Thank you to everyone who came to the parents evenings last week. These meetings are really important in understanding how your child has settled into their new year group and how you can continue to support them in their learning. Key dates for the Christmas term are highlighted in the newsletter. You may notice that we have added an extra date to the Infant production (there will now be three performances instead of two) and the Church service will just involve the children from KS2 (Yrs. 3,4,5 and 6). This was due to the popularity with parents of both events last year. This will ensure we can safely seat all of you who want to come and watch the shows/service. We will review how these arrangements work at the end of the term and welcome feedback. Church Hill Car Park Can I ask for parents to not park in the Church Hill car park please, this is for residents only. And could we still be mindful of when parking around the village, talking extra care not to cause obstruction to other road users and pedestrians. Thank you for your consideration. After School Club Cancellations Board Games Club will be cancelled this Thursday 10th November and ALL clubs will be cancelled after school on Friday 9th December. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Raising Concerns If you have any concerns about your child, please speak to the class teacher in the first instance. This can be done after school or by making an appointment through the school office. Please be aware that class teachers do not have time first thing in the morning to discuss concerns in any detail. Specific issues should not be discussed with members of staff out of school. Colder Weather Now the weather is becoming colder can you please ensure your child comes to school with a coat, hat and gloves please. Breakfast Club If you need to make urgent contact with the Breakfast Club or book your child in at short notice then please contact Mrs. Willis on: in the first instance, thank you. You will now be able to drop your child off from 7.30am by prior arrangement with Mrs Willis or the school office. Film Club Please be advised that Film Club finishes at 4.30pm rather than the advertised 4.15pm. Tesco School Uniform We have now added the unbranded items of school uniform to the Tesco website available ordering. Tesco are aware there was a problem with ordering some items of uniform but this has now been resolved. School Hours The school hours are 8:50am to 3:15pm. You can deliver your child to the playground from 8:40am (when staff are on duty) and collect from their class at 3:15pm. The school gates are closed at 8:55am and will be opened at 3:00pm. If someone else is collecting your child from school, please make sure the class staff or office are aware. If your child is off sick an adult needs to inform us and the nature of the illness. If your child is in late, an adult needs to come to the office and sign them in.

Dynamic Girls Thwarted at the Last On the 18 th October 2016 Dover School Sports Games held the girls football annual district qualifier at Goodwin Academy in Deal.

6 Dynamic Girls Thwarted at the Last On the 18 th October 2016 Dover School Sports Games held the girls football annual district qualifier at Goodwin Academy in Deal. There were 18 teams who entered the competition. The Temple Ewell girls had been working really hard over the last few weeks to prepare themselves for this event. We were placed in a tough group and managed to qualify second narrowly missing out on first place on goal difference. In the group the girls played excellent football, they won two matches and drawing the other. The tireless and tenacious midfield engines of Amelia W. and Abi U. were a constant force in the girls qualifying for the quarter finals. The quarter final draw was a clash of the heavyweight s, a tough match against River Primary who were a very organised and well drilled team. The match was fiercely competitive with both sides playing with determination and heart. Freya S. defensive awareness and superb positioning kept the scores level. Normal time could not separate the teams so it was penalties. The tension was building around the venue as other schools were eagerly watching on to see the drama unfold. Amelia W, Abi U. and Freya S. dispatched their penalties with power and precision. It was down to Temple Ewell s star goalkeeper Libby H. who had been incredible in between the sticks in the previous matches. True to form Libby saved River s third penalty pushing it onto the post, meaning we would go through to the semis against Priory Fields School. The semi was a frantic affair with both sides coming close with excellent attacking play, Amelia B. was Temple Ewell s catalyst with dynamic and direct play desperate to break the deadlock. Unfortunately, it was not to be as both sides struggled to get the edge but could not find the answer. Lavelle H.C and Holly B. were to blame as they made crucial tackle after tackle keeping a good Priory Fields team at bay. Once again the match ended in a stalemate and it was time for penalties. Up stepped the Temple Ewell s confident and fearless penalty takers again. This time scoring 2 out of the 3. However, Priory Fields could only manage to get 1 penalty passed the sensational Libby H. meaning Temple Ewell had qualified to the final. Deal Parochial were Temple Ewell s opponent for the final and both sides brimming with confidence. The standard in the final was extremely high. Temple Ewell battled bravely with Katie D. and Isla J. driving the team to try and score the opening goal through strong and quick play. After several minutes of play the first chance came to Deal Parochial with a penalty being awarded. However once again like so many times before the captain, the leader Libby H. saved the penalty. This spurred Temple Ewell on to push to get the first goal but unfortunately were hit on the counter attack by good play. The matched ended and Deal Parochial won the final. The Girls who represented Temple Ewell should be extremely proud as they played some excellent football. The final defeated was hard to take as the children really worked hard to be in the final. Their efforts and team work define the Temple Ewell School Spirit. Go Team Temple Ewell.

7 Premier Sport Congratulations to the children who competed in the Premier Sport Event at Deal Parochial. Premier Sport run a serious of competitions throughout the year for all junior KS2 children to take part in. The scores are accumulated across the four events and tallied at the end of the year for an overall winner. It is a great opportunity for children to try a variety of sports. The first of these events consisted of three sports for the children of Elms class to try. It included archery, football and fencing. The children had a fantastic time and represented the school brilliantly. Young Superstar Saracens Massive congratulations to Ollie F.and Jack W. who represented Dover Sharks and played on Allianz Park on Saturday. Allianz Park is home to the Saracens Rugby Club who were taking on the Leicester Tigers. Jack and Ollie played rugby at half time in front of an incredible attendance of roughly 9000 people. Well done boys! Dynamic Duo Excel in their Disciplines Congratulations to Holly B. who competed in the regional gymnastics championships. The competition took place in Guildford. Holly competed in four disciplines; floor, vault, beam and bars. Overall Holly finished an exceptional 4th out of 17 gymnasts. Well done Holly! Abi U. has also been preforming extremely well and competed in the Kent Fitness League race which was situated in Knole Park in Sevenoaks. The race distance was 2.5km and consisted of tough hilly terrain. Abi competed the course in an sensational time of 10 minutes and 44 seconds. Amazing work Abs! A massive congratulations to the girls, Temple Ewell and Mr Lecarpentier are extremely proud of your achievements and efforts! A huge congratulations to Erin K. and Abi U. for completing 1000m race for Deal Tri on Sunday 6th November. The race took place across the picturesque Deal Seafront. There was around 50 competitors. Erin competed the run in a great time of 7.19 minutes. Abi competed the race in 4.09 minutes. Well done girls. Excellent effort. We are devoted to celebrating the children's sporting achievements so do not hesitate to tell Mr Lecarpentier so we can celebrate it and mention it in the newsletter. A Special Thank you We would like to say a huge thank Temple Ewell FRIENDS for funding our new gazebos. Not only will they look the part at sporting events but also at fetes and events. Providing not only a base for our children but a shade and shelter too. We are really grateful, thank you again.
