3 Meet the Head Coach Janice DiNobile Janice DiNobile begins her first season as the head softball coach at Rhode Island College. I want my players to take their talent and competitiveness to the next level, said DiNobile. Everything must come together on game days. Talent may win games, but teams win championships. Ultimately, I want these women to achieve something special." DiNobile joins the Anchorwomen after serving as the head varsity softball coach at North Providence High School for nine seasons. In her most recent season at the helm of the program, DiNobile led the Cougars to the 2013 Division II Championship and to a 21-1 record overall, the best mark of her tenure. She was named the 2013 East/West Division Coach of the Year, while her squad garnered the 2013 Team Sportsmanship Award. The 2013 campaign marked the fourth straight trip to the postseason for North Providence. In addition to her coaching duties at N.P.H.S., she worked as a private softball instructor for the Upper Deck Baseball Academy in Cumberland from , while also serving as the head basketball coach at Ricci Middle School in North Providence for the past decade. Prior to her coaching career, DiNobile starred in softball for St. Joseph s College in Standish, Maine. She was a standout third baseman for the Monks from and captained the squad during her final three seasons. DiNobile earned 1999 Maine Athletic Conference McDonald s Player of the Year honors and earned NAIA Academic All-American honors that same season. During her career, she was named to both the All-Maine Athletic Conference Team and to the Maine All- State Intercollegiate Softball Team from She graduated from St. Joseph s in 2001 with a bachelor s degree in physical education and earned her health certification from Rhode Island College in DiNobile has taught physical education and health education in the North Providence School Department since After spending her first five years at McGuire Elementary School, she has worked at North Providence High School since She currently resides in North Providence. 3

4 Meet the Assistant Coaches Assistant Coach Erin Bellucci Erin Bellucci begins her second year as the assistant softball coach. She assists Head Coach Janice DiNobile with all facets of the RIC softball program including recruiting, scouting, administering practice and game coaching. Having the ability to work as the assistant coach for the RIC softball team this year is a great honor, said Bellucci. I have seen this program grow throughout the years and know of its dominating history. I look forward to working with this very talented group of ladies." Bellucci, who played four seasons for regional power Keene State before graduating in 2007, went in the circle with a 1.78 earned run average and earned All-Little East Conference honors as a junior and senior. While also appearing in the outfield, Bellucci pushed the Owls to a record in her career with NCAA Tournament appearances during her sophomore and senior seasons. She served as a captain as a senior. Bellucci most recently worked as an assistant softball coach at Wheaton College from 2009 to She worked primarily with pitchers and catchers during the season, while leading the pitching instruction during the program s Winter Clinics. The former Keene State standout has been a pitching and hitting instructor at Uxbridge-based Planet Fastpitch since early 2008, while giving lessons at Extra Innings in her hometown of Warwick since The former hurler was an assistant coach at her alma mater in fall 2007, instructed at winter clinics at Keene State from and worked camps at the University of Massachusetts for three years. She previously provided pitching lessons at Extra Innings in Walpole, New Hampshire, and worked youth basketball clinics for six summers at Bishop Hendricken High School in her hometown. A three-year member of the Keene State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Bellucci earned a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-America honor in During the summers of 2006 and 2007, Bellucci competed for USA Athletes International for softball series in Peru and Holland, respectively. The cum laude graduate earned a general science degree from Keene State with a certification in secondary education and has been a teacher at Wamsutta Middle School in Attleboro since She is currently enrolled in the School Counseling Master s Program at Rhode Island College. 4

5 Meet the Assistant Coaches Assistant Coach Marissa Mercier Marissa Mercier begins her first season as an assistant softball coach at Rhode Island College. She assists Head Coach Janice DiNobile with all phases of the RIC softball program. Her responsibilities include recruiting, scouting, administering practice, and game coaching. Mercier played four seasons of softball at Div. III Rivier University of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and is one of the most decorated players in program history. A twotime First Team All-GNAC catcher, she closed out her career as Rivier s all-time leader in games played (154), doubles (43), home runs (27), RBI (120), total bases (293), walks (76), batting average (.376), on-base percentage (.471), and slugging percentage (.645). As a freshman in 2010, she helped her squad to the program s second-ever GNAC Championship and the second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance as well. Meanwhile, as a junior in 2012, Mercier hit. 458 and posted a remarkable.858 slugging percentage to go along with career-highs of 18 doubles, 10 home runs, 39 RBI, 103 total bases, and 38 runs scored. As a senior in 2013, she captained the Raiders for the second-straight season and was the recipient of the Sister Marjorie Franceour Award, given to a player shows great leadership, selflessness, and great dedication to both school and softball. Mercier has worked at PM Colors Inc. in Johnston since 2006 and also serves as a hitting and catching instructor at Serious Softball in Smithfield. She was recently on the softball team staff at her alma mater in the summer of 2013, with a focus on recruiting. Prior to that, Mercier was an assistant softball coach at North Smithfield High School from 2011 to Mercier received her bachelor s degree in criminal justice at River University and currently resides in North Smithfield. 5
