Our school has some very exciting events occurring during term 2. The newsletter is put on the website each Thursday afternoon. If you wish to be notified when the newsletter is available simply go to the above web address and click on the subscribe to the newsletter on the front page once approved by the office you will receive an with a link direct to the newsletter each Thursday afternoon. Newsletters will be available from the office for parents who do not have access to the internet.. ANZAC DAY 25 TH APRIL 2013 An open invitation is extended to Tootgarook PS parents, teachers and pupils to attend the Rye RSL Anzac Day Memorial Service commencing about 12.15pm. Our School Captains will represent the school by laying a school wreath during the Memorial Service. The Official Memorial Service runs for approximately minutes. The Anzac Day public holiday will be Thursday 25 th April.

2 Student of the Week Students will be presented with certificates at Monday morning assembly. Families should have received a school photo envelope for you to fill in and return to school on Photo Day. This year, photos will be taken on Wednesday 24 th April from 9.00am. Children need to be punctual as they may miss their class photo and dressed in full school uniform. Please ensure the correct amount (if paying cash) is enclosed as the school office are unable to give change and do not handle school photos envelopes they go direct to the photographer. If you would like a family sibling portrait please see the office for an envelope. Please remember that photo money must accompany students on the day otherwise the photo company will charge extra if you order after the day. =============================== Breakfast Club began this morning with approximately 50 children enjoying cereal, toast and juice. Breakfast Club will run twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8.15am. All children are welcome to come along. A HUGE thankyou to the parents who assisted Mr King in making sure the children were well fed. Breakfast is the main meal of the day and it is important for children s concentration to start the day with a full tummy. Thankyou also to the local community groups who have donated the resources for this program to happen. If anyone has an UPRIGHT FREEZER that they could donate it would be greatly appreciated. Prep B Mrs Bos Daizy Grinter for being a good learner and always actively involved in her learning. Prep P Mrs Prossor Mikayla Bailey for her enthusiastic start to Term Two especially when practising her words. 1/2B Mrs Baird Talicia Verrall for her interest in learning and her friendly behaviour. 1/2H Mrs Hughes Sophie Papadopoulos for her great work ethic, friendly nature and happy, vibrant personality. 1/2P Miss Perkins Maddison Little for her interest and enthusiasm shown in garden club. She has been great in remembering to wear and look after her new glasses. 3/4T Miss Withers Sophie Lazner for her fantastic effort she put into her Mornington Peninsula Pamphlet. Keep up the great work Sophie. 3/W Mrs Ward Daniel McKenzie_ for patience and tolerance. He has been thinking before he acts and gets lots of work done when he thinks first. Well done! 5/6B Mrs Clements WOW- Zoe Samas, you were an absolute terrier on the court, such an enthusiastic participant on our lightning premiership day..a real team player! Congratulations, a worthy recipient of student of the week in 5/6 B. 5/6Q Miss Quintin Caine Brill - You're enthusiasm playing cricket at the Summer Lightning Prem on Wednesday kept the team alive. You cheered on your team mates and clearly demonstrated why you deserved to be fielding 'your area'. Well done Caine, you're a breath of fresh air! Art/Craft (Ms Lee / Mrs Campbell) Bailey German 3/4T for his wonderful drawing skills. Bernie Walsh Art Award - 3/4W for their hard working efforts whilst drawing their portraits. Music (Mrs Young) Sarah Wallace 3/4T you have tried out a few times and now you are able to play Advance Australia Fair really well. Welcome to the Band. Well done!!! PE/Sport (Mr King) Harry Taralaikov-Drewett for being very brave at PE. WANTED for sick bay school dresses black shorts and polo tops any sizes any donations will be gratefully received. 3 The photography class entered photos into the Red Hill show. Natasha Jones won first and second place, Chloe Sharrock won second place, Jake Bradford won third and second place, Ricky McLeod won first place. We all had a great time taking lots of photos and a big thank-you to MRS CAMPBELL!! By Chloe Sharrock and Natasha Jones JUNIOR SCHOOL COUNCIL NUDE FOOD DAY IS EVERY TUESDAY STARTING THIS TERM - TO HELP REDUCE RUBBISH IN OUR SCHOOL. EACH TUESDAY YOU NEED TO PACK A LUNCH THAT HAS NO PACKAGING. Some Tips!!!!! Pack some fruit for lunch. It comes in its own packaging!! Use a reusable drink container rather than a prima. Use a reusable container rather than glad wrap for your sandwiches. Pack healthy snacks like yoghurt in a small reusable container. Use a lunch box rather than a plastic or paper bag. 4 Tootgarook girls and boys basketball teams Girls A team played 5 games, won 3 games and lost 2 games. They went to the semi finals but unfortunately they lost. Zoe s mum Kate and her partner Steve took the Prep s old dolls house home and gave it a make over during the holidays. It looks fantastic - a huge thanks to Kate, Steve and Zoe who also helped. ========================== Tootgarook Cricket Team On Wednesday the 17 th of April, 12 grade 5/6 s went to Truemans Road to play cricket. Girls B team played 4 games won 2 but lost 2, sadly they didn t go into the finals. The team consisted of Sebastian Melo, Liam Blade, Jackson Burrowes, Kieren Beagley, Quin Lingua, Robbie Holbery, Billy-Jean Sherman, Zack Lizio, Caine and Justin Brill, and myself Jack Thomson. We played really well and everyone enjoyed themselves. We won a game against Red Hill, however only just lost the other two games. We qualified for the final and played St Joseph s, they were a tough team to beat, but we were pretty close in the end. A big thanks you to Stephen Lizio and my Mum and Dad (Donna and Andrew Thomson) for coming along to support us, even giving some helpful hints along the way. Jack Thomson Boys team played 6 games and won 4 and had lost 2. They played in the semi finals but lost. Tootgarook displayed great sportsmanship. A special thanks to Warren Peterson, Mick Prentice and Theresa Rainsbury for coaching the teams. Thank you for all the support you gave us. We had lots of fun! Chloe and Olivia

Tootgarook Primary School is again participating in the WHAT CAN MY SCHOOL WIN? This year there are CASH PRIZES to win at Rosebud Plaza Shopping Centre. 1st prize $2,000 2nd Prize $1,000 3rd Prize $ 500 4th Prize $ 500 HOW DO CUSTOMERS PARTICIPATE? From 15th April to 26th May 2013, customers simply present shopping receipts to Centre Management or drop box in centre located near the BLUE ENTRY (Coles) or GREEN ENTRY (Food Court) at Rosebud Plaza Shopping Centre. Customers are awarded kilometres for dollars spent at participating stores in centre. The customer nominates the name of the school that they want to receive their kilometres. They continue to redeem their receipts for kilometres throughout the promotional period and the school that runs around Australia the furthest wins a cash prize Please place your Earn and Learn stickers in the box provided in our school foyer.
