It seems like yesterday we were having Saints Day, having our 1st school day festivities, and welcoming back students. With our 8th grade Washington DC trip behind us, my thoughts already turn to next year s group of students and parents. If you are a 7th grade student or parent, please start thinking about attending the trip. This is an experience that will last a lifetime for not only the students that go, but the parents that attend as well. We are constantly looking on making the trip better and better each year, so please spread the word to 7th grade students and parents. More details about the 2019 trip will come out around November. The Positivity Project is in full swing here at St. Clair Middle School. As I ve mentioned to many of you before, we are very proud of the reimaging we've done within the school. When you step in our hallways and classrooms, you ll see banners, signs, and even plates on each of the main staircase steps reminding students of positive quotes, the 24 character strengths, and the importance of having an #OtherPeopleMatter mindset. The teachers and staff have done an amazing job of facilitating structured discussions with the students about the mindset and two character strengths thus far, curiosity and teamwork/ citizenship. For the month of October, they will interacting with others about open-mindedness, identifying and appreciating the good in others, integrity, perspective, and creativity. We are extremely proud of this project we call P2 and look forward to continuing to impact our students body in a positive way. Lastly, and as part of The Positivity Project, we encourage all SCMS parents to facilitate some P2 discussions at home. Each week as part of our SCMS Weekly Bulletin, parents are informed on what character strength we are focusing on and a current character card link is provided for parents. CLICK HERE to see the weekly bulletin and check out The Positivity Project article to find the cards, calendar, and more! The more we work as a team, the more chances we will have on making a successful and positive impact on our children. If there is anything that we can help with, please don t hesitate to contact us here at the school. Let s continue to promote #PositivityUnknown2Mankind while keeping in mind that #OtherPeopleMatter.
