The Sox are 4-0 on this six-game, seven-day trip, sweeping a three-game series from Minnesota before posting a 1-0 victory last night over the Rays. Following this three-game series, the White Sox return to Chicago for a seven-game homestand vs. the Angels (4/18-21) and Texas (4/22-24). The Sox have just one off day in April (4/12) they play 17 of their fi rst 27 games on the road and 33 of their fi rst 42 outside the AL Central division. TONIGHT'S STORYLINES The White Sox have matched the 1982, 1957, and 1917 clubs for the best 10-game start in franchise history each of those teams won the 11th game in their respective season. At 7-1, the Sox have matched the best road start in frachise history (sixth time, last 1973) four teams in club history have started 8-1 on the road, most recently in Chicago has won fi ve straight games in April for the fi rst time since 4/3-7/08 and is looking for its fi rst winning streak of six-plus games in the opening month since 4/15-23/06 (eight). The White Sox are six games over.500 for the fi rst time since the end of the 2012 season (85-77) they have spent nine days in fi rst place, two more than their combined total from The Sox bullpen owns a 1.11 ERA and has thrown 15.0 consecutive scoreless IP over their last four games. LAST NIGHT'S RECAP Chris Sale threw a complete-game, two-hitter, and Melky Cabrera drove in the game's only run with a two-out single off Alex Colome in the ninth inning as the White Sox won their fi fth straight game, 1-0, at Tampa Bay. Jimmy Rollins opened the ninth with a single, moved to second on Todd Frazier's fl y out and scored on Cabrera's single to right. Sale did not issue a walk, struck out nine and retired 16 straight batters in one stretch as he recorded his ninth career complete game and second shutout (also 5/12/13 vs. the Angels). He improved to 3-0 and joined Wilbur Wood ( ), Jack McDowell (1993) and Mark Buehrle (2002) as the only Sox pitchers since 1972 to record three wins in the team's fi rst 10 games. PITCHING PROWESS The White Sox lead the major leagues in ERA (2.05), bullpen ERA (1.11) and opponents average (.188) and rank second behind Oakland in road ERA (1.52) they have held the opposition to one or no runs in fi ve of their 10 games. Chicago has allowed 12 runs through its first eight road games, the lowest total in franchise history and tied with the 1981 Oakland A's for the fewest by any major-league team over the last 100 years (STATS LLC). The Sox have allowed three runs in their last five road games, tied for the fewest in franchise history (7/29-31/1909) and the lowest fi ve-game total in the majors since Texas gave up two from 7/14-19/11 (STATS). Over their last six road games, the White Sox have allowed five runs, also tied for the lowest total club history (7/29-8/3/1909) and the fewest in the major leagues since Philadelphia gave up fi ve from 4/13-24/11 (STATS). SOX AT 10 Chicago's 2.02 ERA is its lowest through 10 games since 1972 (1.56) and the 10th-lowest mark in the majors since 1994 (Elias). Over the past fi ve seasons, it is the fi fth-lowest ERA after 10, trailing only Detroit in 2015 (1.82), Milwaukee in 2014 (1.86), Washington in 2012 (1.99) and St. Louis in 2015 (2.00). FIRING BLANKS The White Sox lead the American League with two shutouts, marking the fi rst time since 2003 they have held the opposition scoreless twice within the fi rst 10 games. The Sox did not record their second shutout last season until 5/31 at Houston in the team's 49th game. ROAD REVIVAL The White Sox are 7-1 on the road after starting 2-12 in 2015, 2-6 in 2014 and 0-5 in 2013 Chicago's eight road games this season are the most in the major leagues. The Sox lead majors with a 1.52 ERA (12 ER/71.0 IP) on the road, holding opponents to a.174 average (44-253) and allowing four runs or less in all eight games. WHITE SOX VS. TAMPA BAY The White Sox lead the season series, 1-0, after recording their third shutout at Tropicana Field last night. The Sox went 1-5 against the Rays in 2015 (0-3 at Tropicana Field) they batted.239 with a 5.33 ERA and were outscored, four of the six games were decided by one run and a fi fth by two runs. The Sox lead the all-time series, they are at home and at Tropicana Field. NO REST FOR THE WEARY The White Sox are in the midst of a stretch where they play 19 straight games until their next scheduled day off on 5/2. Chicago has one scheduled off day in April, tied with Arizona for the fewest in the major leagues by comparison, the Mets (six) and Kansas City (fi ve) have the most off days in April. QUALITY IN QUANTITY The White Sox have made 1,165 quality starts since the start of the 2003 season, the second-highest total in the major leagues behind the Mets (1,169). The Sox rank second in the American League with eight quality starts this season after leading the league with 98 in 2015, their highest total since 2003 (also 98). Jose Quintana (T2nd, 26) and Chris Sale (T2nd, 25) rank among the AL leaders in quality starts since ALBERS ON A ROLL Matt Albers has thrown 28.1 consecutive scoreless IP over his last 25 appearances dating back to 8/5/15, both the longest active streaks in the major leagues. During his career-best streak, Albers has gone 1-0 with 10 holds, 22 hits allowed, six walks and 21 strikeouts his streak is the longest by a Sox pitcher since Jesse Crain threw 29.0 IP over 29 outings from 4/17-6/22/13. LATOS IN SELECT COMPANY RHP Mat Latos is 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA (1 ER/12.0 IP) and four hits allowed through his fi rst two starts with the White Sox. According to Elias, Latos is just the sixth pitcher since 1913 to win each of his fi rst two starts for the Sox with an ERA under 1.00 he joins Morrie Martin in 1954 (0.52), Harry Byrd in 1955 (0.57), Frank Baumann in 1960 (0.00 ERA), Jack Lamabe in 1966 (0.00) and Ken Brett in 1976 (0.00 ERA). ABREU MAKES HISTORY Jose Abreu ( ) and Albert Pujols ( ) are the only players in major-league history to record 30-plus home runs and 100-plus RBI in each of his fi rst two seasons. Abreu batted.290 with 30 homers and 101 RBI last season after hitting.317 with 36 and 107 as a rookie in Pujols accomplished the feat in each of his fi rst 10 seasons Before the streak ended in PROGRAMMING NOTES The White Sox game on 5/5 vs. Boston has been switched from CSN to CSN+ as a result, both games of the doubleheader on 5/23 vs. Cleveland will be televised by CSN. HONORING EDDIE The White Sox will honor sports broadcasting legend and long-time club executive Eddie Einhorn by wearing an Eddie patch on their uniform sleeve during the 2016 regular season.
