1 NEWS AROUND BCHS March 23, 2018 Thought for the day. BCHS Mission Statement Bracken County High School will prepare all students to be productive and contributing members of a 21 st century global community.

3 SPORTING NEWS Softball schedule and Baseball Schedules are in the newsletter. What are our Coaches saying? Coach Brausch (football) Any young man who wants to play football next year that is not playing basketball right now see Coach. Weight lifting has started. If you are interested please check with the coach. Coach Cummins (baseball) Baseball team is practicing. See schedules in newsletter. Coach Riley (softball) Softball team is practicing. See schedules in newsletter. Coach Litzinger (golf) There are several of the golf team that Have NOT turned in their tennis shirts. It is very important that these be turned in immediately. The school paid for the shirts, not the students, therefore they are property of the school. You can bring them into the office. Coach Cannon (tennis) Tennis season has started. See schedule in newsletter. Coach Hunt (track) Track is running daily and their schedule is also posted in the newsletter

5 NOTICE SCHOOL CALENDAR HAS A CHANGE There has been a change to our school calendar. On Friday, March 30 th we are off school. This is an extra day. The next week is our Spring Break. 9 FFA Greenhand Ceremony BCHS FFA held its Greenhand Ceremony tonight the at extension office. The Greenhand Ceremony is the ceremony for the first degree in FFA. First year members meet the requirements to achieve the degree by memorizing the FFA creed, motto, mission statement and history of the FFA. Congratulations to the newest FFA members!

11 Info for you to know Students are only to ride buses to Taylor if you are riding a bus home or going to a school event at the middle school or Taylor. You are not permitted to ride to Taylor then walk to town. If a student wants to take their permit to drive,they must come to the office and get a permit paper that must be signed by the guardian/parent and a school administrator. Please do by Wednesday if you are going on a Friday. Bad grades and poor attendance can keep this from happening. Important fact: All sport participates need a physical. This includes football, volleyball, tennis, track, golf, archery, cross-country, girl s basketball,boy s basketball and cheerleading. KHSAA physicals are required and can be picked up in the office before you go to the doctor. Parents you can check on your student s grades by logging in and looking at the Parent Portal on Infinite Campus. If you are interested contact Ext. 46 Every Student must pay $20 dues per school year. These dues are used for prom decorating, prom attendance and activities, senior expenses, and other expenses that arise.

25 Parents.does your child need help???? Tutoring BCHS will offer tutoring to students. Students need to check with their teachers to see who is staying on what days. This is a great way for Students to stay on track. Please see Mrs. Fisher if you cannot find out.

38 Honesty Duncan was nominated by Mr. Chad White. Mr. White said that Honesty has worked extremely hard through the snow days and complicated problems to persevere. Honesty has helped other students to try and ensure student success. She has worked above and beyond to earn higher grades and understanding.
39 Allison Fryman was nominated by Mrs. Amity Kelsch. Allison is very respectful to her teachers and her classmates. She is a hard worker in class and puts forth 110% on her assignments. Although very quiet, Allison helps her fellow peers out when needed.
40 Ashton Holton was nominated by Mr. Chris Yelton. Ashton is a great students and shows a lot of interest in creating art. His talent and attention to detail is obvious in the work he does. Ashton is a pleasure to have in class and always works diligently on is art.
41 New Immunization Requirements The Bracken County Health Deparment wants everyone to know the new immunization requirements effective for the school year beginnin on or after July 1, * 2-dose series of Hep A for all children 12 months through 18 years. * Meningococcal vaccine booster fose for students 16 years and older. 43 TREY DEATON SIGNS TO PLAY FOOTBALL AT UNION COLLEGE. Coach David Brausch is congratulating his Senior player, Trey Deaton, on signing at Union College. Trey played wide receiver and safety for the Polar Bears. His parents, Stanley and Tina Deaton are also pictured. BCHS would like to wish Trey the best of luck.
44 Help support the Bracken County 4-H Teen Council s community service project by providing the following items to give to the Women s Crisis Center in Maysville: Pillows Blankets Towels Hygiene Products Canned Goods Baby Products Items may be dropped off in donation boxes located at any of the Bracken County Schools and the Bracken County Extension Office.
