1 WELCOME Welcome to Ho-Down Slo-Down The Calgary Ultimate Association is proud to continue a longstanding tradition of hosting a two-day extravaganza of disc flinging, party rockin, great times and spirited competition. Sunday, June 22, 2013 Games begin at 9:00 AM Schedule to follow 2:30 PM: Div A finals Saturday Ho-Down A Division Seeding Each team will be seeded after Saturday s games. The first and second seeds will receive a first round bye. The winner of the 4th vs. 5th game will play the 1st seed and the 2nd seed will play the winner of the 3rd vs. 6th seed in semi-final play. The winner of each of these matches will play in the final at 2:30pm. Saturday Ho-Down B Division seeding and Slo-Down C Division Seeding After Saturday round robin games, all teams will be seeded. The top group and the bottom group will play quarter finals, then semi-finals and then the finals. Tie Breaker Format for Ho-Down and Slo-Down Seeding is first based on wins/losses. In case of a tie, the first tie breaker is based on head to head play. The second tie breaker is decided based on point differential. If a third tie breaker is required, the team with the most points scored will be awarded a higher seed. If teams are still tied, each team will choose a player to shotgun a beer, the team who is the fastest will be the higher seed. Schedules will be posted on and at disc central.

3 EVENT INFORMATION Captains Meeting The Captains Meeting for will be held at Disc Central at 8:20 AM on Saturday, June 22, All captains MUST ATTEND the captains meeting. Captains will receive captains packages, can ask any questions and will find out about any last-minute modifications to the tournament schedule. All outstanding tournament fees must be paid at the Captains Meeting. All players must be rostered and waivers must be completed ONLINE prior to receiving wristbands. Format & Rules Co-ed 4M/3F or 4F/3M (Pulling team must match the receiving team) Foot-blocks are allowed only in A/B Pool (unless otherwise agreed upon by both captains) Mirror half (Please keep the half time 5 minutes or less) Pool games and qualifiers to 13 (win by 2, hard cap 15) Semis and Finals to 15 (win by 2, hard cap at 17) Pool Games - 2 timeouts total Semis & Finals - 1 timeout per half + 1 floater No timeout during hard cap The finals will be soft-capped only 1 Horn - Start of Game 2 Horns - Soft cap at 15 minutes prior to scheduled end time (AFTER current point add 2 points to the highest score, No timeouts in caps) 3 Horns - Hard cap at 5 minutes prior to scheduled end time (last point unless the game is tied, then play one more) Report your scores on the website at on the tournament/schedule page, come to Disc Central or find a volunteer to report the score to. Game scores must be reported within 20 minutes of the last horn or the TD will make something up (and it won t be pretty!) Fields All games will be played on the lush green fields of the Calgary Rugby Union (9025 Shepard Road SE). A field map is attached and will be on display at Disc Central on game day. Please note the following regulations for CRU: Please be respectful and use garbage and recycling bins Use designated entrances to playing fields; DO NOT climb fences DO NOT ride bicycles through the park ALL static warm ups are to be performed in the end zones and/or off field areas DO NOT spray insect repellent on fields or grass No speeding in parking lots NO DOGS IN THE PARK AT ANY TIME

4 Discs Special 2014 Ho-Down & Slo-Down Discs will be available for purchase at Disc Central all weekend while supplies last. Discs will be $15 each so bring your cash to secure your piece of Ho-Down & Slo-Down history. Accommodation & Showers Free camping and showers will be available at the CRU. Alcohol is not permitted in the camping area. Friday Night Welcome Party at CRU Join us Friday night from 6:00 PM onwards for drinks and pre-tourney partying in the CRU clubhouse. Saturday Night Dinner & Party Dinner will be served in the big white tent starting at 6:00 PM. Play some ever popular cups on our large cups pitch or even some beer pong. OR try your luck at beer bungee. Dancing and DJ entertainment starts at 9:00 PM with DJ Bass-Lion. Wristbands Wristbands are good for dinner and drinks and partying and fun. Extra Partiers Extra tickets for the party only (non-players) can be purchased at Disc Central all day Saturday for $30 which includes dinner, party and beer. No substitutions, no exceptions. Fundraisers Attention partygoers, make sure you bring some extra money. Calgary s Women s ultimate team WildRose is going to be selling Jello Shots at the party. Calgary s Women s masters team Dyna is going to be holding a 50/50 raffle. Food & Water Field food will be provided all weekend as well as a catered dinner Saturday night. CRU has installed permanent water filling stations at their facility. These are located between fields 2 and 3 as well as at the end of field 7. These locations are indicated on your field maps.

5 YYC Food Trucks One of Calgary s food trucks will be onsite on Sunday June 22, 2014 serving up their tasty treats between 11:00 AM-4:00 PM for all those campers and players with empty bellies. Be sure to allocate some funds in a separate sock, away from the Jello shooter money, for some recovery pasta. Algio e Olio is preparing homemade products from gnocchi bolognese to sausage on a bun. Division A Final Half Time Entertainment Part of CUA s mission is to make Ultimate the sport of choice in Calgary by supporting a growing community league as well as a competitive player development system from youth to masters. With this in mind CUA is proud to show off the young and upcoming talent of their youth system during the half time break in the Div A finals. Be sure to grab your grub and beer before they take the field so we can cheer on these tykes as they strut their stuff!!! On Field Emergencies In the event of an on-field medical emergency, or if medical assistance is required, please notify the Site Coordinator/Disc Central. We have transportation available if required and can help coordinate external help if required. Please refer to the Calgary Rugby Park Emergency Action Plan on the following page. PLEASE DON T DRINK AND DRIVE Please camp at the party and then you won t have to worry about getting home. Want to camp but don t have a tent? We have a tent setup for the dinner, after the dinner you can crash in the tent for the night. If you do need to go somewhere, please don t drink and drive. Please take a cab.
