BROOMS The Cakes were swept for the first time since their final road series of the 2016 season in Colorado Springs. It was the fourth time New Orleans has been swept at Dell Diamond, including a four-game series to end the 2012 campaign when NOLA was the designated home team. SI SI SIERRA Moises Sierra has recorded a hit in 21 of his last 25 starts, batting.359 (33x92) in those contests. Since June 2, Sierra is hitting.333 (50x150), and his nine steals in that span are tied for fifth-most in the league. With 10 home runs and 14 stolen bases, Sierra was the first NOLA player to reach double-digits in both categories by the All-Star break since 2004, when Chris Burke had 10 homers and 22 steals. TOMAS THE TRAIN In 37 games dating to May 23, Tomas Telis owns a.362 batting average (50x138), ranking ninth in the PCL in that span to go with eight doubles, two triples, two home runs and 18 RBI. Telis has registered a hit in 21 of 25 contests since returning from a stint with the Marlins. FAST START Brian Anderson has a hit in five of his first six career Triple-A games, going 7x20 (.350) with two home runs and six RBI. Anderson s 16 total home runs this season places him one ahead of former Jacksonville teammate John Norwood for tops among Marlins farmhands. He also leads the organizastion with 61 RBI, 20 of which have come in his last 18 games. DIVISION WOES New Orleans has gone 9-25 against division rivals, the fewest victories in the PCL. Their.265 divisional winning percentage would rank ahead of only the 1999 club, which went (.250). NOLA s record within the division was the best among American South clubs last year. BARNYARD Brandon Barnes became the fourth Cakes player to steal two bases in a game, pushing his season total to a team-leading 15. Barnes also leads the club with 43 runs scored and is tied with Tomas Telis for second with 25 multi-hit games.
