Amanda has been routinely asking me for my intro letter for the Marlin Bill and I have been slow in getting it to her. So please accept my apologies, and let s get down to business. The 2011 fishing season will be remembered as one of the best ever. The White Marlin numbers were very close to last year, and if it wasn t for a hurricane and some other snotty weather towards the end I think the numbers could have been higher. And of course we cannot forget the great tuna fishing we had for over half of the season. IT was definitely a fun year for fishing. Speaking of the fishing this past year, in just a few days we will be having the 2 nd Annual White Marlin Party. Any boat or angler that caught 5 or more White Marlin this summer is invited. Invitations went out about a month ago and hopefully everyone that is planning on coming has RSVP d to Amanda. If you caught 5 or more and did not receive an invite please let us know. This party is sure to be every bit as fun as last year s, there will be lots of food and drink and give-aways. I look forward to seeing you there, and suffering through just as bad a hangover as I did after the party last year. The night after the White Marlin Party is the annual Seasonal Awards dinner. I would like to congratulate all of the winners in advance. We really have some of the best on the East Coast, if not the world, as members of our club and it will be great having everyone together on Award s Night. As far as being best on the East Coast goes, I also have to congratulate our 2011 Challenge Cup team on the close victory over the Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club. The points were equal for each team, and we won it on time thanks to the Billfisher catching their last fish a few minutes before the Viking 70 caught theirs. The camaraderie and fishing was great during the event, as always. And if I learned one thing over the Challenge Cup weekend, it is that the Nasty Honey Badger doesn t give a.. In other club business, we are working on the Elevator dedication plaque. I would like to thank everyone that has donated to the Elevator Fund. By the time you are reading this you will probably have received info regarding the Dedication Plaque. Please look it over as we want to make sure we have everything right. And if you have not donated yet please consider a donation. Every dollar counts. It is also time again to elect officers and board members for another term. I am thrilled that Annette Cropper is running unopposed for secretary. Hands down she is the hardest worker on the board and I do not know what I would do without her by my side. Looking over the list of candidates for the board positions I see a very worthy group without a bad choice in the bunch. I know that we will have a solid set of members for the 2012 BOD. Lastly I would to thank the membership for having me on for another term as President. I look forward to serving for another 2 years!!! In closing this month I would like to offer sincere condolences to the Hastings family on the loss of their son Richard. Richard was a friend of mine and I will remember many good times with him over the years. Rest in Peace my friend. Please keep Mike and Sharon in your thoughts and prayers. 7 Auxiliary Announcement! The Jewelry party was a huge success this year the Auxiliary raised over $8, for the Bertha Holloway Scholarship Fund! INGREDIENTS: French bread, cut into 1 thick slices 6 eggs 3/4 cup milk 1/4 teaspoon baking powder 1 tablespoon vanilla 10 oz bag frozen strawberries 4 medium ripe bananas cut into 1/2 slices 3/4 cup sugar 1 tablespoon apple pie spice cinnamon sugar MONTHLY RECIPE Overnight Baked French Toast with Bananas & Strawberries Recipe submitted by Marcia Rigsby. DIRECTIONS: The night before, slice the bread. Combine eggs, milk, baking powder, and vanilla; mix well. Pour over bread slices; cover and refrigerate overnight. Next morning, combine strawberries & bananas then place them in a glass casserole dish. Sprinkle sugar & apple pie spice over fruit; mix well. Place slices of egg soaked bread on top of the fruit. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake in 450 degree preheated oven for minutes. 53rd Annual Labor Day White Marlin Tournament MASTER ANGLER AWARD! 11 Calling all OCMC members..please help the Auxiliary on November 16 by bringing baked goods to the club for a Bake Sale Extravaganza! Just in time for your holiday guests, the Auxiliary is having a Bake Sale to add to the Scholarship Fund. Suggested items: brownies, cookies, bars, muffins, cupcakes, whole cakes (in disposable circle, sq. or rect. pans.), pies, candy, fudge, breads, etc. Package them in zip-lock bags or plastic wrap. Be sure to label them as to what the item is. As an added bonus, people love it if the item is accompanied by the recipe! Also, with concern for people with allergies label if the item contains nuts and what kind. You can drop your bake sale items off at the club between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.or bring them if you are planning to come for dinner. So.dust off your apron, plug in the mixer, fire up that oven.. also get your friends to bake.. and help a worthy cause. All proceeds go to the Ocean City Marlin Club Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
