2 2 Trail Boss s Report Yetta Hey Princesses and Dads, Our annual recruiting turned out to be successful. We now have 6 new Outpost in the new Forest Territory. I want to welcome all the new dads and daughters. Enjoy your next 4 years and have as much fun as you can. What a great day we had for the car rally!!!! The weather was perfect. It was nice to see all the new dads and daughters and their families having fun at their first event. The giant inflatables were a big hit as always and the field games were something new which added even more excitement to the day. Good job to everyone who helped put that event together. By the time you get this letter everyone s annual dues should have been paid. If not make sure you get your dues turned in to Jim Zito or Paul Mathis. Our annual fundraising is in full swing. The money we make from selling raffle tickets funds our organization for the year. The more we sell the bigger the budget will be for this upcoming year. This means we will be able to run great events at the lowest cost to you as possible. The Mardi Gras party puts the finishing touch on the fundraising. This is a chance for all the moms, dads and friends to get together and enjoy an evening out filled with fun. Music, dancing, games, food, sideboards and the spirit of Mardi Gras. We have a lot of events coming up. Strongsville Overnighter, Christmas party, Christmas parade and Induction Ceremony. Keep reading your Running Waters so you don t miss out on any of the fun. See you at the next event. Friends Always, Russ and Jessica Lakatos 2008 Trail Boss 2

8 8 Forest Territory A Note from the Forest Territory Scout: November 2008 Yetta Hey and hello to all the members of the Forest Territory. Well our last campout is quickly approaching (or has come and gone depending on how slow your mail service is). I m sure our Trailboss and Firemaker have an excellent campout and campfire planned. Even though our campouts are done, there are still plenty of events on the calendar to enjoy before we wrap things up at the Induction Ceremony in January. Take advantage of these final events (Overnighter, Fluff Raid, Christmas Parade, Christmas Party) and enjoy some special time with your daughter and your family. It s been a great four years (or longer). Remember, you can keep the fun and special times going in Sr. Princesses!! As always, if you have any questions, concerns or need any information, please don t hesitate to call or me. Sam_santabarbara@hotmail.com or Sam and Jennifer Santabarbara The Mighty Ducks - The Mighty Ducks met at the Mighty Oxborough house. The girls swam in the heated pool and the dads made preliminary Ghost March plans. We are planning on building upon our Pirates of The Carribean theme from last year and have added the Shhoting Stars to our band of pirates for this event. We Are The Mighty Ducks... A Quack Above The Rest. The Grizzly Bears The Grizzly Bears had a great time at the Car Rally. Breanna Gentile and Nikki Johnson enjoyed cruising the car rally in Mrs. Gentile s hot new convertible. The weather was awesome and so was the Car Rally. The Grizzly Bears also got together to work on their final Ghost March Skit. The skit will be both scary and fun for the newer Adventure Princess Girls. While we are sad to see our time in the Adventure Princesses nearing an end, we are looking forward to having some great fun at the final events of the year. The Mighty Purple Panthers just had a great meeting at Kaylee and Ryan Short's house. The girls had a great time playing and roasting marshmallows on the fire. If you have any gently worn jackets that no longer fit, or that you do not have a use for please consider donating them to this worthy cause. There will be a collection box at the Overnighter for kids or adult sized jackets, and with your help we can make the winter season a little easier for the less fortunate in our area. What costs so little can mean so much to someone in need, and an organization like ours can make a difference for so many. So please remember to bring along any unneeded jackets with you in November to the Overnighter. 18

20 20 A Not So Scary Story, or is it? To help us all get in the mood for the Fall campout at Camp Cheerful, we thought we might tell you a story that was told to us by some fourth year girls last year. Not sure how true it is, but it does make us wonder Too Many Officers Donna, Stacy and their dads were sharing a ride to Camp Cheerful. As they turned off the main road Donna noted. Look at that Officer dressed as a gorilla. What is he doing by the Camp Cheerful sign? Stacy looked and said He s changing it to Camp Fearful. How funny! A gorilla wearing an Officer s t-shirt and trying to scare us fourth years! As if! Oh, how scary said Donna Later at the dance, Donna and a few more girls from their outpost ran up to Stacy. Hey Stacy, have you noticed that all of the officers are wearing vampire outfits without their t-shirts? Well, not the Assistant Trail Boss of course. He just looks sooo cute. Stacy thought a moment and said Hmm. Maybe one of them changed outfits just to try to scare us. No big deal. Donna did not have a chance to respond because their outpost was called to get their picture taken and go on the Ghost March. None of them noticed that they were the last outpost to be called. Donna, Stacy and the rest of the girls started marching. The first few stops were more funny than scary. Of course there were a few gross parts like needing to stick their hands into, well something, to get a token to pass safely through the bone yard. What none of them noticed was that as they left each stop (after getting their candy of course) two or three gorillas wearing Officer t-shirts (which of course no Officer would ever allow anyone else to wear) silently joined their outpost as they marched. By the time they were walking on the path to the final stop by the bridge, the girls were being followed by twenty some odd t-shirt wearing gorillas. As the girls were walking up to the last bridge which had been turned into a really gross tunnel with glowing words about danger and bridge out Stacy turned around a shrieked Donna! What are all of those gorillas doing back there? All of the girls turned around and there were the gorillas, just standing there watching. Donna yelled Ok, you Officers are just sooo scary. Come on girls. We need to finish here and get back to camp. With that the girls went through the tunnel. Stacy, Donna and the other girls were walking past the horse barn when the pack of gorillas ran up to them and with strange monkey sounds seemed to be saying that there was one more stop in the horse barn. There had never been a stop there before, but maybe it was something special for fourth years. To say the least, the girls spent the next fifteen minutes running around the strangely decorated barn trying to get away from the gorillas. The girls finally managed to escape and run for the cafeteria. They entered the room laughing. Standing there waiting for them were all of the offices dressed as vampires (except the Assistant Trail Boss of course.) The Trail Boss asked them Where have you been? The dads at the bridge said you left a while ago. We were just about to go looking for you. What took you so long? The girls told them their story and when they went back to horse barn the horses were there. The only thing strange was a gorilla mask on the shelf by the helmets. 30 30 To All Princess Dads, Consider Being An Officer for 2009!!!!!! Please consider being an officer for Nominations have just begun and most of the positions are open for 2009, meaning that dads in good standing with the organization can run for election (or audition in the case of the Storyteller position).
