Chicago is 3-2 on the homestand vs. Minnesota (2-0) and Boston (1-2) after going 5-2 on the last trip to Toronto and Baltimore. Following today's series fi nale, Chicago will take a six-game, seven-day trip to Texas and New York-AL (5/9-15). The White Sox have spent 27 days in fi rst place this season, compared to 11 total from after playing 19 straight games from 4/13-5/1, Chicago has three days off from 5/2-16. TODAY'S STORYLINES The White Sox own the best record in the American League and the second-best in the major leagues they are off to their best 31-game start since 2006 (22-9). The Sox lead Cleveland and Kansas City by 5.0 games in the AL Central, their largest division lead since 6/13/08 (5.0) the last time the club led the divsion by 6.0 games was 6/10/08. Chicago is looking to move 12 games over.500 for the fi rst time since 9/21/12 (81-69). The White Sox five-game winning streak vs. Minnesota is their longest since 8/16-9/17/13 (also fi ve) the last time the club won six straight over the Twins was 9/23/05-4/23/06. Jose Quintana ranks second in the AL with a 1.40 ERA he is 3-0 with a 0.43 ERA (1 ER/21.0 IP) and 0.81 WHIP during his current three-game winning streak. LAST NIGHT'S RECAP Chris Sale became baseball's fi rst seven-game winner as the White Sox rallied for a 7-2 victory over Minnesota. The Sox overcame an early 2-0 defi cit to take a 3-2 lead after four innings, highlighed by Todd Frazier's game-tying solo homer in the third and Austin's Jackson go-ahead walk in the fourth. Sale improved to 7-0 after allowing two runs on three hits over 7.0 IP he allowed both runs in the fi rst on two hits, one walk and two HBP Sale surrendered just one baserunner after the fi rst and retired 19 of the fi nal 20 Twins he faced (last 11). SALE-ING TO 7-0 Chris Sale improved to 7-0 last night to become just the fi fth White Sox pitcher since 1913 to win his fi rst seven-plus starts of a season, joining Eddie Cicotte (12, 1919), John Whitehead (eight, 1935), Jon Garland (eight, 2005) and Jack McDowell (seven, 1993) source: STATS. Sale also is the first pitcher in the major leagues to accomplish the feat since Arizona's Brandon Webb in 2008 (9-0). Sale ranks among the American League leaders in wins (1st), IP (1st, 50.1), WHIP (1st, 0.77), opponents OPS (2nd,.467), quality starts (T1st, 6), ERA (4th, 1.79), opponents average (2nd,.171) and strikeouts (T3rd, 47). He is 12-2 with a 1.93 ERA (28 ER/130.2 IP) lifetime in May. HIGH Q RATING Jose Quintana ranks second in the American League and third in the majors with a 1.40 ERA (6 ER/38.2 IP) the 1.40 mark is the lowest by a White Sox pitcher through the fi rst six starts of a season since Britt Burns' 1.30 ERA in 1980 (source: Elias). Quintana owns a 0.60 ERA (1 ER/15.0 IP) at home and is limiting left-handers to a.128 average (5-39) overall in He has gone 7-2 with a 2.23 ERA (24 ER/97.0 IP) and 87 strikeouts in 15 starts (13 QS) dating back to 8/15/15 Quintana has allowed three earned runs or less in 11 straight starts. DIVISION DYNAMICS The Sox are 5-1 vs. the American League Central this season after going in 2015, including a at home. The White Sox six-game winning streak vs. the AL Central is their longest since 8/16-9/9/13 (seven straight wins).
