Red Box Challenge: Project for Easter Dear Parents, Carers, Governors, Friends, Staff and Pupils Beverley Building Society has been a good friend of Molescroft Primary School for many years, sponsoring our Christmas Fair and this year being a major sponsor of the International Evening. Together we have a project, which can capture the spirit of the Easter Story, of hope and self sacrifice. Consequently it seemed appropriate to support their staff in a very special Charitable event. It also doesn t involve any exchange of money. Each child has been given a Red Money Box to bring home today. The idea is that they find a friend or family member to swap it with. They then find someone to swap the new item with and so on. The swap could be for a service. For example, maybe someone would swap an item for a ticket to a museum, or for a cup of coffee at a restaurant. This is therefore an Enterprising activity for the children and their family. The Building Society are providing prizes for each year group for the most original swaps. The items are to be brought to school in the first week back after the holiday. A special assembly will be organised to present the items to the Building Society.The items will then be raffled by the Society to raise money for Action Duchenne. Previous schemes to this have led to remarkable swaps including a camel, a car and a holiday home but these were in the States and involved the business community. We are not expecting that kind of level, but perhaps some may find some very interesting swaps. Anything Goes! A game or teddy bear, anything non perishable will be acceptable. Participation is entirely optional and the children can keep their money boxes if they do not have time to engage in the swapping enterprise. More details on the next page.

2 THE RED BOX CHALLENGE Further Information from Beverley Building Society Overview The Beverley Building Society is celebrating their 150 th Anniversary by getting involved in the local community in a number of ways. As the Society already has a good relationship with Molescroft Primary School, it seemed fitting to get involved and support each other s projects for The Beverley Building Society is seeking to run a project that involves children and their families from the local community. The Red Box Challenge is based on the famous Red Paperclip Project, and aims to encourage negotiating skills amongst pupils, as well as teaching the lesson of individual value perception. Items Collected The items collected from the pupils can range from clothes to toys and anything unique and imaginative is encouraged the weirder the better! The items that can be donated will be used as raffle prizes for Action Duchenne. Duchenne muscular dystrophy: is the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed in childhood, affecting approximately 1 in every 3,500 live male births (around 2500 people have DMD in the UK). Because the Duchenne gene is found on the X-chromosome, it primarily affects boys with less than 1% of those with Duchenne being female. However, it occurs across all races and cultures. Duchenne results in progressive loss of strength and is caused by a mutation in the gene that encodes for dystrophin. Because dystrophin is absent, the muscle cells are easily damaged. The progressive muscle weakness leads to serious medical problems, particularly issues relating to the heart and lungs. Young men with Duchenne typically live into their late twenties. Life expectancy is improving as standards of care and knowledge about Duchenne increases, and some men live into their 30 s and 40 s Lesley Wegg, Head of Operations at Beverley Building Society will be hosting the 3rd Annual Save Our Sons Charity Ball in aid of Action Duchenne. This event raises awareness of the condition that affects 53 youngsters in East Yorkshire and this year has a theme of a Masquerade Ball. However, it is the raffle that raises the most funds as it is more financially accessible to many. Prizes Prizes are available for each class winner, there will also be an overall school winner, who will be burying the Society s Time Capsule at an exclusive garden party event in June. Details to be announced at the presentation assembly. Marketing Manager Zoe Fisher attended the school today to introduce the challenge and presented the money boxes to the children. The children should therefore have brought their money boxes home tonight and can complete the challenge over the Easter break, their return to school will conclude the trading challenge. 2 Zoe will return to the school to collect the items which will be judged by staff at the Society. There will then be an awards assembly at which the winners will receive their prizes, every child will receive a certificate.

3 GOVERNOR OF THE MONTH: Richard West Following the Parent/Carer survey last summer, it was suggested that in order to help parents to get a better knowledge of the governing body, a feature should be included in the newsletter. Below is the first such feature from our Vice Chair of Governors: Mr. Richard West. Born in Beverley and brought up in Willerby my roots have always been in the East Riding. Like Mr. Loncaster and Mr Britton, I attended Wolfreton School (I was in the same class as Mr. Britton s brother) and then progressed onto Hull College studying Business and Finance. My career aspiration was always to join the police force something which I achieved in 1999, but having been unsuccessful at 18 I went to University in Hull to study Business Management. Before joining the police I had numerous jobs ranging from delivering cars, working on the Humber Bridge to working in numerous bars including being a cocktail barman juggling and throwing bottles around like Tom Cruise (I probably dropped more than I caught). During my 17 years in the Police I was promoted very early in my career which found me working across numerous uniformed roles in Hull such as response, custody, youth diversion and community. I am currently on a career break from the police to further my studies which is kindly being sponsored by football. My true passion is for refereeing football. As a 14 year old I qualified as a referee never realising the impact it was going to have on my life. 27 years on and nearly every week I walk out as an assistant referee (linesman in old money) in the English Premier League watched by half the world s population over 212 territories. I have been an assistant referee in nearly 450 professional matches of which nearly 250 in the Premier League. I have officiated at Wembley 4 times and represented my country in 21 matches in 15 different countries. I would highly recommend it to those youngsters who are not quite good enough to make it as a footballer but mad about football as there are so many opportunities out there from such a young age. I met my wife Claire 21 years ago whilst working at Pepis on the marina (for those that can remember it) and have been married for 15 years. We have two girls one at the High School and the other in her final year at Molescroft. Like Adrian this is my second period as a parent governor one which I take very seriously. I have stepped up to support Adrian as his Vice Chair and hopefully between us we can strive to support the school through the next challenging few years. COMIC RELIEF Eurovision Joke Contest! Friday 24th March 2017 RESULTS Just in case you haven t heard, the results of the Eurovision Joke Contest for Comic Relief are in and there was a tie for first place! The Foundation Stage had us in stitches with the following: What is a Pirate s favourite shop? Don t know? Arr-gos! Mrs. Grainger s and Mrs. Nicholls Class joined them for top honours with the following: Two cats had a race to swim the channel. One was called One Two Three and the other Un Deux Trois. Which cat won? Don t know? One Two Three won because Un Deux Trois Quatre Cinq. Many thanks for our expert panel of judges. Mr. Richard West, Mrs. Penny Walker, Mrs. Jenny Wilson and Mr. David Platten who clearly know a classic when they hear one! It was also a very relaxing day at school in our onesies and pyjamas. TOTAL raised so far is

4 4 IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDING REVIEW New Security Arrangements from April 24th As I often tell the children my number one job is not ensuring their success in English and Maths (extremely important though this is) but rather ensuring their safety and protection. We have been reviewing our security arrangements at the end of the school day. If as a school we shut at 3:30pm security would be extremely easy, but of course we don t, rather offering a myriad of events, activities and clubs up to 6pm and sometimes beyond. Balancing access to enable this to all occur can at times potentially cause security conflicts. Clearly should a determined attacker want to get into any school, this could not be prevented and may I add it is highly unlikely. Even so our security should make unauthorised entry difficult and unauthorised escape equally so! From the 24 th April the following will therefore apply. Ensuring security of the site after 3:40pm The south of the site will continue to be secured by locking the gates to the South Playground. New gates are to be fitted across the step entrance to the North Playground and across the promenade (near the caretaker s shed). These will also be locked at 3:40pm therefore securing the north access to the site. Outdoor clubs will therefore be operating on a completely sealed site. Access to the Tea Club will now be via the Year 1 entrance and cloakroom, where the children will keep their coats and bags, etc. There will be a bell for visiting parents as there is now. Exit for all non hall based indoor clubs will now be through the black door onto the Foundation Year Courtyard. Club leaders will supervise the children leaving by escorting the children through the building, then out through the Black Door. This will also become the staff exit from 4:15pm. The door auto locks. Parents can wait in the Foundation Courtyard or in the School Foyer as they do now as the children will all come through the Foundation Year gate towards the front door of the school, although from 3:45pm the auto lock will be activated and at 4:15pm when the office closes the electric shutter will separate the school from the front entrance. The hall door will be secured by latches operated by the club leaders. Children attending clubs in the hall will leave the hall through the main front door as normal. Children arriving for clubs starting after 4:15pm should enter via the hall fire exit by ringing the bell. Children changing for Zumba or Gymnastics will now use the North Block (Year 1 classrooms). It will still be possible for outdoor clubs to release members and adult audience without going through the school. Club organisers will have a padlock key for the South Playground gate and will escort members to the gate, unlocking the padlock and then re securing the site. Children meeting adults in the foyer however will return through the school (Y4 entrance, where they can keep belongings) and out through the Black Door to the Foundation Stage Courtyard as described above. Thank you to everyone who supported the Friends Association Tea Party (AGM). We have had a very positive response to the plea for new members for the committee. I am also very grateful to Mrs. Rebecca Chapman who has agreed to be the next Chair of FOMS. The Friends Association looks destined to continue to flourish and provide wonderful resources for the children of Molescroft. Children in Hall Clubs are to use the North Block Toilets. EXCEPTIONAL ARRANGEMENTS for THEATRE CLUB Due to the large number of members, the shutter will not be lowered cutting off the school, but the front door will be locked by the latch rather than the remote lock. It will therefore not be possible for parents to wait inside on Monday nights. A member of staff will monitor pupils leaving. Parents are reminded that they have responsibility for ensuring that pickup arrangements are made for their children attending clubs. If older children are allowed to walk home alone that is fine, but if a parent is unable to complete an arranged pick up, please ensure that alternative arrangements are made, which must be communicated with the school office. The last line of security is a reminder to all children that if the person they know should be collecting them is not present they MUST return immediately to a member of staff. If all the above seems rather confusing, I am not surprised, but do not worry, we ll be on hand to help you get used to the arrangements.

5 TIMES TABLES ROCK STARS Molescroft Children top the local leader board with their average score As part of our 20 Ideas for 20% gain campaign we have turned to Times Tables. This is the one single factor, which can have the most impact on pupils performance in Maths. Children in Year 5 and 6 are enrolled on the Times Tables Rock Stars programme where they have created an Avatar persona. Each child competes against him or herself to move from Headliner to Rock Star to Rock Legend to Rock Hero. More swimming news Toby Clausen has been selected by ASA England to join a Yorkshire elite training camp, run over 3 days this year. Congratulations Toby! In addition they compete against each other in time trials to become the class champion. The top performers from Year 5 and Year 6 will be feted on Friday 23rd June. They will be treated as Rock Royalty for the day before featuring in a spectacular Times Tables Rock Band in assembly. They will compete to be crowned the Molescroft Times Table Rock Star of the Year 2017 and to win a trophy which will no doubt dominate the winner s home mantelpiece! So the challenge is set and I ask Parents/Carers to support their More Opportunities to visit the Library children in rising to the times tables challenge. I aim that this will become an annual event and therefore part of the pattern of the Molescroft year. Children in Year 2 to 4 should also be encouraged to develop their fast times tables recall as multiplication and division questions in preparation for when they too will be able to take the challenge in Year 5 and 6. All work done now will be an investment in their chance to become a times table superstar. LIBRARY LUNCHTIMES Extra Slots Available As our children are so busy, some children are struggling to get to the Library session for their Year Group because they are so busy. In response to this the opportunities have been doubled up to enable the Every child however has an impact because the school average is compared with schools in a 30 mile radius. I am delighted to announce therefore that currently Molescroft is in NUMBER 1 place, and that is above some Secondary Schools. KEEP IT UP MOLES - this is absolutely fabulous. May I also take this opportunity to thank you and especially the children for the way in which the changes to the structure of the day have been received. The response has been extremely positive and the children are working very hard. children to have more choices. See the clubs pages for details. Following the recent Pupil Council meeting I am pleased to confirm that later this summer a new fiction section is to open and children will be able to borrow books, booked out by our Junior Librarians. 5

STARLIGHT EXPRESS THE RACE IS ON! THEATRE CLUB Rehearsals start on the first day back after the Easter Holiday A rehearsal schedule has been published and is on the website. It means that children will not have to attend every Monday evening or indeed for the full Monday evenings. It is very important though that every child involved does attend when required and that once a commitment is made it is expected that everyone will see the project through to the end. Children may bring a snack to the club to be eaten at a scheduled break time. Parts were also handed out today and I know some will be disappointed. I am very proud of every one of the 59 children who bravely put themselves forward for audition. I am sure you are too.

8 NATIONAL TESTS FOR YEAR 2 AND YEAR 6 No need to panic! The next few weeks are very important for our pupils in Year 2 and Year 6. They will be taking their National Tests. Children in Year 2 are taking these tests over the next half term. Year 6 however will take all their tests in the week commencing Monday 8 th May Absence for Year 6 pupils during this week is to be avoided at all costs. Should illness strike, arrangements can be made and Parents/Carers should contact Mr. Loncaster directly. Year 6 will be feeling nervous about the week. However, they must remember that they have been taught and prepared (as have Year 2) by professional and dedicated teachers. They now need to be ready to do their best. This is all we can ask of them. We urge Y6 children to remain calm, to get a good rest each night and support each other. CLASS PHOTOGRAPHS Combs at the Ready On Monday 15th May our photographers are coming to school to take photos of all classes Foundation Year and Year 6. Following the hugely positive feedback from parents we have recommissioned Wrates to do this work with the contemporary twist being given to the photos. Please ensure that pupils are in school in their school uniform (not that I really need to remind you as parents/carers always send children in uniform). It would be appreciated if jumpers could be available even if it is a hot day. Year 6 and the Foundation Year will have photos taken in the class / group format and also as a full cohort of 60 on the Adventure Playground. THANK YOU BOB BENTLEY 20 Years of Table Tennis Early this week we said a fond farewell to Mr. Bob Bentley who has for the past 20 years provided Table It is important to have a school jumper or cardigan at school on Monday 15th May 2017, even if it is a hot day! Tennis lessons to our Year 6 pupils. Bob retired as Caretaker around 15 years ago but has continued to be a regular every week throughout the year. We presented him with a framed Golden Bat this week and he finished off his much appreciated voluntary work with a demonstration match against Mrs. Coward in assembly. We can dream of a sunny summer, can t we? FUN IN THE SUN Keep safe this summer Just a reminder that it is recommended that pupils have a wide brimmed or foreign legion style hat which protects the neck. Pupils are also recommended to have sun cream at school but the following protocol must be observed. The sun cream must be clearly labelled with the child s name. The sun cream must be kept in the box provided in each class NOT in book bags, coats or pockets. Each child must be trained at home how to best apply his or her own sun cream. Teachers and supervisors cannot apply sun cream for your child unless there is a medical requirement, this being dealt with through the Administration of Medicines Policy. Parents may consider applying a cream on their children which will last a full day, which clearly makes things easier at school, although last year there was some debate as to whether this was safe enough. I leave it to you to decide what you prefer. 8

SAFETY FOR CHILDREN Encouraging children to take simple precautions will prevent both short and long term sun damage while allowing them to enjoy their time outside. Infants under 12 months should be kept in the shade. Cover up children with hats, protective clothing and sunglasses. Use a sunscreen with an appropriate SPF factor for each family member based on individual skin type. Limit the time spent in the midday sun when the UV index is at its highest. Monitor exposure to the sun using a UV monitor. THE SOLAR INDEX The UV Index is a scale given to the level of UV radiation on a given day. It ranges from 0 to 20-the higher the index, the higher the potential for damage to the skin and eyes and the less time it takes for this damage to occur.

10 School Meals are Excellent Value. Adult Guests for dinner. I am delighted that our meal service is so popular with not only our pupils but also with adult guests. There is however a limit to capacity for visitors. If you intend to come to school to have lunch, please do not promise your child that you are coming unless you have a definite booking reserved. We can take bookings up to a week in advance until capacity is reached. I thank you for your understanding. PUPIL DINNERS MUST BE PREPAID, no more than 2.30 will be accepted in arrears. Money must be sent to the classroom in a labelled envelope. PLEASE DO NOT SEND LOOSE MONEY. Each room has a post box through which letters and money (providing it is in a labelled sealed envelope) can be sent to the school office. Meals are advertised on the website and there is always the salad with two wraps option. Children can self serve salad, vegetables and fruit salad and can have second portions. * Please note; there are occasions e.g at Christmas, during the show week, and on sporting tournament days when it is not possible to accommodate extra adult guests at lunchtime. The same applies on the first week in September when the priority is to reestablish systems for our pupils particularly our new starters. 12 Sports Mole Molescroft mid table after the first round YEAR 6 BIG SCHOOLS LEAGUE AT LONGCROFT- 6/3/17 Molescroft got off to a slow start in this first round of fixtures, coming up against a strong Keldmarsh team in their first game. Under pressure for large parts of the match, they could not gain the upperhand and succumbed to a 3-0 defeat. Next opponents were Walkington and Molescroft got off to a better start. A good header from Sam Davies led to an early chance on goal but Walkington counterattacked, their attempt thwarted by great defending by Charlie Lewin and Josh Bruton. Superb handling by Keeper Will Britt ensured a clean sheet, final score 0-0. Swinemoor came next and with Molescroft finding their passing game they retained possession to have some attempts on goal. Charlie Lewin eventually forced the ball home to score the winning goal and earn his team a valuable 3 points on the table. With a win under their belts and feeling more confident, Molescroft came up against a very strong Minster side and despite all their hard work they were unable to stop a deflected goal going into the net. Once again defenders Josh and Charlie battled bravely and Will pulled off some great saves to prevent any further score. However, Molescroft attackers could not find the net and they lost the game 0-1. A little deflated, Molescroft found themselves against Tickton next and they seemed to take William Britt is a secure pair of hands in the Molescroft Goal command. Sam passed accurately to Hayden Bennett but his superb shot was saved somehow by the Tickton keeper. Despite great tackling and tireless chasing by Charlie Edmond and Nick Taylor in midfield the game ended stalemate, a 0-0 draw. Penultimate opponents were St Nicks who were on fine form. Molescroft soon found themselves behind and after a lucky break by St Nicks they were 2-0 down. Stunned into action, Hayden fired a cracking shot at goal which rocketed into the roof of the net giving heart to his side. Unfortunately time ran out and Molescroft were unable to add to their score, final score 1-2. Final opponents were local rivals St Mary s and Sam was soon tackling and chasing for the ball to gain possession. Charlie Edmond passed superbly to Nick Taylor who hit a cracking shot into the bottom left corner to take the lead. With Molescroft s defensive team, Charlie Lewin, Josh and Keeper Will keeping things tight at the back, Hayden went on a solo run, surging forward to score his second of the night and giving his team the victory they needed. On completion of all the games Molescroft find themselves mid-table, with Minster holding on to a strong lead remaining unbeaten through all games. Good luck next week boys. Six matches back to back on one evening is quite an ask, but our boys played with determination until the final whistle.

13 Sports Mole Great skill demonstrated on the Tables YEAR 6 TABLE TENNIS AT LONGCROFT- 9/3/17 Molescroft were able to send two teams to this new event on their sporting calendar and all the players thoroughly enjoyed the experience. With 10 teams participating, each team of 4 played 9 games, so competition was quick and fast and the time flew by. Molescroft Green won 5 and lost 4 giving them a total score of 15 points, 5 th in the table. Molescroft yellow were more successful, with 8 wins and 1 loss and total score of 24 points, 2 nd in the table. A very strong Walkington side won the event, remaining unbeaten throughout their games. However, all Molescroft players can feel immensely proud of themselves and they have clearly shown great skill and expertise in this great sport. Excellent performances everyone. 14 Sports Mole Girls survive wintry night in Netball Tournaments Netball report Many congratulations to the A team from Walkington who won the competition at Longcroft on the 21 st March. Minster were 2nd, Keldmarsh 3rd and Molescroft came in 4th. All the girls played great games despite the cold weather; windy conditions and threat of rain. After a slow start both the A and B teams found their feet and began to play with more energy and confidence. The girls had to rotate through the 5 positions of play, as is common practice with High-5 netball, so everyone had a chance to play all the different roles: Goal Attack, Goal Scorer, Centre, Goal Defence, Goal Keeper. There were also 10 other teams who entered the friendly competition to play and experience competitive netball. Thank you to Longcroft for organising the event and thanks to all the parents for braving the wintry conditions to support our girls. 15 Sports Mole Orienteering Victory for Year 5 Orienteering Victory for Molescroft The sun came out for our orienteering squads on the 28 th March for the annual competition. Over 20 of our Y4/5/6 children turned up to the Grammar School to take part in the competition. All the children were given a map of the grounds and an electronic dibber which recorded the children s journey and times. The actual trail should have taken around 20 minutes but a 5 minute penalty was incurred if the markers were dibbed in the wrong order or missed out. All the children taking part did well and joined in cheerfully. The Y5 team did extremely well and won the tournament; whilst Y6 came in second. The children below had such fast times they have been invited on to the next round at Cottingham School on the 16 th May. Well done to all our teams and thank you to the parents for transporting the children and braving the traffic! 16 Sports Mole Great defending failed to save the Moles YEAR 6 BIG SCHOOLS LEAGUE AT LONGCROFT- 13/3/17 In this second week of matches Molescroft started well against Keldmarsh, but an error at the back led to a penalty kick which was converted by Keldmarsh to put them in front. Further pressure was smothered by Josh Bruton, clearing well in defence, however, Molescroft were unable to score and so lost their first game. Up against Walkington next, Molescroft had a few early chances, Nick Taylor and Hayden Bennett attacking the goal with confidence. Their efforts were blocked and following a counter-attack, Walkington took the lead. Josh, Charlie Lewin and keeper Will Britt prevented further score, but time ran out leaving Walkington the victors. In their third game Molescroft came up against Swinemoor and a great early interception by Hayden almost led to the hoped for goal that Molescroft needed. Sadly his shot was saved by the keeper who moments later saved his second attempt after an excellent solo run. With play going from end to end and Will pulling off a couple of superb saves to keep the game goalless, Molescroft almost managed a draw. But after a lucky break Swinemoor scored the all important winning goal. Feeling a little dejected Molescroft found themselves playing Minster, league leaders at the end of week one. A slip at the back enabled Minster to take the lead and despite Sam Davies strong tackling and tracking back, they managed to score a second. Clearly the stronger side, Minster forced a third goal before the final whistle, winning the game 3-0. Molescroft hoped for better things against Tickton and started strongly. Great tackling from Nick and Charlie Edmond helped their cause and things looked to be improving. However, despite Moles show courage on a night, which was clearly not going their way heroic efforts from Will saving with his feet, the ball rebounded to Tickton and they tucked the ball into the back of the net. Molescroft did not give up and battled on, defending until the final whistle, sadly losing another game. St Nicks were next and Charlie E led the attack with a wonderful solo effort, unfortunately his shot went just wide. He continued to tackle strongly, assisted in midfield by Sam and Nick, and they seemed to be gaining the upper hand, but no one was able to get the ball across the goal line. The game ended in a goalless draw. Final opponents were St Mary s and with both teams evenly matched the game looked to be ending another draw. Hayden had a brilliant shot saved by their keeper and Nick and Sam battled well in the middle of the field. However, despite great defending by Will, Josh and Charlie L, St Mary s seized their chance when the ball rebounded and they scored the winning goal. Having remained unbeaten in all their games Minster ended the night worthy League Champions. Although this was not a good night for Molescroft, everyone was disappointed, they all enjoyed the experience and eagerly await their next competition. There is time now for the team to regroup before the next competition. Calling all footballers boys and girls to sign up for the school teams by attending the clubs on Wednesdays Y3/Y4 boys & Y3 to Y6 Girls and on Fridays Y5/Y6 boys.

17 Sports Mole Another Sporting Golden Mole is revealed. Henry Illingworth It's been a great start to the year for Henry Illingworth who is a member of East Yorkshire Judo Academy. Henry travelled to Goole on Sunday 19th March to take part in the Yorkshire Closed Judo Championships in the under 12yrs and under 34kgs group. Henry had a great start in this very close group with all of the players both winning and losing contests to different players. At the end of the day both candidates in the Silver and Bronze positions had 3 wins each. Unfortunately Henry just lost out on the Silver by one point. Not stopping there, Henry then went onto the Hull open Red and Yellow belt Championships on Sunday 2nd April hoping to add to his medal collection. He was not to be disappointed and with his will to win and the experience of his last competition he made short work of his opponents to win all of his contests in his group to take the Gold home and back to Molescroft. We continue to discover that so many of our pupils are performing at county and national levels and achieving teams competing for the title as Yorkshire champions. EYJA was seen as the team to beat having won the title twice before. They came out on top again beating Steel City/Penistone in the final to take the Gold and Title Yorkshire Champions. Henry was also part of the red and yellow belt team EYJA team which competed in the Yorkshire team Championship in November which is no mean feat. Just to take a place in the club is a major achievement as it is very competitive and players often have to fight off against other club members trying to make the team. The team saw off all the other We wish Henry every success in the future as he continues to focus on his chosen sport. Coincidentally his coach is our very own Mr. Dave Platten.

18 Green Mole: On Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays children from year 1 to year 6 get their chance (approximately every 14 weeks) to attend the Really Wild Club. The children engage in a range of activities from our Green Curriculum. They may find themselves, pond dipping, planting the vegetables, harvesting, creating bird feeders or as below looking for signs of Spring. The year 1 classes enjoyed spotting signs of spring around school. We admired the lovely daffodils, which are all the result of gifts to previous Easter Gardens and talked about how and when we planted the bulbs. We also did some pond dipping finding lots of frogs, snails and newts.
