LAST NIGHT S RECAP Oakland scored five runs in the first inning and 10 in the fourth en route to a 17-6 win over Chicago the 17 runs allowed by the Sox were the most since 6/28/13 vs. Cleveland (19-10 loss). The Athletics totaled 16 runs on 15 hits, including six extrabase hits, over the fi rst four innings. Jeff Samardzija suffered his 11th loss after allowing a careerhigh 10 runs on six hits and two homers in 3.0 IP four relievers combined for 4.0 IP before Leury Garcia (1.0 scoreless IP) and Alexei Ramirez (1.0 scoreless) pitched the fi nal two frames.
