Science Olympiads win State Competition The Medomak Middle School Science Olympiad team came in first in the state at the competition at the University of Maine in Orono last Saturday and now hopes to advance to the national competition at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Despite the fact that the team lost Jasmine H. (who had a last minute family commitment) and Joseph P. (who was engaged the same day coming in 10th place in the entire state at the state MATHCOUNTS competition) the team pulled together with a mighty, final effort to enter every event and garner a first place trophy. The winning team members were Abby and Katrina W., Caleb and Jacob S., Laurel and Jerin B., Rose H., Christopher P., Amber H., Antyna G., Hui K., Claire L., and Noah M assisted by Joseph P. who continued to help at every practice even when he knew he could not be at the competition. The team would like to extend a huge thank you to Jason Northrop and to parents Barrie Brusila, Elizabeth Hickey, Scott Gould and Tom Lupien who stepped in to help coach the students to success. Proceeding to the national competition will now require even more hard work and a monumental fund raising effort. Anyone who would like to help the team make it to Ohio by making a contributions, can call Medomak Middle School at or fundraising coordinator, Mindy Gould at
