1 Sports Snippets - Term 1 Week 8 Wednesday 21st March, 2018 We would love to share information about your child s special achievements across all sporting areas, so please detailed information and a photograph if available to: skellett@arm.catholic.edu.au Polding swimming trials Two students from St Edward s will represent the school at the Polding Swimming Trials at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre today. Lily Androutsos will compete in the 9 Years Girls 50m Freestyle and Sienna Marzato will swim in the 12 Years Girls 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle Open Age and the Senior Individual Medley. We know you will represent yourselves and your school with pride and great sportsmanship and we look forward to hearing the results of your efforts in next weeks newsletter. Commonwealth games Gold coast 4th - 15th april 2018 The Gold Coast will create its own slice of history when it hosts the 21st Commonwealth Games. It will be the fifth time Australia has staged the Commonwealth Games following Sydney (1938), Perth (1962), Brisbane (1982) and Melbourne (2006) making Australia the nation that has hosted the most number of Games. Significantly, GC2018 will mark the first time a Commonwealth Games will be held in a regional Australian city. The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) will be the largest sporting event Australia will see this decade and the biggest sporting spectacular the Gold Coast has ever seen. Every athlete will bear hero status when they compete in the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. It will be sport at its very best and it will be an event where anything is possible. Games will run from 8.00am to 4.00pm on May 8/9 and from 9.30am to 1.30pm on May 10. Games will be of 4 x 10 minutes quarters with running clock. A lunch voucher will be provided.
