RHPs James Shields and Lucas Giolito are the scheduled starters for the White Sox, who were postponed yesterday for the fi fth time this season and fi rst in Chicago. The Sox are coming off a three-game sweep at Cleveland in which they were outscored by a 24-5 margin. Following this four-game series and a day off on Monday, the Sox conclude the homestand with three games vs. Minnesota (6/26-28). The Sox went 2-5 on their last homestand vs. Cleveland (2-2) and Detroit (0-3) from 6/ ROSTER MOVES Prior to the fi rst game of today's doubleheader, the White Sox returned OF Avisaíl García and INF Leury García from their injury rehab assignments at Class AAA and reinstated both from the 10-day disabled list, optioned INF José Rondón to Charlotte and designated OF Trayce Thompson for assignment. The White Sox 40-man roster decreases to 38. TODAY'S STORYLINES The White Sox are a season-high 25 games under.500 the Sox have been outscored, 43-16, during their seven-game losing streak. The Sox have lost four straight home games after going 9-5 in their previous 14. The White Sox have lost fi ve straight games to Oakland (all at the Coliseum) and eight of the last nine. James Shields owns a 2.85 ERA (13 ER/41.0 IP) over his last six home starts (all quality) Shields has thrown at least 6.0 IP in 11 straight starts, his longest streak since 9/9/15-5/25/16 when he went 14 in a row. The Sox are hitting.202 (91-450) with 34 runs scored over their last 14 games (2.4 R/G). WEDNESDAY'S RECAP Corey Kluber combined with two relievers on a two-hitter as Cleveland completed its second three-game home sweep of the White Sox this season with a 12-0 victory. Reynaldo López (4 ER/4.1 IP) suffered the loss to fall to 0-2 with a ERA (11 ER/7.0 IP) in two starts against Cleveland in 2018 Bruce Rondón gave up six runs in 1.0 IP of relief. Omar Narváez (second-inning single) and José Abreu (ninthinning double) collected the only hits for the Sox, who were shut out for the eighth time this season. The Sox lost their seventh straight game in Cleveland. OF Joel Booker matched his career high (fifth time) in his Class AA Birmingham debut, going 4-5 with with a double, stolen base and two runs scored. Booker a 22nd-round pick in 2016, is batting.310/.398/.482 (61-197) with fi ve homers, 21 RBI, 41 runs scored and 15 steals in 54 combined games this season between Birmingham and Class A Winston-Salem. OFs Blake Rutherford and Micker Adolfo, the No. 7 and 10 prospects in the Sox organization per MLB Pipleline, both homered last night for Class A Winston-Salem OF Luis Robert, the Sox No. 3 prospect and No. 24 overal in baseball, went 1-3 with a RBI, run scored and stolen base in his Winston-Salem debut. WHITE SOX VS. OAKLAND The A's lead the season series, 3-0, sweeping a three-game series from 4/16-18 at the Coliseum. The White Sox are batting.252/.313/.358 (31-123) with a 8.49 ERA (28 ER/29.2 IP) and have been outscored, The Sox were 1-5 in 2017 (0-3 at home and 1-2 on the road) for their fi rst losing record against Oakland since Oakland's three-game sweep on 6/23-25/17 was its fi rst at Guaranteed Rate Field since The White Sox are all-time, going at home (61-64 at Guaranteed Rate Field) and on the road. CWS AT THE CWS White Sox draft choices INF Nick Madrigal (first round, Oregon State), LHP Konnor Pilkington (third round, Mississippi State) and RHP Davis Martin (14th round, Texas Tech) all helped their teams reach the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. Madrigal went 2-6 with two runs scored on Wednesday as Oregon State rallied to defeat North Carolina, 11-6, in an elimination game the Beavers play Mississippi State today at 2:00 p.m. CT in the double elimination round. Texas Tech was eliminated last night with a 9-6 loss to Florida. BULLPEN RELIEF The White Sox bullpen owns a 2.69 ERA (35 ER/117.0 IP) in 37 games since 5/13, the fourth-best mark in the major leagues. Joakim Soria owns a 0.00 ERA (12.2 IP) over his last 13 appearances, converting all six save chances with five hits allowed, two walks and 13 strikeouts. Jace Fry has posted a 2.25 ERA (5 ER/20.0 IP) with 26 strikeouts and a.151 (11-73) opponents average in 20 appearances this season. Xavier Cedeño has made seven straight scoreless appearances since joining the White Sox on 6/7. PITO STILL FIRST AT FIRST José Abreu continues to lead American League fi rst basemen in fan balloting for the MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard as of 6/19, Abreu had received 636,666 votes to widen his lead over Boston's Mitch Moreland (472,245). Abreu is the fi rst White Sox player to lead at any point in the balloting process since Frank Thomas won the fan election at fi rst base in He would be the sixth Sox player (11th time) to be fan-elected as a starter to the All-Star Team, joining Thomas ( ), Carlton Fisk ( ), Richie Zisk (1977), Dick Allen ( ) and Luis Aparicio (1970). QUALITY AND QUANTITY The White Sox have made a major-league leading 1,345 quality starts since the start of the 2003 season, two more than the second-place New York Mets (1,343) and 44 more than Oakland (1,300), the next-closest American League team. DOUBLE VISION José Abreu ranks second in the major leagues with 27 doubles, and is on pace to hit 60 this season, which would be the most in the major leagues since Colorado's Todd Helton (59) in Abreu, who hit a career-high 43 doubles in 2017, needed just 62 games this season to reach 25, which tied Bibb Falk (25 in 1926) for the fewest in Sox history to reach that milestone. TRIPLE THE FUN The White Sox are tied for third in the major leagues this season with 21 triples the Sox led the AL with 37 triples last season, their most since 1999 (also 37).
