Newsletter May, 2017 Message from the President Dear Seville Pony Club Members, What a busy month it s been! It s been great to see members out and about last month. Last rally was quite a small one and it was great to hear everybody pitching in to help and I do hope that everyone that attended had a great time. Congratulations to our Gr 1&2 State Riders who competed at PCAV Park at Gladysdale on 6 & 7 May. You all did your club proud placing 2nd! It was so lovely to see you all supporting each other in a team environment. You re all inspirational! The Interzone Horse Trials (Gr3&4 Riders) was also the same weekend and well represented yet again. The North Metro Zone took the Shield again this year. Well done to all that rode! New friendships were made riding with members from other clubs within our very active North Metro Zone. A couple of reminders; The Annual General Meeting will be held over lunchtime at this week s rally and I trust you all received information regarding nomination for committee and non-committee positions. Whilst I have had some expressions of interest there are still some positions that will need to be filled. Please read the sent on the 6 th of April from Seville Pony Club<no-reply@omnisportsmanagement.com>. Please do consider what you could contribute to our club. It is a great way to be involved in your kids activities. There are lots of roles that can be filled by more than one person to enable sharing! It is also great role modelling for our kids as we are all volunteers facilitating their sport. Please contact me or any other committee members if you would like to be part of the 2017/2018 Team! 2 Message from the President cont d You may have already received an from PCAV - advertising advertising@ponyclubvic.org.au today asking you to renew your Club Affiliation with Pony Club Victoria. It is quite simple and easy to do. If you have any questions regarding Club affiliation or Membership Renewal please call either Vicki or Suanne at the PCAV State Office on Tanya Walker, the SPC Treasurer will be sending out Invoices this week and documents that need to be completed and returned by either hard copy or to renew your membership for the 2017/2018. If you are not renewing your 2017/2018 membership, please let Tanya know ASAP. You may have already read on Facebook that Working With Children s Card is compulsory for every members Representative/Guardian or Adult Supporter. This is a NEW Government requirement for all sporting clubs which is part of your membership requirements. Please ensure this is submitted with your Membership Renewal Forms. There will be spot checks amongst sporting clubs and fines imposed to clubs if this is not in order. Please contact any of the committee if you need any help. Don t forget our Presentation Night on Saturday 3 June. It was well received last year and such a lovely way to acknowledge members this year in a relaxed environment. We will also be welcoming new committee members! Payment is required by 28 May and please Trish Kroeger at bodyalanz@bigpond.com your payment receipt and form attached detailing seating / dietary requirements. Look forward to seeing you all there! Our DC Anna Baker and Rally Planner - Amanda Wilson have another bumper rally planned so please let them know by Friday 19 May if you are attending so we can best accommodate you all! Marie Lyons will be preparing lots of yummy food for the canteen to keep us all energised! So looking forward to seeing you on May 28. Stay warm! Lisa Tyrrell, President, Seville Pony Club Seville Pony Club A G M Annual General Meeting Sunday May 28, pm sharp Keep making this club great. 2
DC News As always, we have had loads of riders and ponies out competing in a variety of disciplines recently. You will have already read what a huge weekend it was recently with the PCAV State Horse Trials and PCAV Inter-Zone Horse Trials held concurrently for the first time at PCVEC. Seville PC fielded two teams at State HT with 6 individuals in that from Grade 1 & 2. It was obvious from the dressage phase that we had a strong contender in Anna Church & Viewbank Icon to take out the Grade 1 Championship. Sitting in 2 nd place with one point separating her and the leader, Anna then cruised around the cross-country and showjumping lifting herself to a convincing and very well deserved first place. Jarryd Stanley & Spring Into Action finished very strongly too in the Grade 1, whilst our grade 2 riders Madi Buttolph & Henschke, Jasmine Dillon & Vinchezno and Maddy Kitto & My Friend Jack and all finished safely at their first State Horse Trials. Sadly, Maddy Creber & Riverdale Cooper retired in the cross-country phase but we are very relieved that all is now well with them. Anna, Madi & Maddy were successful in the Teams Event placing 2 nd overall. PCAV State Horse Trials Grade 1 Champions Anna Church & Viewbank Icon 3
Aside from the remarkable achievement these riders made securing their starts at this event, we are and should be proud of the example they set. All riders are regular rally attenders and participants. They lead the way by assisting at set-up and pack-ups. They and their families are all regular volunteers at the various events they attend and some they that are not even competing at. They also assist at club and zone working bees and many have been very actively involved in planning and assisting at our club events. The riders who do partake in all these activities are well rewarded with immense club support and pride which in turn contributes back to their success as riders and club members. Hats off to you all and to your families; the journey there is a major achievement and the final results are a bonus to you all. PCAV State Horse Trials, Grade 1 s Jarryd Stanley & Spring Into Action with Anna Church & Viewbank Icon. Second place team riders Anna Church, Madi Buttolph and Maddy Kitto At Inter-Zones, the following Grade 3 & 4 Combinations also got to test out the PCVEC facilities for the first time too. Camilla Baker & Plovers Rest, Lachie Nicholls & Nimerion Park Amelia, Ella O Sullivan & Pancho, Lilly Trevorrow & Ocean Coast, Jessica Tyrrell & Bundle of Joy and Ashleigh Wilson & Pebbles all represented the North Metro Zone proudly. Ella & Lilly were part of the Grade 3 NMZ team that came 2 nd overall, whilst Jess was an important contributor to the 3 rd placed team in Grade 4. All these riders helped NMZ bring home the Interzone shield again. Many of these riders regardless of place achieved some fantastic personal bests and again the club is proud of your achievements. No doubt too, these riders were inspired by the Grade 1s & 2 s and have set themselves some State goals for 2018 onwards. 4

North Metro Dazzlers: Camilla Baker & Plovers Rest, Isabella O Donnell-Fernando & YP Airs & Graces (YGPC), Kira Hetherton & Prince Sharman (HPC) and Emma Sampson & Ghasal (LMPC) PCAV ran open classes also on this weekend and four of our riders; Giorgia Fontana & Sandhills Benson, Grace George & Cooper, Ella Trevorrow & Bilibo Baggins and Emily Tyrrell & Cognac Connoisseur all competed successfully and each came home with a place in their respective classes. Congratulations to you all as well and we look forward to watching your progress. Open riders Grace George, Emily Tyrrell, Ella Trevorrow and Giorgia Fontana We were delighted to hear PCAV thank Seville Pony Club specifically at the presentations for its support on this weekend. Congratulations to all our combinations at these events and to those who assisted PCAV make the events successful. 6
NMZ Yeringberg Teams Event We thank our small but strong gang this year who represented Seville PC so admirably at this event. Congratulations to Lotte Ambler & Boxing Day who won the Grade 2 section, to Lara McNally & Frogswell and Kiera McNally & Jasmine who at the last minute joined with a Yarra Glen PC rider to come in second. Our Team C also with just three riders lead by Camilla Baker & Plovers Rest with Lily Callaway & Sienna Blackberry and Jasmine Dillon & Dom Kavalier placed sixth. I hope that all our Grade 2, 3 & 4 riders will join in this special competition next year. Our thanks must also go to Helen Dillon for the co-ordinating and managing of all the volunteers from Seville at this event. 12 May Rally This month we have another fabulous line-up of instructors and I thank you all very much for your prompt replies to the call for attendance. It makes planning a bit easier knowing who we might expect to attend, but ultimately it helps assure riders the best variation of lessons and balance of group numbers. I ask you to continue to please respond as requested to monthly rally attendances and of course advise of any change of plans. Many of you have contacted me recently to thank the club for the great rallies and the committee is so glad for your positive feedback. We value all feedback and ideas for changes and improvements. We work hard to plan a variety of lessons to best suit the groups with a selection of wonderful instructors. It was especially nice to welcome back former member Amber Shiel-Jones as an instructor last rally. Amber was a well-loved riding member at SPC and from all reports is now a well-loved instructor. Amber is big sister to Orange Group s Ella and daughter of our incredibly hard-working Kevin. It is testament to her time at the club too that she returns in this new role. This month we also welcome for the first time Shanyn Heuvel as an instructor. Shanyn is a CIC* Eventer and teaches at many other pony clubs near-by. It is timely to remind all rally attendees that punctuality is very important. A rally starts at set-up and to be on time horses must be tied up safely in the tie-up area with water, hay and rugs and so on before set-up. Set-up in the next few months is from am. You then have 15 minutes afterwards to tack up and be in your group area on-time for gear check. This part of the rally is vital to get started and run to time. Running late is disruptive and disrespectful to our instructors and fellow group members. We largely get this right but it s up to all riders to be a part of this initial process. If you are attending as an unmounted rider you are required to be a part of the set-up and pack-up process too and join your group in full SPC uniform on foot for the rally asper the plan. For those wishing to be graded at a rally also please ensure you attend all lessons as per the plan. If anyone wishes to be graded at this rally please send a note to me at sevillepcdc@gmail.com. We have two new members starting this week Ella Bianchi & Ellie Westall with the Silver Group. Please welcome them. Finally, please see the flyer at the end of the newsletter for the NMZ Eventing Clinic open to Pre 5, Grade 4 & 5 and training 3 riders. These clinics are hugely popular and so worth going to. I look forward to seeing you all this week on time and ready to enjoy this busy and exciting day. Anna Baker 12
