1 Newsletter June, 2016 Message from the President Here we are mid-way through the 2016 and with winter upon us, we have the opportunity to reflect on our past equestrian adventures. Every experience adds to the development of your riding pursuits and creates memories and perhaps goals to work towards. I particularly enjoyed the last rally; welcoming new members and observing the beginning of new friendships as well as seeing valued instructors hug each other with excitement at being at Seville passing on their knowledge to our members. Setup was flawless, with everyone pitching in and having time to get organised before gear check. Thanks to the DC team who really take the time to make each rally fun, educational and inspiring. Congratulations to all riders who competed at InterZones. You all contributed to the Northern Metro Winning the Zone Teams Shield. Whoo hooo! We also had our first Awards Night to acknowledge our SPC community of riders and parents which had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We welcome any suggestions or feedback as this is your club! I won't be at the next rally as we are having a family holiday but do look out for Rally Plans and information on Facebook and the website. Stay warm and have fun! 2 DC News Congratulations to all our riders who represented the North Metro Zone at the recent PCAV InterZone Teams Horse Trials at Yeringberg. The event was hugely successful and happy. Under some dire conditions all the Seville riders and families, again, did our club and zone proud and contributed to the North Metro Zone winning the Zones Teams Shield. It was such a wonderful opportunity to meet riders from far away in Victoria and to ride in teams with our neighbouring clubs. It was also great to see one of our riders and a club parent in the open sections. Many riders achieved some impressive personal bests. For others, things didn t go as they had hoped but they were still smiling and supporting their team mates and reflecting positively on the experience. Lastly but importantly we were truly blessed to be supported by some of our fabulous dads; Pete Kitto, Daryl Van Beek and Newton Harvey who all rescued several bogged and skidding drivers with floats. We thank you all graciously. I encourage all eligible grade 3 & 4 riders to enter this event next year and be part of the unique teams spirit Dates: TBA

5 Seville Pony Club DC news cont d New Members This month we are excited to welcome Elizabeth Whitford, who is starting in our Red Group. From all reports the members who started last month had a ball & joined in the rally like longstanding members. Uniform Please be reminded that it is compulsory for all members to wear the correct & clean Seville Pony Club uniform (as per your recent renewal letter) to all rallies mounted or unmounted. White, cream, beige or banana coloured jodhpurs, Seville Pony Club polo top, Seville Pony Club fleece or State hoodie or other approved club outer wear, black or brown boots and matching gaiters if you choose to wear them. 6 Awards & Celebrations On Saturday, May 28 the club hosted the first SPC Annual Awards Night. Many of you will recall our awards were previously presented at the Christmas rally. This year with a new format most of the awards covered an 18-month period. From all reports the night was an enormous success and enjoyed by all. Many of the votes for the awards were very close. 8 Seville Pony Club Certificates Congratulations to Zeke Dewhurst-Sibley, Sienna Clarke & Isis Dewhurst-Sibley who completed their E certificates at the May rally. Also congratulations to Laura Abbott, Tessa Goff & Celina Mavor who completed their C certificates at Mt Evelyn Pony Club in June. Sadly, no-one has any photos of this day because the weather was so dreadful, so extra well done girls on seeing the day through & successfully gaining your certificates. For those of you who are going to be tested in the near future, keep an eye out for any s you may receive from our Instructor Nicky Mullens. Nicky will let you know at the rally if there is anything to be completed before the next rally. If you have any questions or queries about something please ask.

9 Forthcoming Events The Seville PC Annual Dressage Competition will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 27 & 28 at our grounds. Last year the club had an unprecedented number of entries over both days in the pony club, open and EA Tests. SPC will be offering the same opportunities for all riders from pre-grade 5 upwards this year. SPC Volunteers Co-ordinator, Chantal McNally has put out an early call for job preferences shortly. Please watch out for this list on the notice board at the rally to ensure she can get a roster going and assist everyone to have a job they are comfortable with. Remember that all SPC families, as a condition of membership, are required to assist at this event. As well this year, our dressage competition will now be the second of three NMZ State Qualifers for the 2017 PCAV State Dressage Championships (grades 1-3) held early next year. For riders who are interested in this event next year you will need to attempt to qualify at these designated State Qualifiers. It is not compulsory to attend all. This series will replace the single qualifying day held in previous years. See below for more information. Please visit Kim for any horsey needs and desires! 2017 PACV State Dressage and Showjumping Championships NMZ has elected to change the qualifying process for this. In order to qualify, riders have the opportunity to enter three events for dressage and two for SJ. A third SJ qualifier may be added subject to Zone approval. The more you do of these the better chance you have of qualifying for one of the team places at the State Champs. Points will be awarded in order of places at each qualifying event and team places allocated accordingly. The following events are 2017 State Qualifiers: Check for entries & confirmation.
