2 Scpe Fuel Cycle cmpnents t be prcured by F4E are part f the fllwing systems: Vacuum Pumping. Tritium Plant. Radilgical and Envirnmental Mnitring Systems. Waste Management Systems. Thse cmpnents are defined by IO at the cnceptual design, preliminary design r final design level and then prcured by F4E. Cnsequently F4E prcurement packages can be f three types: functinal specificatin (frm preliminary design t n-site delivery) r detailed design (frm final design t n-site delivery) r build-t-print (manufacturing and n-site delivery). 3 Vacuum pumping (1/6) Equipment: Crypumps = vacuum pumps which trap gases and vapurs n a cld surface. Cld valve bxes and crylines. Duties: T prvide trus and crystat with clean, ultra high vacuum at large pumping speed. T pump the gas fed t the in surces and neutralizers f the neutral beams. T distribute helium t and frm the crypumps. Prcurement plan: Cntracts fr design. Cntracts fr manufacturing (including final design fr the cld valve bxes and crylines). Experience required: Fr design: vacuum, crygenics, cnstructin cdes. Fr manufacturing: welding and machining, helium leak detectin, metrlgy, cleanliness, cating, pressure equipment. 5 Vacuum pumping (3/6) Cld Valve Bxes (CVBs) CVB Status: Call fr tender in preparatin. Scpe: Prcurement includes final design, manufacturing and n-site delivery f twelve CVBs and their auxiliaries. Duties: Cntrl the necessary supply and return f helium t the pumps s as t guarantee the n-demand cling and regeneratin. Prvide the necessary valves fr the safe peratin f the pumps. Main features: Netwrk f pipes and valves with perating temperatures frm 4.5 K t 470 K. Vacuum vessel f 1.8 m diameter, 2.3 m height. Twenty-five cntrl and n-ff valves, seventeen pressure relief valves, eight Jhnstn cuplings and a thermal shield. Fixed interfaces t match cnnecting lines and systems. 6 Vacuum pumping (4/6) MITICA crypump (neutral beam crypump type) Status: Call fr tender in preparatin. MITICA crypump Scpe: Build-t-print prcurement fr MITICA test facility (Padva, Italy); will be prduced and tested s as t minimize any risk related t the neutral beam crypumps. Main features: A frame supprts panels that are cled dwn t 80 K (thermal shields) and t 4 K (crypanels). Thirty-tw pumping sectins: tp maniflds and supprt structures, stiffener brace, bttm maniflds. Fr each f the tw circuits, the panels are cnnected by means f maniflds and pipes. Inlet/utlet f the fluid is ensured thanks t Jhnstn cuplings welded n the main vacuum flange. Scpe: Build-t-Print prcurement; is being built and will be tested s as t minimize any risk related t the Trus and Crystat crypumps i.e., Address technlgical challenges; Specify the instrumentatin needs f these vacuum pumping systems; Analyze their perfrmance and incrprate safety prvisins. Main features: Cmpsed f tw crygenic circuits: Radiatin shields; Charcal cated crypanels. Panels enclsed in a vacuum chamber made up f: Pump casing; Pump plug; Frnt flange.
