This day included a fire truck tour, smokehouse, stop, drop & roll demonstration, as well as an overall fire safety discussion with our local volunteer firefighters. Thank you to all those men and women who volunteered their time to come and spend the day with our students! We appreciate all you did and continue to do! Be On the LookOut: We have mailed all our students NWEA MAP results. Please read through the letter included and contact us with any questions you may have. Also, if you want to learn more there will be a presentation to the Board of Education on November 2nd at 7:00 PM in the Secondary School Media Center. Weather: Please remember even as it gets chilly outside, students still go outside for Physical Education, recess, and Bear Breaks. Don t forget appropriate footwear too! Attendance/Lateness: Parents and guardians are essential partners in the educating of our students. It is important to keep in mind the importance that good attendance and punctuality have on a student s educational success and future endeavors. Please find the insert included for facts and easy routines you can establish to help support this effort and/or visit for more information. Teaching and Learning: Congratulations to the following students for having their artwork published in the Giant Pumpkin Party Book: Dayra Cuji-Calle, Savannah Chaboty, James Charlonis, Madison De La Cuadra, Avery Carrier, Aaliyah Valdez-Ramos, Grace Tierney. Ms. McKenna, our Agriculture/Science teacher, applied for the Groovin in the Garden grant for our students and won it! This program is funded by a Public Education Grant administered by the Catskill Watershed Corporation, with funds from the NYC Department of Environmental Protection. Students in 3rd grade will be meeting with a Story Laurie to learn more about our environment and garden-based education. Thank you, Ms. McKenna! Final Thoughts: In my short time in the district, I have observed some awesome instructional practices. Not only do we have great teachers and role models, but they truly care for our children. You are encouraged to talk to your student about their day. If you or your student have any concerns be sure to contact his/her teacher. I m sure they d want to know and help! 2 Athletic News Homecoming Activities Our students took part in many activities during our Homecoming Week. Homecoming Games: 10/12 Boys Varsity Soccer vs. Chester 10/14 Varsity Football vs. Roscoe 10/17 Girls Varsity Soccer vs. Ellenville On October 13th, all of our student-athletes and coaches were treated to an Athletic Dinner to celebrate all of their hard work throughout the season. Following the Athletic Dinner, our teams took part in a Pep Rally. Our Pep Band did a great job providing music for the night under the direction of Mr. Weyant. To complete the night, our students were invited to a Bon Fire. Thank you to the Mr. Hayes and the Sports Field Management class for building the Bonfire. Thank you to the Grahamsville Fire Department for helping throughout the Bonfire and thank you to Mr. Hartman for being our DJ at the Pep Rally and Bonfire. Student Council did an excellent job organizing the event and it was very well attended. Thank you to our Booster Club for all of your efforts to make Homecoming a special experience for our students, parents, fans and alumni. It was a week enjoyed by all! 3 Tri-Va lley Ban d B The Band program is finishing a very busy and exciting Fall season of performances as they provide the soundtrack to life for the Tri-Valley school and community. In the past six weeks, our talented students have performed dozens of tunes for the Pumpkin Party parade, three football games, and the Homecoming Pep Rally. Many students have also attended extra Pizza Jam rehearsals where they built friendships and added new songs to our growing Pep Band repertoire. The entire High School Concert Band also performed a concert at the Pumpkin Party to an enthusiastic crowd. They opened with the rousing White River Canyon Overture, and also performed crowd pleasers such as: Star Wars Highlights, and Bohemian Rhapsody. The 7/8 Concert Band worked extra hard to perform the National Anthem and Pep Band music at the Homecoming football game. This has been a record breaking year when it comes to participation in Pep Band and Jazz Band. It has been really exciting to see so many new students and veterans coming to pizza jams, games, rallies, and jazz band rehearsals! The Jazz Band is a true Big Band this year and they have been hard at work to prepare for the upcoming True Colors Cabaret on October 27th. We hope you will join us next Friday at 6:30pm in the upstairs gym for a great night of music with your friends! We would like to congratulate Aidan Mentnech on being selected to play flute for the Area All State Band. He is the first flutist from Tri-Valley to earn a spot in this prestigious Band in at least two decades! It required performing an extremely difficult college level solo, along with 15 scales for a judge last Spring. He also had to perform a difficult sight-reading exercise with no preparation. He received an almost perfect score! Tri-Valley will be hosting the Area All State festival November 17th and 18th. Many of the best musicians in the state of New York will perform at this festival. Lastly, we are preparing some great music for the Veterans Day assembly in November, and our upcoming Winter Concerts. We hope you will mark your calendars now and come support our talented music students! The High School Winter Concert is December 12th, at 7pm, in the Bernstein Theatre. The 5th-8th Grade Concert is December 13th. Thank you for all your support!

Beginning Wed 2017, two programs will be held each Wednesday: one from 9:00-9:45 a.m. and one from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Mother Goose Time will end on Wednesday, December 13, Stories, felt stories, cra s, music, and friendship-building geared for wee ones ages months. two programs will be held each Friday: one from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and one from 11:30 a.m. Toddler me will end on Friday, December 15, Our classic, beloved program for three, four, and five year-old children, featuring the Magic Bag, a read-aloud, felt stories, cra projects, and music. Beginning 7, two programs will be held each Thursday: one from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and one from 10:30 11:30 a.m. Story Hour will end on Thursday, December 14, Hour Our Story Hour on the Road program visits the three UPK classes at Tri-Valley Central School. (Children will be registered at school.) Our children s programs are open to caregivers and their children ages 12 months to five years who are residents of the Tri-Valley Central School District. The eight-week long sessions begin the week of October 16, All of the children have the opportunity of taking home books to read. These programs are free and are made possible through the generosity of our community. 7 STUFF THE BUS The Tri-Valley Teachers Association Cares Coalition is proud to announce our 5th annual Stuff the Bus campaign! On Saturday, October 28 th at the PTO s Trunk or Treat there will be an empty school bus ready to be filled with food! Our goal is to stuff the bus with Thanksgiving food for Tri-Valley families in need this holiday season. We will collect food items from approximately 1:00 until 3:00. Donations can also be brought to room 67 in the elementary school (Mrs. Russell s classroom). This year our bus will be transformed into a minion mobile with the full cast of characters from Despicable Me played by some of your own Tri-Valley teachers! For admission to Trunk or Treat, we are asking for a donation of one of the following items: boxed mashed potatoes boxed stuffing canned corn canned green beans canned gravy canned sweet potatoes We appreciate your support in helping to make the 5th annual Stuff the Bus campaign a success!
