota State, Maiya Perich set a new Air Force Division I record for digs in a season. Bringing her career total to 929 at the conclusion of the match, Perich broke Brooke Effland s 1999 mark of 925. The record came just one match a er Perich became just the second D-I Falcon to break the 900-dig mark. She is the first Air Force player since 2003 to impact the program s Division I record book. VOLLEYBALL MATCH NOTES

5 RICHAN EARNS A PAIR OF HONORS Cami Richan was named to the all-tournament team of the Rice Invita onal and claimed the Air Force Athlete of the Week award a er ranking second among all Rice tournament par cipants with 4.70 kills per set. She amassed 47 total kills, highlighted by a career-best 27-kill output during the Falcons win over Arkansas State. PERICH KEEPS CLIMBING With her final dig of the Falcons match against BYU on Aug. 25, Maiya Perich moved into second on the program s all- me Division I list for digs with 877. Through the first weekend of her senior season, Perich has collected 892 digs a mark that is only 33 off of the program standard. KELTNER SETS CAREER MARK Hillary Keltner recorded 46 kills during Air Force s four-set victory over Arkansas State, setting a new personal record. Helping on 88-percent of the Falcons kills in that match, Keltner broke her previous mark of 44 that was set during a five-match set at Denver last year. AIR FORCE = CONFERENCE LEADERS Following a 4.70 kills-per-set weekend at Rice, Cami Richan became the first Air Force volleyball player in the last decade to lead the Mountain West, as she is ranked first in both kills and points (4.85 per set). A FALCON FIRST Tying the opening set at one, Felicia Clement recorded the Falcons first kill of the 2012 season. She also became the first underclassmen to record a double-digit kill total, as she collected 15 against Arkansas State. FRESHMEN RECEIVE NATIONAL RECOGNITION The Falcons impressive nine-member freshmen class became the first recruiting class in program history to earn High Honorable Mention from PrepVolleyball.com, the only website to recognize the nation s top incoming classes for collegiate volleyball. The newest Falcons are one of just two conference teams to earn distinction. OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN Maiya Perich was selected as the squad s captain for the second straight year.
