The Convention was entertaining, informative and educational. There were classes and workshops on a variety of topics. Past Junior Worthy President Gail Beaudoin and I took advantage of as many classes as we could. Compliance was noted to be a strong issue at this convention. The speakers were varied. Most notably Dr. Able from the F.O.E. Diabetic Research Center gave an update of the research that is going on at the center and the world wide system of exchanging the information has given our center international claim. Dr. Abel has received international recognition and awards for his work. We are proud to see him soar. An extension to the research program is A Bridge for the Cure. This program is to raise the funds to develop the drugs for clinical trial to bring them to the people. The cost is enormous but it is the final stage of bringing a cure to this disease. Florida did a great job in giving to our Grand Aerie Charities. Every penny given to these charities are returned in to us in grants. The Grand Worthy President and The Grand Madam President have chosen Breast Cancer for their charity. The Grand Madam President Althea Lane chose the City of Hope and the Grand Worthy President Carl Burnett chose Metavivor Research for Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Research and Support. Members we need your support in developing activities and volunteering in our aerie. In closing I leave you with our Grand Aerie President's motto, It's not about me It's about the F.O.E. We had a lot of people who gave monetary donations. The month of August I hope will be as successful as we are doing our annual LABOR OF LOVE for the West Pasco Pregnancy Center. The month of August all of our 50/50 will be donated to The Florida State Disaster Relief Fund THANK YOU ALL!! We encourage our members to show their support. Everyone is invited and you will have a great time. We now have 22 members signed up for 2018.We re always looking for new members, remember you do not have to have a motorcycle to be a member. Dues are $12 per year. We always have a great time going to different places. Every 3rd Sat we have a Motorcycle race and food, thanks go out to all who make this possible. We now have Eagle Rider shirts for sale prices are marked and are located in the display case. The Eagle Riders are having a banner made for Hudson High School base/football field and will be giving a donation to them for sporting teams uniforms. On Sept. 22 from 12 noon til 9pm Aerie 4208, Eagle Riders and other members will be doing a Fundraiser for Jim Kristensen s daughter who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma. There will be 2 bands, raffle baskets, 50/50, Wheel Barrow full of liquor, and food. The Eagle Riders decided to have breakfast the first Saturday of each month before our regular meeting at Frank s Diner on the west side of 19. It will start at 9am and everyone is welcome to attend. This is a great way to meet the riders, have communications and enjoy everyone s company. Come out and enjoy the fun. July 4th was supported by the Eagle Riders. We are always looking for suggestions as to where you want to ride after the meeting and during the month. I look forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting on August 4th at 10am. Meetings are the first Saturday of each month at 10am Fraternally, Andrew MO Marshal ************************************************* Note from Aerie Secretary Tom Brothers, The summer doldrums are here to stay! Looks like another record hot summer here in central Florida. Hurricane season is upon us and in that regard, please watch the Aerie calendar for activities to raise money for the Florida Disaster Relief Fund. This fund is used to help people who suffer damage from violent weather. We will probably have a fund raising event within the next few months. A secretary school will be held on 11 Aug in Kissimmee hosted by Robert Davidson the State Education Chairman. The cost is $25 per person. There are low cost hotel rooms also available. Contact me if you are interested in attending. The Southeast Regional Conference will take place on Sept 28, 29 and 30 in Kissimmee; there are application on the meeting room bulletin board. We continue to welcome new brothers. This past month we have five new members and two transfers and two re-enrollments. Our aerie continues to grow.
