George and I had a needed repair done on Varekai last week so she should finally be ready to sleep on this weekend during the July 4 th ac vi es and maybe even go on a cruise this year! I hope you all have your boats in the water and are ge ng out there as o en as possible. Please welcome Bob Molloy as our new Fleet Captain! Bob and Viv Molloy have been members since 2008 and keep their boat at Jackson s Marina. See his bio in this edi on. Due to family and increasing work commitments, Chip DiLoreto had to step down as Secretary. Thanks so much, Chip for volunteering and giving us your me. We need more members to volunteer. Thanks to Viv Molloy for stepping in as ac ng/non-vo ng secretary (again) un l the nomina ng commi ee comes up with a replacement. Won t you please consider taking the posi on? This last week, George & I were in Block Island, Rhode Island with Rick & Sue Hanson for Block Island Race Week. Rosalita placed a healthy 12 th of 25 boats in the J109 class, which was also the J109 Na onal Championships. Not too shabby for Rosalita s first Ocean race and their highest profile race to date. Great job to all the crew; Rick, Sue & Kyle Hanson, Bob & Cindy Gamble, Alex Razzook, John Dearnaley, Rachel Gregor Garguilo and George Braun. As a result, we were unable to a end the Rock Hall Cruise, but from the pictures I saw, they had a great me, in spite of the weather. Don t miss Paul s (or Bob s) updates via for upcoming cruises. 2

3 Back at the club, Chef Ernie con nues to put out great meals. His Father s Day Brunch was a very nice event. The July 4 th Happy Hour and BBQ are up this weekend. Don t miss it. This holiday is always a great one at NERYC. Don t miss announcements of his other upcoming specials and culinary events. Also, don t forget that your club is available for YOUR special event. Our new camp director, Kaitlyn Jurewicz, is ge ng her feet wet with camp now in its second week. Kaitlyn will be sending out a camp update each month. See this month s ar cle in a few pages. 5 Gree ngs from the Learn to Sail Camp! It has been a busy week and a half for students and staff alike. Almost all of our sessions are full or wait lis ng, and feature many repeat campers. Learn to Sail provides a great opportunity for rookie, intermediate, and advanced students to learn new skills and foster their love of sailing. Addi onally, our race team has been busy preparing for weekly rega as, most recently at the West River Sailing Club in Galesville, MD. Thus far, we have received a great deal of posi ve feedback from campers and parents, thanks to the help of dedicated instructors, staff, and parent volunteers. 7 Fleet Captain Bob Molloy Bob is married to Vivian Molloy and has been for over 39 years. He is the father of 3 unusually a rac ve and intelligent daughters who, though ully, have provided 6 gi ed, talented and otherwise aboveaverage grandchildren. Bob is re red a er 40 years as a mainframe so - ware engineer. Bob and Viv operate O Sea One, a 1995 Bayliner a -cabin motor yacht powered, as God intended, by twin diesel engines. We are generally weekend boaters and never re of the loca ons on the upper Bay. His other main avoca on is amateur (ham) radio. He has been licensed since 1983 and currently holds the sta on call sign KD2UJ. 7

12 News and Notes THANK YOU LINDA TALAROWSKI Linda is our unsung hero. She has been the administra ve assistant for NERYC for 15 years. She shows up every Monday through Thursday like clockwork and handles any and everything that comes her way. We are all very grateful to Linda for her good and faithful service. Restaurant Hours: The summer restaurant hours are: Thursday: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday: 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday: 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday: 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Bar hours are an hour later than the restaurant. Your continued patronage is appreciated. When there is an outside event in the Commodore s Ballroom, the Burgee Lounge is available for members. 12
