3 Franchise Timeline September 18, 2012 The El Paso City Council approves construction of a new downtown ballpark by a vote of 4-3, to be built on the site of the old city hall. September 26, 2012 MountainStar Sports Group moves forward with the purchase of the Tucson Padres, the San Diego Padres Triple-A Affiliate. November 28, 2012 Populous is named the architecture firm to design the new downtown ballpark. Populous is the same firm that designed Petco Park in San Diego as well as many other major league and minor league stadiums. May 17, 2013 Brad Taylor is named General Manager of the new team in El Paso. He comes to El Paso from Bowling Green, Kentucky where he was President and General Manager of the Bowling Green Hot Rods, the Single-A Affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. Taylor brings with him 19 years of experience in professional baseball. May 30, 2013 Hundreds of spectators gather downtown to witness the groundbreaking of the new ballpark. State and city officials, executives from the San Diego Padres and the Pacific Coast League are on hand for the event, including Pat O Conner, president of Minor League Baseball. October 22, 2013 After receiving thousands of suggestions from El Pasoans, MountainStar Sports Group announces that the team will be named the El Paso Chihuahuas. December 3, 2013 Pat Murphy is named the first manager in El Paso Chihuahuas history. Murphy has worked in the San Diego Padres organization for five years, with the past two years as manager of the Triple-A Affiliate. February 5, 2014 The El Paso Chihuahuas unveil uniforms that include five jersey variations: white, gray, black, red and pinstripes. March 5, 2014 The El Paso Chihuahuas announce that the name of the new downtown ballpark will be Southwest University Park. 2

4 Franchise Timeline March 15, 2014 Individual tickets go on sale. Opening Night sells out in one hour. April 14, 2014 The El Paso Chihuahuas unveil Chico, the new mascot, with a silent appearance on flagship radio station Team 600 ESPN El Paso. April 28, 2014 The Chihuahuas play their first home game in Southwest University Park in front of a crowd of 9,245. They split the first homestand. July 3, 2014 The Chihuahuas play in front of a crowd of 10,135, the largest of the inaugural season. July 13, 2014 The El Paso Chihuahuas set a new single-season attendance record for Minor League Baseball in El Paso: 334,233. The previous record of 329,233 was set by the El Paso Diablos at Cohen Stadium in July 16, 2014 Bark in the Park jersey is unveiled. It goes viral nationally with mentions on USA Today, ESPN, CBS Sports, Fox Sports, BuzzFeed, etc. It nationally trends on Twitter, Facebook, and Yahoo! Sports. SportsCenter anchors and Keith Olbermann wear jerseys on national television. July 31, 2014 The Chihuahuas save a life after adopting a chihuahua that was scheduled to be euthanized. They launch Name the Dog contest to help raise money for the Humane Society of El Paso. Lola is the name chosen. August 6, 2014 Southwest University Park is named Baseballparks.com s Ballpark of the Year. The honor is given annually to a new or remodeled baseball stadium with the best combination of aesthetics, architectural design, attractive site selection, and fan amenitites. August 19, 2014 Season attendance surpases 500,000 and ranks No. 1 among all of MiLB with 110,000 likes on Facebook. June 16, 2015 Pat Murphy becomes San Diego s interim manager after the Padres fired longtime manager Bud Black. June 17, 2015 Jamie Quirk is named the second manager in Chihuahuas history, coming to El Paso from Double-A San Antonio. 3

5 Franchise Timeline July 3, 2015 The Chihuahuas set a new single-game attendance record of 10,169 to surpass the old record achieved exactly one year earlier. September 6, 2015 The Chihuahuas clinch their first playoff spot with a win in Reno coupled with a Las Vegas loss to Tacoma. El Paso lost in the divisional round to eventual league champion Fresno. September 22, 2015 Southwest University Park hosts the Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game between the champions of the Pacific Coast League and the International League. The PCL s Fresno Grizzlies (Houston Astros affiliate) shut out the IL s Columbus Clippers (Cleveland Indians affiliate) 7-0 with the help of early offense and seven superb innings from Chris Devenski, one of the Astros top pitching prospects. January 14, 2016 Longtime Major League catcher Rod Barajas is named the third manager in Chihuahuas history. 4
