RHP Reynaldo López, who was reinstated from the disabled list prior to tonight's game, takes the mound for the White Sox. Chicago was swept in its brief trip at Minnesota, including a 5-4, walkoff defeat yesterday in the fi nale the club was outscored by the Twins, 22-9, in the three-game sweep. Following this weekend series vs. the Rays, the Sox will continue the 10-game homestand with four games vs. Cleveland (9/4-7) and and three vs. San Francisco (9/8-10). The White Sox went 5-3 on their last homestand vs. Minnesota (3-2) and Detroit (2-1) from 8/ TONIGHT'S STORYLINES The White Sox play 30 games over the fi nal 31 days of the season the club's only off day is 9/18 in Houston. The Sox have won four of their last fi ve games, and nine of 14, at Guaranteed Rate Field. Chicago pitchers own a 2.83 ERA (17 ER/54.0 IP), 45 strikeouts and a.184 opp. average (35-190) over its last six home games starters have made four quality starts during that span. RHP Reynaldo López will make his fi rst start since 8/17 at Texas after being on the disabled list with a back strain. Avisaíl García is hitting.429 (12-28) with one double, one triple, two RBI and a OPS during his eight-game hitting streak he is batting.444/.500/.540 in his last 17 contests, including nine multihit efforts and four three-hit games. José Abreu is hitting.400/.447/.786 (28-70) with seven home runs, 12 RBI and 14 runs scored over his last 18 games. ROSTER MOVES Prior to tonight's game, the White Sox reinstated RHP Reynaldo López from the 10-day disabled list, recalled RHP Carson Fulmer from Class AAA Charlotte and purchased the contract of LHP David Holmberg from Charlotte. López is 0-1 with a 6.97 ERA (8 ER/10.1 IP) and 12 strikeouts in two starts with the White Sox this season. Fulmer made his fi rst MLB start as the 26th man in Game 2 of a doubleheader on 8/21 vs. Minnesota (L; 6 ER/1.1 IP). Holmberg is 2-3 with a 3.55 ERA (20 ER/50.2 IP) and 28 strikeouts in 33 games (six starts) with Chicago this season he was outrighted to Charlotte on 8/11. LET'S MAKE A DEAL Chicago last night acquired INF Edward Ti Quan (ty-quan) Forbes from Texas in exchange for RHP Miguel González. Forbes has appeared in 130 games between Class A Down East and Class A Hickory in 2017, batting.234 ( ) with 16 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 45 RBI this season. He originally was selected by Texas in the second round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Columbia (Miss.) High School. González was 7-10 with a 4.31 ERA (64 ER/133.2 IP) and 85 strikeouts over 22 starts this season, his second with the Sox. YESTERDAY'S RECAP Juan Minaya hit Max Kepler with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to force in the game-ending run as Minnesota completed a three-game sweep with a 5-4 win over Chicago. Alen Hanson snapped a 3-3 tie with a go-ahead, solo home run in the top of the ninth before Eddie Rosario's game-tying, RBI single and Kepler's walkoff hit-by-pitch. Miguel González received a no decision in his fi nal White Sox start (3 ER/6.0 IP) Minaya (L; BS; 2 ER/0.2 IP), suffered his fi rst blown save in four chances this season. Hanson matched his career high with three hits, and Avisaíl García (1-4) extended his hitting streak to eight games. The Sox went 3-13 with RISP and left nine runners on base. PITO POWER According to STATS LLC, José Abreu is the fi rst player in White Sox history to begin his major-league career with fourplus consecutive 25-homer seasons, and the 10th in majorleague history to accomplish the feat (see list at right). Abreu needs 22 RBI to become the third player in majorleague history to begin his career with four straight seasons of at least 25 homers and 100 RBI he would join Joe DiMaggio ( ) and Albert Pujols ( ). Abreu is on pace to record career highs in doubles (44), extra-base hits (81), total bases (341) and hits (191) the 81 extra-base hits and 341 total bases both would be the fourthhighest totals in franchise history. MLB WEARS GOLD Major League Baseball has designated 9/1 as "Childhood Cancer Awareness Day" across all ballparks. In partnership with Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), MLB and MLB Clubs will raise awareness for the fi ght against childhood cancer by having all Major League players, coaches, umpires and grounds crew members wear gold ribbon decals and wristbands. MAJOR MINOR DEVELOPMENTS RHP Michael Kopech, the No. 12 prosect in baseball according to MLB.com, is scheduled to make his fi nal start of the season tonight with Class AAA Charlotte vs. Norfolk. Kopech, who ranks seventh in the minors with 165 combined strikeouts, was named the Southern League Most Outstanding Pitcher for 2017 after going 8-7 with a 2.87 ERA (38 ER/119.1 IP) and 155 strikeouts in 22 starts with Class AA Birmingham. Class AA Birmingham OF Eloy Jiménez, the No. 7 prospect in baseball according to MLB.com, is hitting.368/.400/.614 with three homers and seven RBI in 15 games with the Barons. QUALITY AND QUANTITY The White Sox have made 18 quality starts in their last 32 games dating back to 7/29 by comparison, the Sox made 12 quality starts in 58 games from 5/22-7/28. Since 2003, the White Sox have recorded 1,301 quality starts, the second-most in the major leagues behind the Mets (1,303). LONGBALL LOGISTICS Chicago has hit 148 home runs and is on pace to fi nish with 182, which would mark its highest total since 2012 (211). Matt Davidson ranks second on the White Sox, and is tied for third among major-league rookies, with 23 home runs in He is tied with Josh Fields (2007) and Bill Melton (1969) for the fourth-highest total by a Sox rookie, trailing José Abreu (36, 2014), Ron Kittle (35, 1983) and Zeke Bonura (27, 1934). Matt Davidson (23), Tim Anderson (14), Leury García (nine) and Yolmer Sánchez (eight) all have set career highs in home runs, while Avisaíl García (13) has matched his career best. STRENGTH IN NUMBERS The White Sox possess the No. 1 farm system in baseball, according to the MLB.com updated rankings, including eight of the Top 100, tied with Atlanta for the most in baseball. Yoán Moncada is rated No. 1, followed by Eloy Jiménez (7), Michael Kopech (12), Luis Robert (26), Blake Rutherford (45) and Lucas Giolito (59), Dylan Cease (65) and Alec Hansen (100).
