RHP Lucas Giolito, who is 3-0 with a 3.32 ERA (7 ER/19.0 IP) over his last three starts, is scheduled to start for the White Sox. The Sox are coming off a 5-2 trip to Detroit (3-1) and New York-AL (2-1), which ended last night with a 4-1 victory against the Yankees. Following this four-game series, the Sox continue the homestand with three games each vs. Detroit (9/3-5) and the Angels (9/7-9), with an off day on 9/6. TONIGHT'S STORYLINES The White Sox have gone 11-4 since 8/14, tied with Tampa Bay for the best record in the major leagues. The Sox are since 8/2, moving from 9.0 games behind Detroit into a third-place tie with the Tigers in the AL Central. Chicago is 9-4 so far during a stretch of playing 20 straight days from 8/17-9/5, and 6-2 since José Abreu was placed on the disabled list on 8/22. The Sox rotation owns a 2.11 ERA (9 ER/38.1 IP) over the last six games, holding opponents to a.184 (25-136) average. Yolmer Sánchez has reached base safely in a career-high 17 consecutive games (.416 on-base percentage). LAST NIGHT'S RECAP Ryan LaMarre went 3-4 with two doubles, a home run and career-high four RBI, and Reynaldo López allowed one run over 7.0 IP as the White Sox posted a 4-1 victory in the deciding game of the series at Yankee Stadium. LaMarre hit a two-run double in the second inning, an RBI double in the fourth and a solo homer (No. 2 career) in the seventh to join Tommie Agee (6/5/66 vs. Washington) as the only Sox rookies since 1920 to drive in four-plus runs while accounting for all of the team's runs in a victory (source: STATS). López held the Yankees to one run over 7.0 IP for the second time this season for his fi rst victory since 7/1 at Texas. Xavier Cedeño (hold) and Jace Fry (save) each threw 1.0 scoreless IP to close out the Sox first series win at Yankee Stadium since 8/8-10/05 Sox pitchers held the Yankees to eight runs and a.183 (17-93) average (2-19 with RISP) in the series. SOX PAIR FOR WORTHY CAUSE White Sox Charities are holding a special online charity auction in honor of Jerry Remy, the former Red Sox second baseman and current broadcaster who is on medical leave after recently being diagnosed again with lung cancer. Fans may bid on items through this Sunday at 7:00 p.m. CT at whitesox.com/auction, including autographed memorabilia from Carlton Fisk, A.J. Pierzynski and Chris Sale, who all played for both the Red Sox and White Sox. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Jimmy Fund, an official charity of the Red Sox that raises funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research. LEGENDS OF THE FALL OFs Luis Basabe and Luis Robert, INF Laz Rivera, RHPs Zack Burdi and Zach Thompson and LHP Tanner Banks will play for the Glendale Desert Dogs in the 2018 Arizona Fall League. Robert is the No. 25 prospect in baseball per MLB Pipeline, and Basabe is rated as the No. 9 prospect in the organization. Burdi, who has been recovering from Tommy John surgery, was one of the two White Sox fi rst-round picks in the 2016 draft. HISTORICALLY TOUGH STRETCH The White Sox are playing consecutive series at New York-AL (.632) vs. Boston (.687), the best two teams in the major leagues. This marks the fi rst time since 1939 that the Sox have played back-to-back series against teams who entered the matchup having played at least 50 games with winning percentages of.630 or better (STATS). In that instance, the White Sox suffered a three-game sweep at home to the Yankees (8/22-23/39) before sweeping a threegame series from the Red Sox at Comiskey Park (8/24-26/39). CELEBRATING HAWK The White Sox celebrate the life and career of Ken Hawk Harrelson during a special pregame ceremony on Hawk Day on 9/2 the fi rst 10,000 fans who enter the ballpark will receive a Hawk Harrelson Nesting Doll, which features Hawk as a player, front office executive and broadcaster. Harrelson, who is in his 33rd and fi nal season in the White Sox TV booth, will fi ll in for Jason Benetti tomorrow and will work Sunday's game alongside former Sox great A.J. Pierzynski. WHITE SOX VS. BOSTON The White Sox lead the season series, 2-1, after winning two of three games at Fenway Park from 6/8-10. The Sox are batting.204/.278/.276 with a 1.04 ERA (3 ER/26.0 IP) and have outscored the Red Sox, 8-6 Boston went 1-26 (.039) with RISP in the series at Fenway Park. Chicago trails in the all-time series, , going at home (54-59 at Guaranteed Rate Field) and on the road ( at Fenway Park). LOOKING FOR AN EDGE VS. THE EAST The White Sox are vs. the American League East since 2007, with their only winning record during that span coming in 2016 (19-14). The Sox are vs. the AL East this season (4-9 at home) and have won 11 of their last 21 games after a 1-4 start. REVOLVING CLOSING DOOR A White Sox franchise-record nine different pitchers have recorded at least one save this season, breaking the mark of eight set five times (last 1988) STATS LLC. Joakim Soria leads the Sox with 16 saves, followed by Jace Fry and Nate Jones (four each), Luis Avilán (two), and Chris Beck, Xavier Cedeño, Bruce Rondón, Héctor Santiago and Thyago Vieira (one each). Of those nine pitchers, only four currently are on the active roster, and Santiago is the only one who has been with the club all season. YOUNG GUNS Lucas Giolito (24), Michael Kopech (22), Reynaldo López (24) and Carlos Rodón (25) make up four-fi fths of the White Sox starting rotation. Giolito leads the staff with 10 victories and is 3-0 with a 3.32 ERA (7 ER/19.0 IP) over his last three starts. Kopech has become the only major-league pitcher since 1908 to allow one or no runs and no walks in each of his first two career starts (source: Baseball Reference). López is 1-0 with a 2.13 ERA (3 ER/12.2 IP) over his last two starts and has combined to go 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA (3 ER/20.1 IP) in three starts this season against Boston and the Yankees. Rodón has made nine straight quality starts while allowing fi ve hits or less, the longest such streak by a Sox pitcher since at least 1908 (Baseball Reference). POWER AND SPEED Tim Anderson (17 HR/25 SB) is one of five players in the major leagues with at least 15 home runs and 25 stolen bases, joining Mookie Betts, Starling Marte, José Ramírez and Trea Turner. Anderson is attempting to become the first White Sox shortstop to record a 20-HR/20-SB season and could join Alex Ríos (2010) and Tommie Agee (1966) as the only players in franchise history to post 20 homers and 30 steals in one season. AND IMPROVED GLOVEWORK SS Tim Anderson has played 17 consecutive errorless games and owns a.984 fi elding percentage (4 E/248 TC) over his last 68 games since 6/10, the fifth-best mark in the American League. By comparison, Anderson posted a.957 (53 E/1,247 TC) fi elding percentage over his fi rst 302 career games at shortstop from 6/10/16-6/9/18. ON THE FARM Class AAA Charlotte OF Eloy Jiménez, the No. 3 Prospect in baseball per MLB Pipeline, is (.500) over his last nine games and is hitting.385/.412/.641 (60-156) average with nine homers, 28 RBI and a OPS in 39 games after the break.
