RHP Reynaldo López takes the mound for the White Sox, who are on pace to go this season... the club is a season-high tying 29 games below the.500 mark. Chicago opened the homestand by going 2-1 vs. Tampa Bay. Following tomorrow's series fi nale vs. the Indians, the White Sox will conclude the 10-game homestand with a three-game, weekend series vs. San Francisco (9/8-10). Chicago was swept in its brief trip at Minnesota last week from 8/29-31, and went 5-3 on its last homestand vs. the Twins (3-2) and Detroit (2-1) from 8/ TONIGHT'S STORYLINES Chicago is looking to snap an opponent's winning streak of 13 games or more for the fi rst time since 1987, when the club snapped Milwaukee's season-opening, 13-game streak (STATS). The White Sox have won six of their last 10 games, and 11 of 19, at Guaranteed Rate Field. RHP Reynaldo López has allowed fi ve earned runs with 13 strikeouts and a.200 opponents average (9-45) in his two starts this season at Guaranteed Rate Field (two quality starts). Nicky Delmonico has reached base safely in 21 of his fi rst 22 games, joining Greg Mulleavy (1930), George Meyer (1938) and Eddie Malone (1949) as the only Sox to accomplish the feat. Avisaíl García has hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games, hitting.391 (18-46) with one home run, four RBI and a OPS. ROSTER MOVE Prior to tonight's game, the White Sox reinstated INF/OF Nicky Delmonico from the 10-day disabled list. Delmonico was placed on the DL on 8/25 with a sprained right wrist... he is batting.307 (23-75) with six homers, 12 RBI, and 15 walks over 22 games this season, his fi rst in the major leagues. LAST NIGHT'S RECAP Cleveland scored six times over the fi rst three innings and homered four times in its 9-4 win over the White Sox. The Indians scored three times in the fi rst before the Sox answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by Matt Davidson's go-ahead, three-run home run. Greg Allen put Cleveland ahead with a two-run double in the third, and the club added three runs in the ninth. David Holmberg (6 ER/3.0 IP) suffered the loss in his first start since 6/26... Mike Pelfrey and Carson Fulmer each worked 2.2 scoreless IP in relief, and Jace Fry made his major-league debut. Chicago went 1-8 with RISP, left 11 runners on base, struck out 10 times and issued seven walks. STRONG FIRST IMPRESSION RHP Michael Kopech went 9-8 with a 2.88 ERA (43 ER/134.1 IP), 172 strikeouts and a.193 (92-476) opponents average over 25 starts between Class AA Birmingham and Class AAA Charlotte this season, his fi rst in the Chicago organization. He was named the Southern League's Most Outstanding Pitcher, earned White Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Month honors for August/September, was a SL mid and postseason All-Star and represented the Sox at the Futures Game in Miami. Kopech is rated as the No. 12 prospect in baseball by MLB. com and No. 20 by Baseball America. THESE KIDS CAN PLAY The White Sox four full-season minor-league affi liates completed their regular season schedules on Monday below is notable information from the minor-league clubs and players: Class A Kannapolis is the only affi liate to reach the postseason and will face Greensboro in the South Atlantic League semifinals Game 1 is scheduled for tonight at 6:05 p.m. CT. RHP Alec Hansen led the minors with 191 strikeouts, becoming the fi rst Sox farmhand to accomplish the feat since Gio Gonzalez in the 191 strikeouts were the most by a minor leaguer since Colorado's Edwar Cabrera in 2011 (217). RHP Michael Kopech (T5th, 172) and RHP Dane Dunning (T11th, 168) ranked among the MiLB leaders in strikeouts. TOP-ROUND TALENT Chicago's roster includes nine players who were drafted in the fi rst two rounds of the draft, including fi ve since The fi ve players selected over the last six seasons are Lucas Giolito (1st, 2012), Chris Beck (2nd, 2012), Tim Anderson (1st, 2013), Carlos Rodón (1st, 2014) and Carson Fulmer (1st, 2015). The four players selected prior to 2012 are RHP Mike Pelfrey (1st, 2005), Matt Davidson (1st, 2009), David Holmberg (2nd, 2009) and Jake Petricka (2nd, 2010). LOOKING FOR CENTRAL COMMAND The White Sox are vs. the American League Central division this season (16-17 at home) after going in Chicago has lost fi ve straight games, six of the last seven and 15 of 22 vs. the division in The White Sox have gone vs. the AL Central since 2009, with their only winning record coming in 2012 (37-35). ABREU RECEIVES CLEMENTE NOD José Abreu has been named the organization's nominee for the 2017 Roberto Clemente Award he will be honored in a pregame ceremony prior to tonight's game. The Roberto Clemente Award recognizes the player who best represents the game of baseball through sportsmanship, community involvement and positive contributions on and off the field. PITO POWER According to STATS LLC, José Abreu is the fi rst player in White Sox history to begin his major-league career with fourplus consecutive 25-homer seasons, and the 10th in majorleague history to accomplish the feat (see list at right). Abreu needs 18 RBI to become the third player ever to begin his career with four straight seasons of at least 25 HR/100 RBI, joining Joe DiMaggio ( ) and Albert Pujols ( ). Abreu is on pace to record career highs in extra-base hits (79), total bases (334) and hits (187), while his 36 doubles are a career-high the 79 extra-base hits and 334 total bases would each rank in the Top 5 in a season franchise club history. LONGBALL LOGISTICS Chicago has hit 156 home runs and is on pace to fi nish with 184, which would mark its highest total since 2012 (211)... Matt Davidson (24) ranks fourth among Sox rookies, trailing José Abreu (36, '14), Ron Kittle (35, '83) and Zeke Bonura (27, '34). Davidson, Tim Anderson (15), Avisaíl García (14), Leury García (nine) and Yolmer Sánchez (nine) all have set career highs in home runs this season. NO SHORTAGE OF PUNCHOUTS White Sox relievers rank ninth in the American League with 449 strikeouts, and are on pace for a club-record 530. The 449 strikeouts in 2017 are the second-most by a Sox bullpen, trailing the relievers in 2011 (479). Juan Minaya leads current Sox relievers with 43 strikeouts. NO REST FOR THE WEARY The White Sox are currently in a stretch where they fi nish the regular season playing 33 games in 34 days from 8/29-10/1. The Sox only remaining off day is on 9/18 in Houston. A breakdown of Chicago's 25 remaining games this season: Twelve at Guaranteed Rate Field and 13 on the road. Fifteen vs. the American League Central, seven vs. the AL West and three vs. the National League West.
