We are in the process of establishing it s ownership so that they can complete the remedial work required. In the mean time can we advise that you use the Lower Road entrance when possible and that children avoid using bikes and scooters on the driveway please. Breakfast Club You will now be able to book and pay for your child/ren to attend Breakfast Club via ParentMail. If you would like assistance using this service then please speak to Mrs Cock in the school office. Raising Concerns If you have any concerns about your child, please speak to the class teacher in the first instance. This can be done after school or by making an appointment through the school office. Please be aware that class teachers do not have time first thing in the morning to discuss concerns in any detail. Specific issues should not be discussed with members of staff out of school. School Hours The school hours are 8:50am to 3:15pm. You can deliver your child to the playground from 8:40am (when staff are on duty) and collect from their class at 3:15pm. The school gates are closed at 8:55am and will be opened at 3:00pm. If someone else is collecting your child from school, please make sure the class staff or office are aware. If your child is off sick an adult needs to inform us and the nature of the illness. If your child is in late, an adult needs to come to the office and sign them in.

5 Father Paul As many of you know, Father Paul is retiring at the end of July. He has been our much loved Parish Priest for over 20 years, during which time he has also been a constant source of support for our school community. From weekly Collective Worship and services, to being a dedicated school governor and providing guidance and reassurance to staff and pupils alike; he has always been there for us. It is impossible to say how much Father Paul will be missed by the pupils, staff and entire community of Temple Ewell School. Thankfully, we know he will still be visiting us regularly! The children, staff and governors will be saying their thank yous and goodbyes to Father Paul during the last week of term. His final service at St Peter s and St Paul s Church is on Sunday 23 rd July, which you are all very welcome to attend.

6 Girls Cricket Heart is the difference between those who attempt and those who achieve Thursday saw the return of the annual girl s cricket tournament. Over recent years we have been very successful and have won the last two competitions. The girls have worked hard in training, constantly wanting to improve and bring back the trophy for the third year straight. The rules of Kwik Cricket are that the batting team starts on 200 runs, the runs they score add to this total and any wickets lost minus 5 runs from it. Each girl must bowl one over and each batting pair must face two overs. Five teams entered this year s tournament, as we were reigning champions and favorites, we had a bye to the semifinal stage along with Deal Parochial and White Cliffs. The qualifying round saw two exciting teams in Dover College and Dover Priory go head to head in a bid to get to the semi finals. Dover College were victorious winning by one run. Dover scored 251 to Priory s 250. Team Temple Ewell were in semifinal one against Deal Parochial. We lost the toss but Deal Parochial opted to bat first which played into Temple Ewells hands. After strong opening bowling by Freya S. and Abi U, Deal Parochial struggled to get off the mark. As the overs progressed Temple Ewell bowled fairly consistently stopping Deal Parochial gaining any really momentum. Amelia W. progressed this year has been sensational and her good form continued with her getting a vital wicket in her over. She sent the middle stump sprawling across the field with a venomous bowl bamboozling the batswomen. All the girls fielded very well reducing Deal Parochial to 236 runs. It was Team Temple Ewell s turn to strike. Once again we were a well drilled side with good balance between all four of the batting pairs. Erica G. and Katie D. were the opening batswomen tasked with getting us off the mark. Erica s intelligent shot placement and Katie s power proved a potent mix with the girls getting Team Temple Ewell to a flying start. The middle order was undeniably resilient with Holly B. and Amelia B. batting with intelligence and maintained a strong run rate. Libby H. and Amelia W. again came to strike with a grit and determination to continue our fine form. They did this with remarkably well and both the girls had an exceptional two overs. The last two overs are always important as a team s hard work can be done with a few quick wickets especially when the nerves starting to set in. Team Temple Ewell s last two batswomen were Freya S. and Abi U. Despite being year 5 both of the girls are extremely game intelligent and show an understanding beyond their years. The girls repaid the faith shown in them as they brought the win in with calculated and precise batting meaning we progressed to the final. The final was against Dover College who dispatched their semifinal opponents with ease. Unfortunately, we lost the toss again and this time Dover College chose to field first which was not ideal for Team Temple Ewell. Erica G. and Katie D. were opening batswomen and once again they got the team on the board. The big hitters of the team constantly found gaps in Dover Colleges fielding with Katie D finding the boundary line a couple of times. Holly B. and Amelia B. captialised on a couple of bad bowls by Dover College and increased our lead further. Libby H and Amelia W fired a few sensational shots into deep field which allowed the girls to take advantage of their strong running. The run rate was impressively high at this point and once again it was the turn of Freya S. and Abi U. This time instead of seeing the game out, as we have not bowled we did not have a score to chase down. Therefore the girls changed their usual tactics and started smashing the ball all over the field. Abi U. intelligence shots and quick running benefitted Freya S. big shots as they increased the score further. After our first innings Team Temple Ewell had an impressive total of 262. Feeling confident, it was Team Temple Ewell to field. Freya Sonnen was the opening bowler and once again she led by example. Freya S bowled a brilliant maiden over meaning no runs were scored of her six bowls. Abi U was to follow and she continued Freya s form keeping the run rate very low. Amelia W was our next bowler and once again she claimed another wicket with a perfectly executed bowl which led to the batswomen hitting the ball up in the air allowing Holly B to catch. After these three overs Team Temple Ewell had Dover College in a minus score line of 197. The pressure was on for Dover College as the momentum was all Team Temple Ewell. The pressure was too much as mistake were being made which were easily taken advantage on by Katie D. and Erica. Libby H. was Team Temple Ewell formidable wicket keeper whose proactive keeping managed to gain two more wickets. Dover College were struggling to get any foot hold as Team Temple Ewell s girls were utterly ruthless in the field. In the end the girls won the final comfortably. The girls were unbelievable once again for me this year. I cannot emphasis enough how well these girls listen and respond in training which leads to continued success. By winning this competition they have qualified for the county finals for third year running. It takes the total to three county finals this year alone. We have represented Dover this year more than any other school.

7 Temple Ewell School Summer Fete Temple Ewell Primary School will be holding their annual Summer Fete on Saturday 1st July In order for this fete to be as successful as previous years we do rely on volunteers to help set up on the day, run stalls and pack up. If you or your friends/family can help in any way please let a member of the PTFA or the school office know. Tag Day - Friday 23rd June 2017 Wear your own clothes and bring in any unopened bottled (alcohol to be brought to the office please).
