RHP James Shields, who has suffered the loss in each of his last three appearances, is scheduled to start for the White Sox. The Sox opened the trip by winning three off fi ve at Kansas City the club won the first three games by a 21-7 margin before losing the fi nal two contests. Following tomorrow afternoon's fi nale, the White Sox return home for a six-game, seven-day homestand vs. Minnesota (5/3-6) and Pittsburgh (5/8-9). The Sox went 1-5 on their last homestand vs. Houston (0-3) and Seattle (1-2) from 4/20-25, and 0-4 on their last trip to Minnesota (0-1; three postponements) and Oakland (0-3) from 4/ TONIGHT'S STORYLINES White Sox starters own a 3.18 ERA (18 ER/51.0 IP) over the last nine games (22.24 ERA over the previous four contests). Chicago relievers own a 2.08 ERA (6 ER/26.0 IP), 20 strikeouts and are 3-4 in save opportunities over the last eight games. The Sox have recorded losing records during interleague play in each of the last three seasons, going overall they are 6-17 over the last 23 games and have been outscored, Yoán Moncada is hitting.340/.407/.736 (18-53) with four doubles, one triple, fi ve home runs, 10 RBI and 11 runs scored over his last 13 games he owns six multihit efforts and has hit safely in 10 contests during that span. James Shields is looking for his fi rst win since Opening Day at Kansas City he owns a 9.00 ERA (12 ER/12.0 IP) and 2.17 WHIP during his current three-game losing streak. SUNDAY'S RECAP Blaine Boyer induced a game-ending lineout by Trayce Thompson with the tying run in fi rst base to close Kansas City's 5-4 win. Whit Merrifi eld snapped a 4-4 tie with a game-winning, RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning off Bruce Rondón. The White Sox took an early 2-0 lead on Daniel Palka's tworun double in the fourth the Royals scored once in the fourth and three times in the fi fth before the Sox added single runs in the sixth and seventh. Starter Héctor Santiago (2 ER/4.2 IP) received a no decision Rondón suffered his fi rst loss with Chicago. MAJOR MINOR AWARDS Class A Winston-Salem OF Luis Alexander Basabe and Class AA Birmingham C Seby Zavala have been named the White Sox Minor League co-players of the Month for April Class AAA Charlotte RHP Michael Kopech has been named Pitcher of the Month as voted by a panel of Chicago-area media members. Basabe batted.313 (26-83) with seven doubles, three triples, four home runs, 17 RBI, a.400 OBP and.614 SLG over 21 games he reached base safely in 19 of his 21 games. Zavala hit.315 (23-73) with four doubles, six home runs, 19 RBI, a.411 OBP and.616 SLG over 22 games in April he recorded an 11-game on-base streak to begin the season. Kopech went 0-1 with a 2.14 ERA (5 ER/21.0 IP), 29 strikeouts and a.189 (14-74) opponents average over four starts he ranks third in the International League in strikeouts per 9.0 IP (12.4). ANDERSONS GIVE BACK White Sox SS Tim Anderson and his wife, Bria, in conjunction with their League of Leaders organization, today awarded the fi rst Branden Deon Moss (BDM) scholarships. Reagan Ross and Lorenzo Winston, students at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala., were the $500 scholarship recipients after submitting winning essays about their experience with violence and how violence negatively impacts our world. The scholarship is named in honor of Branden Moss, who was killed last year Anderson and Moss were close friends, and both attended Hillcrest High School. EXECUTIVE VISIT Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, White Sox Executive Vice President Ken Williams and Bulls Executive Vice President of basketball operations John Paxson today visited the Strategic Decision Support Center (SDSC) at 007 District Headquarters and spoke with Chicago police offi cers at their daily roll call meeting. The SDSC is the nerve center within the district and uses high-tech tools to predict where violent crimes may occur and has been credited as a successful violence-reduction tool in Chicago. WHITE SOX VS. ST. LOUIS CARDINALS Chicago and St. Louis meet four times this season with two games at Guaranteed Rate Field and two at Busch Stadium. The White Sox have won six of the last 10 meetings dating back to 2006 the Sox and Cardinals split four games in the last season series in Chicago owns a edge in runs scored all-time. DANNY FARQUHAR UPDATE Danny Farquhar, who underwent successful surgery on 4/21 to address a brain aneurysm, continues to show signs of progress and has taken a few short walks on the neuroscience ICU fl oor at Rush University Medical Center with his wife, Lexie. Farquhar remains in critical, but neurologically stable condition in the ICU unit at Rush he is expected to remain in the neurosurgical ICU for the next few weeks.
