2 2 Glen Solomon - Commodore Hello Everyone, Hope you all enjoyed the Halloween celebrations. Deborah, Gary and team tossed a frighteningly fun night of dancing, costume contests, spiritual readings and live music. Thank you Deborah for all the parties this year. You are amazing and have a great team of people. The elections are on. The ballots have been mailed out. Don t delay in returning your vote. If you have questions about someone on the ballot, please ask around. Someone will be able to tell you a little bit about each of them. We had two memorials at sea this month. We bid farewell to Dave Peterson and John Grote. We ll always remember them. PMYC House Management was transferred from Candy Brown and Mike Blumenthal to Barrie Harnett this month. I personally thank Candy, Mike and their team of doers for all the effort they ve put into our house these past five years. I also thank Barrie for stepping up to provide the club his experienced hand in management of restaurants and bars. Thanksgiving Dinner will be held at the club this year for those that don t go off to see their families. Come to the club and share the Holiday with other Club members and watch some football. December 11, 2015 will be the Changing of the Guard. This is a special night for the Club. Newly elected Officers and Directors are sworn in this evening and we enjoy a nice dinner afterwards. Try to attend. This is a once a year celebration. The Christmas Parade is the very next day. PMYC Parade committee meetings are being scheduled. If you have a creative side or want to simply be part of building out the presentation, please watch your s and get involved. My term as Commodore is nearing its end. Let me say thank you for all the support and effort each of you contributed these past two years. We have a great group of people, have lots of fun and that is what PMYC is known for. Let s keep the momentum. Sincerely, Glen Solomon Commodore 2015

3 3 Curt Bersche - Rear Commodore Thank you to all who have prepared a Friday Night Dinner this year. It is very much appreciated and it is always great to enjoy our club members fantastic culinary skills. The Friday Night Dinner calendar is now filled through the end of the year. Great job and thank you so much to everyone who participated. I would like you all to welcome our newest members who were voted in to the Club in October: Raiff Pamplin and Brenton Spies. When you see them up at the Club, please introduce yourself and make them feel at home. Raiff Pamplin Brenton Spies Thank you and we will see you at the Club or on the water! Curt Bersche Rear Commodore Membership Chairman

4 4 Keith Mott - Fleet Captain Greetings All, Well, a great year and fun cruises. Thank you to all who came out, helped out and supported the club cruises. They were fun and a great experience for all. Looking forward to next year s cruises. Racing, well brace yourselves. Next year I am looking forward to seeing PMYC club members involved in the racing events next season and yes, I am thinking about getting in a couple as a crew member. As the fall season is upon us and we are using our boats less, now might be the best time to get your boat out the water and get it serviced. One advantage about Sunny Cali is that boats here do not have to be hulled out and winterized like our Eastern counterparts. Have a Safe and fun Thanksgiving with your families.

5 5 Sam Edwards - Port Captain Hello Everyone, Unfortunately, my work has kept me away from the club for the entire month of October. I am currently in NYC for the Marathon then off to Philadelphia for some Hockey and Basketball before I can get back to the west coast. I won t be back there for another couple of weeks. I have tried to keep in touch with what is happening around the Club. Not always an easy thing. This time of year the cruising visitors to our docks tapers off. But party season spins up. The club puts on some pretty good parties, so let s try to attend these events and have a good time. The OD schedule has been completed through the end of the year. Please look at it to see if you are on there. If you cannot make the schedule try to find someone to fill in for you or switch with someone. Every member is obligated to this duty. Please contact me at pmyc.samedwards@gmail.com Port Captain Sam Edwards

9 9 Rusty Dooley TV CREDITS Comedy Central, Stump the Millionaire, 8 Guys and Tosh.0. Rusty Dooley is one of today's hottest rising comedians. His high concept, high energy comedy leaves audiences gasping for air around the country and internationally. He recently returned from a world tour with Russell Peters, performing sold out shows in 5,000 seat theaters in the Far East and India. His visual style and theatrical show cross all language barriers. Dooley honed his craft at the Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip. His love for movies and passion for comedy have combined and developed over a 10- year period, and the result is Dooley's act as it is today. Where better to develop an act built around movie scenes than Hollywood? Originally from Chicago, Dooley moved to Los Angeles in He showcased at all the local clubs and became a fixture at the Laugh Factory, Dublin's, and of course, the Comedy Store. The bar was set pretty high for him as he was forced to follow some of the biggest names in the business on stage every night. Even though he was the newcomer, it did not take long for the veterans to see the way he could get a crowd pumped up with his animated style and whirlwind blend of props and costumes. Nobody wanted any part of following him, nobody. Dooley was recently voted the Funniest Comic by 944 Magazine. He currently has a deal with Miramax Films to produce a one hour comedy DVD. His show features comedic scenes from classic films such as Top Gun, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Terminator, Jurassic Park, Alien, Batman, Braveheart and many more. His act stands out from that of a traditional comedian. Dooley takes his audiences on an adventure not soon forgotten. Catch him when you can.

Our costume winners were Terry & Wendi Matchett for Best Couple. Gary Panas AKA Donald Trump was the winner for Funniest. Leslie Bond got Most Creative and Greg Charles got the Scariest. A big thank you to Carol Butte & Michael Murbarger, our bartenders for the evening. Special thanks to our celebrity guest Donald Trump for working the door. Deborah Pitt Entertainment Chairman

14 14 FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER Is one of Pacific Mariners Yacht Club s great traditions. Nearly every Friday night (exceptions include cruise weekends or a big event on Saturday) a PMYC member volunteers to host dinner for the membership. They cook the meal in our professional galley or bring in a meal created by a local restaurant. Prices usually run from $7-$12 per person, depending on the fare served. The Friday Night Dinner Sign-up sheet is posted in the galley. Sign up and show off your cooking talents or amaze us with an old family favorite recipe! It's all about members getting together and starting the weekend with good times, good food and good friends! If you would like to prepare a Friday Night Dinner, please contact Rear Commodore Curt Bersche rearcommodore@pmyc.org

21 21 My name is Albert A. Correia. Many of my happiest days were as a member of PMYC in the 70s and the 80s. In fact, you may still have a chair there with my name on it. That was a long time ago, but we bought some pretty good chairs. I've been living in Costa Rica for twenty years, so. I haven't been around the marina much in recent years. My latest novel, "Seeking Safe Harbor" was published in late August. As the title suggests, it takes place on the water. It is a "thriller" that involves a cruising family caught in the South Seas when WWIII, a nuclear holocaust, erupts.. Lots of action. The family, by the way, are on a 41 ft. ketch, which is what I had in the days I was in the marina. In fact, it was on your wall for years (The Terrific Taiwan Turkey Tussle). If you're wondering what has happened with "Seeking Safe Harbor," since it was published seven weeks ago, the news has all been good. It has been in the top one hundred on Amazon's "Sea Adventures" from the start and hasn't been out of the top twenty for over two weeks. It was at No. 7 a few days ago, and right now is at No. 13 (it changes every hour). Thanks again for allowing me to attend the Friday night dinner. It was great to spend a few hours at a place that has provided me with great memories. And, thanks to the members who picked up copies of the book. They helped get it to where it is on the "hit list." MEMBERS: Advertise your business in The Log. $10 per month; $100 for one year.
